Five Years of Blogging

I was going to purchase a large, numeric, shiny foil balloon to document the occasion and then I remembered that I don't enjoy getting my photo taken, and there is the small fact of the matter that you can't exactly eat a balloon. One word - cake, delicious red velvet cake that I am so looking forward to a slice later this afternoon.

All jokes and tales of gluttony aside, I have now been blogging for four years; I began The Sunday Girl way back in April 2011 - the exact date I can no longer disclose as I foolish deleted my first posts a few years ago. In the grand scheme of beauty sites I realise five years is not a huge milestone (most well known blogs have been around 7+ years) but as someone who seldom commits to anything I'm strangely proud of myself.

Admittedly, The Sunday Girl and all it's former guises (did I mention I'm fickle and bore easily?) was never meant to become what I'm now beyond fortunate enough to list as my vocation but I wouldn't change it for the world. If you'd have told me five years ago, my spur of the moment sign up form would lead to a new career and dare I say passion, I would have laughed in your face...well maybe not as that is a little rude but I'd have scoffed at the mere suggestion. If you are a long time reader - The Sunday Girl or otherwise - and have as much as considered creating your own site, I say what have you got to loose? Yes it may only ever amount to a hobby, you might delete all traces after a month but until you try you'll never know.

Yes blogging has it's ups and it's downs but then again what doesn't? It is what you make of it and nothing else. Sure the landscape has changed over the last five years but why wouldn't it? Imagine if things had stayed just as they were, it would be boring and truthfully you'd have far less full time bloggers if they hadn't. I rather like that we are at a turning point, things do look a little more uncertain than before and I am unsure where blogging is going but all I know is that I am in for the long haul and hope you are too?

I'm constantly asked what my future plans for The Sunday Girl are and do I want to continue? The answer is yes of course I do, I hope to grow and expand the site including new and exciting features, along with a super slick re-design which will be taking place in the coming days. I don't want to say too much and ruin the surprise but stay tuned.

If there is anything you'd like to see more (or less) of please feel free to let me know in the comments, I am always open to suggestions.

As a huge thank you for sticking around throughout all my rants, raves and reviews I have two wonderful prizes up for grabs, head over to Twitter (@thesundaygirlUK) and Instagram (@thesundaygirluk) and be sure to enter. Thank you again!
