There's a Budget Friendly Facial Wipe for Every Complexion

I know, I know, facial wipes are the skincare devil reincarnated and should be avoided at all costs; on the most part I would agree, they are not the best method of cleansing and should be cast aside for emergencies but they do have their uses. You may not enjoy facial wipes but at some point you will thank yourself for stashing a pack in your handbag for those inevitable just-in-case moments; be it to remove your make-up while on a flight, to freshen up while camping or at a festival, or just general cleansing on-the-go. If (and I do say if) you are going to lug around a pack of facial wipes in your bag, they might as well be suited to your needs, right?

Believe it or not, there is a facial cleansing cloth for every need and complexion type, and many of which happen to be utterly affordable - let me talk you through no less than six budget friendly options...

There's a Budget Friendly Facial Wipe for Every Complexion

Best for blemish prone complexions:
Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleansing Wipes £4.19 - link.

Very frequently blemish targeted products, particularly those within the budget sector are harsh and less than ideal for the purpose they serve. When I was in the midst of terrible adult acne one of the few cleansers I raved about (the reviews are still on site) was Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Facial Wash; it gently removed, oil, dirt and general grime without stripping my skin, as such the facial wipes within the same skincare branch are my obvious choice for blemish prone skin types. Again despite being of the deep cleansing variety (they make light work of foundation but do not use on the eye area), the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleansing Wipes won't irritate nor further aggravate blemishes making them the perfect "make-do" cleanser. I personally use these before hitting the treadmill at the gym because really who takes a balm or oil cleanser to the gym?

Best for dull complexions:
Simple Kind to Skin Exfoliating Wipes £3.49 - link.

Now there is no real substitute for a real exfoliator, be it manual or liquid but if you must use a facial wipe, and let's be honest sometimes they are better than nothing - Simple Kind to Skin Exfoliating Wipes are great for quickly boosting your complexion. The dual sided wipes - one side cleanses, the other acts as a manual form of exfoliation - are gentle, quick and easy to use, not to mention they do a pretty stellar job of removing make-up and general traces of all that the day may bring. I do advise steering well clear of the Simple Kind to Skin Exfoliating Wipes, should you have active acne as they could further aggravate your skin.

Best for dry complexions:
Nivea Crème Care Facial Cleansing Wipes £1.45 - link.

Think of these as the closest thing to a moisturiser as you can achieve from a facial wipe, and not only the best choice for those with a dry skin type, but also frequent flyer's too. Each wipe is drenched in a truly nourishing cleanser, to gently remove any make-up and impurities but also leave the skin feeling comforted. If you have the need for a facial wipe but require something that won't leave your complexion feeling parched this is the wipe for you. If you do have oily skin this is the wipe you will want to avoid as you may find it a little too heavy.

Best for mature complexions:
Olay Total Effects Age Defying 7-in-1 Wipes £6.99 - link.

I'm not entirely sure why those with a mature complexion would require a different wipe from anyone else but none the less my Mother swears these are the way forward. What I will say in favour of this wipe, is that they are slightly thicker than average and extremely moist, as such they do glide over the skin and remove even the most stubborn of waterproof mascara formulations too. I have also noticed that they do not dry out the skin either, meaning that should you need to use these fairly regularly your skin will not suffer.

Best for oily complexions:
Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing Wipes £3.45 - link.

It is not the structure of this wipe that is special, rather it is the ingredients; yes each wipe does indeed remove make-up, dirt, oil and grime but then again so do most facial wipes. What separates the Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing Wipes from the rest, is that the formulation boasts zinc to help heal and clear the complexion as well as offering oil shine - I'm not sure how useful that is as a cleanser but good to know none the less. Out of all the variations of facial wipes featured in this post, this is the most refreshing variety and as it is a Simple creation you can bet your bottom dollar that they are gentle too.

Best for sensitised complexions:
Garnier Micellar Extra-Gentle Cleansing Wipes £3.45 - link

Easily the most basic offering of the bunch but a great option for those with easily irritated complexions; this super gentle wipe will remove every scrap of make-up, won't skin nor burn the skin and is the perfect choice if ever you have suffered an allergic reaction to a cleanser of this type. A great pack of wipes to stash away in your handbag for all those just-in-case moments, and gentle enough to wipe even kids (not babies) faces and hands.

Now no-one is suggesting that you ditch your favoured cleanser in place of facial wipes but I think we can all agree, sooner or later you will need a pack for whatever reason, and isn't it ultimately the wisest choice to have an option best tailored to your skin requirements?

It turns out some of us use facial wipes without a second thought; read a teen confession: I un-apologetically  use facial wipes here.
