So it looks like the British Summer (or at the very least Spring) is on the way and if you happen to have an oily complexion, or find that make-up channels Houdini and all but disappears at the first sign of heat, you are going to want to a setting spray of some sort? Much like I do with most skin care issues I turned to Clarins to resolve my currently shiny complexion and melting make-up woes; Clarins Fix Make Up Spray may just be the best launch of Spring/Summer 2016 - yes it is that wonderful.
When you think of setting sprays you would more than be forgiven for instantly conjuring up an image of one of the numerous Urban Decay offerings, or perhaps a high street offering, all of which come presented in plastic packaging - sure it gets the job done but is it not nearly as chic as the Clarins Fix Make Up Spray styling? In a word no. The sleek and dare I say pretty, red glass design is more akin with a perfume bottle than that of a setting spray, sure it is not the most ideal option for travel - be that day to day use or jumping aboard a flight - but what it lacks in practicality it gains in style. Much like any setting spray, Clarins Fix Make Up Spray is of course is a product you mist on using the somewhat fine and easy to use nozzle - for best results I do recommend extending your arm as far as it will go and then spraying on to the skin, that way you will have achieve a lighter and more even finish.
Now I know what you are thinking, why should I try a more expensive and perhaps elusive setting spray when the one you picked up in Superdrug seems to be working just fine? Pure and simple - the ingredients and comfort level. Think about it, as a liquid product any setting spray will somewhat be absorbed by the skin and I don't know about you but where I can, I would like to nourish and protect my skin as best as possible. Clarins Fix Make Up Spray contains Vitamin C to gently plump and brighten the skin with no additional effort on your part. Unlike other setting sprays this is in no way drying or uncomfortable to wear, if anything it gently hydrates without overwhelming, not to mention it is refreshing too thanks to an addition of aloe vera.
As impressive as the core ingredient line up may be, a setting spray must do just that - set the make-up, prevent heat, sweat and/or rain from removing it from the face and generally prolong wear, all of which Clarins Fix Make Up Spray does just beautifully. After I apply my base products and set with powder, I gently mist on and give it a few seconds to fully absorb before getting on with my day - a few quick sprays gently locks everything in place for up to 10 hours (in my experience) and prevents my make-up from caking throughout the day. If I find my skin to be particularly oily, I will use Clarins Fix Make Up Spray as a primer - a quick mist all over my bare complexion before applying products. I also find that Clarins Fix Make Up Spray is a wonderful way to counteract the apperance of "too much" powder, and can also be used to freshen and cool the skin throughout the day should you wish.
Yes Clarins Fix Make Up Spray is a little more expensive than your typical setting spray but in my opinion it is worth every penny and then some.

Ooh well isn't that a beautiful bottle! I've had limited success before with UD's offerings - but then I am super oily skinned. Will keep an eye out for this one - I'm imagining it with the perfume bottles on the dressing table!
