Like a lot of my favourite beauty products, I discovered Vichy Ideal Soleil Mattifying Face Fluid Dry Touch SPF50 purely in a moment of necessity. I had been for a facial, it was a sunny day and there was no way I was walking home without some sort of SPF on my then oil coated face. In hindsight I should have asked my facialist for a little sunscreen but instead I found myself in Boots looking for something cheap and cheerful, as it really was only to protect my skin for the duration of the walk home I grabbed the first sunscreen on offer - Vichy Ideal Soleil Mattifying Face Fluid Dry Touch SPF50. As it goes it is one of the best rash purchases I have made in a long time.
I very nearly didn't purchase Vichy Ideal Soleil Mattifying Face Fluid Dry Touch SPF50, some what put off by the garish yellow hue of the bottle - if I'm entirely honest I feel this way about most sunscreen packaging. My disdain for yellow aside, Vichy Ideal Soleil Mattifying Face Fluid Dry Touch SPF50 is a handy 50ml size that neatly fits into just about any handbag, office drawer or glove department - forever ready when you need it. The squeeze style tube of Vichy Ideal Soleil Mattifying Face Fluid Dry Touch SPF50 is fairly convenient and easy to use, however I must add that as this bottle contains a fairly loose liquid you must ensure that the cap is firmly in place to prevent leaks and spills.
So what do you require from a facial SPF? Personally I demand (yep demand) both a high factor and UVA/UVB protection and you should too; as someone with oily skin I prefer a lighter texture and something that is non-greasy, I also like quick to absorb and transparent facial sunscreen too - aka no tell tale signs that I'm actually slathered in SPF y'know? Well what if you could have all of that plus a mattifying-come-blurring texture too? Shut up and take my money I bet would be the answer, well Vichy Ideal Soleil Mattifying Face Fluid Dry Touch SPF50 is just that: high and broad protection, non-greasy, quick and easy to apply, not to mention it perfects the skin. I also find this is one of the few facial SPF's that does not leave my eyes watering nor does it further irritate my acne prone complexion.
What more could you ask? A budget friendly price tag - yep Vichy have that sorted too - this nifty, daily wonder costs just £12 (at full price but it can often be found on offer). Grab one now and thank me later.

I am so bad at applying sun cream to my face (or anywhere for that matter) but if there's one out there that has a mattifying effect then I'm game! To Boots I go!

I'm so bad about using SPF unless it's in my moisturizer, but if you claim this is the best, I'll check it out :)

I've been looking for a new SPF as I've kind of fallen out of love with the La Roche Posay one - good sun protection, but I'm already pale and it gives me a serious case of ghost face... Will have to give this one a try!

I use the Emulsion from Avène, and it's quite good but I like to change products, so I'll try that one next time :)
ReplyDeleteLooking for an SPF product and this is now on the list - great review

Mattifying? yes please. Typically in summer I use boots factor 50 which is also 5 star rating. But its body, but I just use it on my face too, how greasy lol, this looks amazing - I have a new love of Vichy right now, they are smashing it.

Great post! I've been thinking about buying an SPF for my face. Even though I get some protection naturally, (melanin ftw) SPF 15 is pretty weak. I'm definitely going to try this. If you find an awesome spray SPF let me know! Www.blackpistachio.co.uk xx
ReplyDeleteAnother great non-greasy sunblock is the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch SPF 55

ReplyDeleteThank you for this post, it was right in time for trip to Thailand in a couple of weeks. I was wondering if it was possible to get a separate non greasy facial sun cream and clearly it is. ♥
