In the past few weeks I have bemoaned the lack of good quality and result driven sheet masks available within the UK highstreet. I did have high hopes for Superdrug's own brand offering but as it turns out there are one of the worst I have encountered. With this in mind, I have been scouring all the obvious places (Boots and Superdrug et al) in the hopes of finding a suitable fix to recommend with no such luck. On a chance encounter (I popped in-store for socks), while queuing in the ever woefully long check-out lines in Primark and stumbled upon their own brand sheet mask. The rest as they say is history...
Now I know what you are thinking, Primark is the last place you'd expect to find a quality skincare product - I was of the same mind set. I can however assure you that you will be hard pushed to find a better, and more affordable sheet mask on the UK highstreet (believe me I've looked) than Primark's P.S Love Your Skin Express Rejuvenate Mask. Oh and the best part? It costs less than £1, a mere eighty pence to be exact.
My main gripe with Superdrug's Sheet Mask range was the excessive amounts of alcohol within each serum; the result was that the masks were both drying and rather harsh on the skin - less than idea nor what most of us will have come to expect from a facial mask of this category. After a quick glance of the ingredients, I can almost say with certainty that Primark P.S Love Your Skin Express Rejuvenate Mask (the name is a little troubling, isn't it?) isn't as heavily alcohol based (if at all) and as such it is quite the treat. As a matter of a fact I have compared the ingredients to a good few of my favourite Korean sheet masks and it isn't all that different, the main contrast seems to be that the Primark masks are heavily Castor Oil based. This isn't a criticism, Castor Oil is a great natural emollient and has certain anti-ageing benefits too - it can help plump and smooth the skin.
You'd be forgiven for assuming that at just eighty pence the P.S Love Your Skin Express Rejuvenate Mask (seriously that name though) would be poorly constructed and do nothing more than cool the skin. Well as it goes, the Primark sheet masks are really well thought out if not a little fiddly. You see unlike the vast majority of sheet masks, this has been designed to cover both the face and neck, as such it does take a little longer than usual to unfold and apply. I should also add that Primark have not been skimpy with moisturising serum, each mask is dripping wet with plenty left over in the sachet to apply to your hands and chest should you wish. It is worth the struggle as the gentle serum is both cooling and nourishing (not to mention it smells lovely too - very calming and spa-esque), after a quick 15 minute application skin is plump, moisturised and radiant. If that is not worth spending 80 shiny pennies on, I'm afraid I don't know what is.
I think we've all gathered by now where you can find the Primark P.S Love Your Skin Express Rejuvenate Masks and the cost (in case you haven't been paying attention - Primark/80p), sadly as Primark don't offer online shopping (2016 and all, just saying), you will have to brave the crowds. Sorry but at least you will have beautifully soft skin to look forward to.
Damn Primark needs to sort out their online presence! They would sell loads I'm sure. Great review of the masks <3

I never would have considered Primark as a place for skincare but you have changed my mind! For 80p these are surely worth a go - thank you for the great review!

These sound pretty good! And wouldn't it be great if Primark DID do online shopping? Seriously, they'd pocket even more than they already do!

Ah, that gives me a reason to go into Primark again. (I was all stocked up on fleecy owl pyjamas for life). I'm glad you've been reporting back on all of these sheet masks. Are you thinking of trying the Blithe Splash Masks? Or even one of the rubber masks? I'm intrigued with those. Might see if I can get some off Glow Recipe. x
ReplyDelete*puts on coat and heads straight to Primark*
ReplyDeleteI've sworn OFF of any superdrug own brand, I had an exfoliator by them and it ruined my skin, they are awful! I've always been a little unsure of primark own products but after reading this I'm going to give it a try (: thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is great to know! I should be nipping to Primark tomorrow and I'd love to give this a go :)
