A few days ago we booked the annual family holiday to our now customary haunt - Orlando, Florida and I couldn't be more excited. Despite frequenting almost every year and being in my twenties, it is still one of those most magical places I've been lucky enough to visit - Disneyland aside of course. As I do any time I am due to visit the US I sit down and list the beauty products I would like to purchase once I touch down, if you are nosey (aren't we all?) or simply looking for a little inspiration then read on...

1, I realise that Make Up For Ever has reached the UK via Debenhams, the physical counter is in London I'll have to wait until I reach Florida to stock up on old favourites and of course try out new products. Other than re-stocking on foundation and a tube or two of Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash Mascara I have nothing else on my last as of yet, do feel free to enable me. You can shop the entire Make Up For Ever collection here - link.

2, I swear by Sephora's own brand cosmetic line - I can't get enough of Sephora Cream Lip Stain and the Sephora Luster Matte Long Wear Lip Colors. Easily some of the best matte liquid lipsticks I have ever tested and so well priced, I will be re-stocking on my favourite shades and trying out a few new to boot. Last year I tested the Sephora Microsmooth Baked Lumizers in-store but for some reason I decided against purchasing them, it is a move that still haunts my make-up dreams - this year I'll be purchasing both shades for sure. Any other Sephora own brand recommendations are more than welcomed!

3, While in Sephora I fully plan on taking advantage of having Too Faced Cosmetics at my disposal, topping my list is Too Faced Cocoa Contour Kit, Too Faced Natural Matte Eye Palette and the Too Faced Selfie Powder Kit. I'm also hoping that Too Faced will also launch a Christmas kit, much like they have the previous two years.

4, I am keen to trial Peter Thomas Roth masks, I've heard nothing but great things about the Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask - it is said to not only scrub and hydrate as well as brighten in one quick step. The other Peter Thomas Roth mask that is calling my name is the Irish Moor Mud Purifying Black Mask, a mask that de-congests, moisturises and helps control excess oil - consider me sold.

5, I have the longest list of Anastasia Beverly Hills items that I can not wait to purchase, namely Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks most notably the shade Pure Hollywood. I will most likely purchase more than one shade but this is shade that I won't rest until I own. I'm also hoping that Jeffree Star Cosmetics and Make Up Geek Cosmetics will ship to my hotel as they are both brands I am keen to try out at some point.

6, Lastly no visit to the US is complete without a trip to Bath and Body Works, the candles are incredible - clean burning, well priced, all with incredible fragrances. I can not recommend them enough, my personal favourite scents are Leaves and Georgia Peach. I'm hopeful that both the Autumn and Christmas collections will be in-store by the time arrive.

I am sure it goes without saying that I will be stopping by the Drugstores such as CVS and Walgreen's too but more on that later...

Mavala Nail Care Collection

Let's start this post with a truth bomb - I'm not the best at taking care of my hands or feet, I could even be described as neglectful. Scotland has long and fairly rough Winters, I scribe to the out of sight, out of mind philosophy until Summer rolls around. It's now time for me to scrub, polish and paint my fingers and toes so that they are in some form sandal ready - if you are in a similar predicament perhaps the new Mavala Nail Care additions could be of some help to you too?

Mavala Nail Care Collection
Mavala Nail Care Collection

Mavala Nailactan Nail Nourishing Cream £17.65 via Feel Unique - link.
If like myself your nails are not only a little dried out, be it from the elements or the likes of nail polish remover and/or false nails - Mavala Nailactan Nail Nourishing Cream is your rescue remedy. Did you know that the nails are composed of three layers, the visible outer layer is particularly sensitive to outside elements and can be dried out by not only chemicals but also the sun and cold elements. No me neither but it is interesting to know that nails can split and flake for those very reasons. Mavala Nailactan has been created to counteract just that - a thick, easy to apply and quick to absorb nail cream; it features essential amino acids, lipids and kerato-balancing vitamins to protect, restore and hydrate. Apparently it can also restore elasticity to the nail plate which in turn will improve the nails general condition and prevent the nails from splitting. At the moment I have very short nails so splitting isn't a problem, I can vouch that it has helped restore moisture to my dried out nail beds - I like to apply straight after removing nail polish and before bed.

Mavala Nail Care Collection

Mavala Lightening Nail Scrub Mask and Nail Brush £11.25 via Feel Unique -link.
I've never thought to scrub my nails but it all makes sense - this gentle nail scrub not only brightens and helps eradicate any signs of yellow nails be it from polish or not. It also helps to smooth out any ridges and help prepare the nails for a manicure and/or any treatment. The nifty free nail brush that comes with the scrub is ideal for short and long nails, it is gentle but really effective.

Mavala Mava-White £9.90 via Feel Unique - link
Speaking of yellowed nails Mavala have a treatment just for that, nails can become stained due to several factors - nail polish and nicotine are the biggest offenders. Mava-white is a matte treatment that not only disguises stained, dull nails and or yellow nails but prevents it from happening again. Mava-white is an optical colour corrector for the nails that controls how the natural pigments within the nails react to UV light. As it is a matte and natural finish product it is entirely suitable for men, in the same light it can also be used as a base coat before nail polish to prevent staining.

Mavala Freesia Nail Polish - link and Mavala Hortensia Nail Polish - link £4.75 each via Boots
Lastly I have to new Mavala nail shades to share: Freesia a beautiful, bright orange based coral that is glossy and perfect for upcoming Summer. This is truly one of the prettiest and easiest to wear coral polishes I have experienced in a long while - I think this will look great on toes! If you like coral polishes that lean a little more pink then perhaps Mavala Hortensia will be more up your street. An almost Malibu Barbie pink that can look a look a little neon but surprisingly really flattering. Both shades apply opaque with just two coats, have a glossy finish and are not prone to chipping.

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Collection

Just in time for the Summer months is the new The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Collection which is in-store now and launches online the 2nd of June. If you enjoy fresh, uplifting and utterly refreshing fragrances this five piece line up is what you have been waiting for. Yes this is reminiscent of the famous Cuban cocktail but should you over do it you don't need to worry about sobriety levels ha!
Along with some new products such as The Body Shop Body Splash, as well as some of the best selling and now iconic items - yep there is a Virgin Mojito Body Butter, in two sizes no less. It really is a collection you don't want to miss out on.

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Collection

Let's start with the new products shall we? The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Splash is not one you want to miss out on - a cooling, sprinkle everywhere body refresher. Think of it as a body spray minus the actual mist aspect, yes it can be a little messy hence why it is advised to shake on to the skin straight after a shower and/or moisturising. It really is a lovely sensation, non-sticky, sweetly scented with lime and mint and perfectly suited to hot, balmy weather.

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Collection

There is also the The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Scrub which I don't own but I do have a bottle of the Mojito shower gel which I pretty much demand you purchase. Something magical happens when you combine the mint tinged lime aroma with warm water - it comes to life and of course cleanses the skin without being harsh or stripping. You can of course squirt a little under running water and enjoy the minty bubbles in the comfort of your bath tub - bliss.

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Collection
The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Collection

For all your moisturising needs there is The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Butter - a zesty, fresh richly nourishing and deeply hydrating body moisturiser. This is the perfect solution for dry skin be it from sitting in the sun or just to keep the skin sweetly scented and supple. If you prefer something lighter and a cooling then you need to try The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Sorbet. Not only does this refresh but along with adding a gentle barrier of moisture it cools and calms the skin, I can't think of a more perfect after sun solution. However you use it, I'm pretty sure you will be hooked - I've already repurchased a back up bottle.

Sadly the The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Collection is limited edition so make sure you pop in-store soon, or of course order online from the 2nd of June.

Yankee Candle Cafe Culture Collection

Traditionally most Spring and Summer collections are floral and/or fruit based - the perfect addition to sun soaked days...well one can only hope. If like myself you have found yourself still turning the central heating on in late May, one of the latest Yankee launches from the Yankee Candle Cafe Culture Collection may just put a smile on your face. Three delicious patisserie based home fragrances that will satisfy the sweetest tooth, with not a calorie in sight. Oh now I have your attention!

Yankee Candle Cafe Culture Collection is a sugar rush for the senses, with chocolate, spice and all things nice. There really is no better collection to accompany a late night or afternoon cuppa and maybe, just maybe a slice of cake. In my mind this is a scent range for lazy Sunday afternoon's, rain soaked evenings or perhaps squirrelling away until Autumn. Think rich, comforting and all too familiar notes that have been hand selected to remind you of home baking and perhaps coffee with a friend in your local haunt.

Yankee Candle Cafe Culture Collection

My personal favourite of the trio is Yankee Candle Tarte Tatin - a sweet yet spicy blend of apple, cinnamon and vanilla, imagine a freshly baked apple pastry and you won't go far wrong. It really is good enough to eat and oddly refreshing too, great for burning after cooking to eradicate any odours. For coffee lovers there is Yankee Candle Cappuccino Truffle - indulgent, rich with of course an enticing blend of chocolate and roasted coffee, you may just find yourself reaching for a chocolate based treat while burning this. Lastly we have Yankee Candle Pain au Raisin - a hint of cognac, raisins, vanilla and cinnamon. A very more-ish, intense and complex fragrance, one you need to test to truly believe.

At the moment I am on a Yankee Candle Wax Tart kick, they tend to pack more of a punch in terms of scent throw compared to the small votives and are ideal for those like myself who are fickle. For just a few pounds I can have an array of various scents to pick, choose or combine - you can't ask for more.

You can shop the entire Yankee Candle Cafe Culture Collection £1.49-£19.99 via

What's New on the High Street

Each month I try to sit down and share all the latest launches that have or are about to hit the High Street - admittedly I am a little late with May's edition but you will forgive me once you see all that is in-store at the moment. Without further ado here is what you can buy now on the UK High Street, shopping lists at the ready...

What's New on the High Street

Let's kick things off with a freebie - Boots are currently gifting a free Revlon Mascara when you purchase any three Revlon make-up items. As an added bonus Revlon is also on a 3 for 2 offer at Boots, this is both online and in-store - link.

Two new collections have just landed at The Body Shop - the new Virgin Mojito Bath and Body Collection is in-store now and smells incredible - fresh, zesty and addictive. For those on the look out for brightening skin care two new items join The Body Shop Vitamin C collection: The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser  and The Body Shop Vitamin C Instant Glow Enhancer - you can read my full review here - link.

A quick peruse of the bath and body aisle of Boots lead me to the new Original Source Quick Drying Moisturising Oil Spray. Not only does this smell delicious, a blend of watermelon and jojoba oils but is beyond lightweight. It is not at all greasy yet deeply hydrates the skin instantly - one of the best dry oils I have come across within the budget market. I can not find it online but it was £6.99 from Boots.

What's New on the High Street

May has been a wonderful month for make-up launches not only have the new Revlon HD Lipsticks (£7.99 via Boots) landed - creamy, buttery soft and pigmented but L'Oreal have just unleashed the new L'Oreal Paris Infallible Mega Gloss (£6.99 each) which come in both matte and gloss formulations. In other lip news the new Chapstick Lipstix have now launched nationwide.

At long last the Maybelline Color Tattoo's in Leather Effect have reached UK shores, if you haven't already snapped one up the shade Creamy Beige is a great base and everyday shade. The other and perhaps more exciting Maybelline launch is the new Maybelline Master Sculpt Contouring Kits (£6.99), two fuss free colour options for chiselled cheekbones.

Speaking of cheeks two new Barry M blush options have just landed on counter, if you like cream formulations then the new Barry M Make Me Blush Cream Sticks (£4.49 each) are the product for you. For those who enjoy a more traditional approach there is three new shades of Barry M Make Me Blush Powder Blushes (£3.49 each) to choose from, full review here - link.

What's New on the High Street

Admittedly I bought my China Glaze and OPI polishes from Nail Polish Direct but if you'd rather see them in person, it my be helpful to know that Sally's now have both the OPI Hawaii Collection and the China Glaze Electric Nights Collection in-store now. I also noticed that Boots have expanded the Seventeen Gel Colour Polish range - a great, glossy gel polish that gives the appearance of gel cured nails for just £3.99.

As you can see May has been a jam packed month! Look out for full reviews of all of the above items and do let me know if you have any other new product recommendations.

Nail Polish Direct Haul

A few days ago in the quest for a certain China Glaze Nail Polish I took to Twitter and asked for help, a few pointed me (namely Phillippa  - than you again) towards Nail Polish Direct. As someone who seldom purchases nail polish - I own more than I should and don't reach for them nearly enough I wasn't all that familiar with the site. Forgive me for being so honest but as the prices of the polishes (premium brands inclusive) were so low, I was worried it would be old stock or a sham. I am forver suspicious and have been burnt a few times on the likes of eBay.

My worries were for nothing, not only is Nail Polish Direct more than above board I can truly vouch that it is one of the best online beauty shops I have dealt with. I ordered my products during the bank holiday and there arrived safely no less than four days later. My polishes were securely packed - bubble and polystyrene chips in a box, complete with tracked and signed for delivery. Now here is where it gets super impressive - delivery was free! My order of three full sized China Glaze polishes all of which were from the latest collection - Electric Nights and my mini OPI Hawaii set came to just over £21, it is an understatement to say I am pleased.

Nail Polish Direct Haul

As a reference point the newest OPI polishes are just shy of £9 each, China Glaze polishes are around £4 (it depends on the collection) and Essie are just under £9 - some are clearly a better deal than others but for China Glaze polishes I have yet to find a better deal. Speaking of which the three shades that I purchased are: Point me to the Party, Let the Beat Drop and Can I get an Untz Untz. All three are matte glitter effect and are best layered over a white or pastel base. I'll pop up a review and swatch post as soon as possible.

Nail Polish Direct gets my seal of approval - cheap, quick and reliable, if like myself you are wary of lesser known retailers I hope this post helps put a few minds at ease.

You can visit Nail Polish Direct here - link.

Aesop Parsley Seed Facial Masque

For the longest time Aesop as a brand topped my to try list, as there is nowhere (or at least to the best of my knowledge) in Glasgow that I can try before I buy - I held off until I visited London a few weeks ago. When you are spending close to £30 (Aesop Parsley Seed Facial Masque is £27) on one item of skin care, you want to be able to ask questions and have a quick feel for the product, before handing over the cash. The good news is that if you have a Aesop counter or store local the staff are wonderfully helpful and a fountain of wisdom on each product; no gimmicks just clear advice on what will work best for you and Aesop Parsley Seed Facial Masque was one of my recommendations.

Aesop Parsley Seed Facial Masque

Aesop Parsley Seed Facial Mask is a cleansing mask but a gentle one at that, it has been formulated to use on even sensitised skin to deeply cleanse, brighten and calm in one quick step. As Aesop Parsley Seed Facial Masque is clay based (Kaolin Clay no less, to enhance blood circulation and reduce excess sebum) it not only draws impurities from the pores - perfect for city living and of course any form of congested skin. Most clay based facial masks do this so what makes Aesop Parsley Seed Facial Masque special and worthy of the hefty price tag? The core ingredients - Aloe Vera to soothe and calm stressed out skin. There is also Rosehip to restore, repair (great for sun damage) brighten and protect the complexion and of course Parsley Seed renowned for both its healing and antibacterial properties - ideal for those like myself who suffer from blemishes.

Aesop Parsley Seed Facial Masque

In the past certain mud based masks have only aggravated my stressed out skin - red rashes, additional blemishes and burning sensations have all happened at least once. This is not the case with Aesop Parsley Seed Facial Masque, it does all it says and more - along with the cleansing and soothing element (it eliminates any itching or skin tightness), I find it dries out existing blemishes thus aiding the healing process. From the first use you can not only feel it work but see visible results - brighter skin, clearer pores and less inflamed skin. Admittedly it can be a touch on the drying side, ideal if like myself you have oily skin but perhaps not what someone with a drier complexion will be hoping for. As an added bonus it is a dream not only to apply but also remove - no annoying flakes of product as it dries out and is easily removed using a wet flannel. It is suggested that you use the Aesop Parsley Seed Facial Masque at least once a week - if I lived in the city then I would be tempted to follow said instructions but for me it is a when and as if treatment; I like having it on call for skin freak outs and of course for the odd deeper than normal cleanse. However you use it I imagine that most (especially oily and combination skin types) will not be disappointed with the results.

A huge thumbs up from me!

Colab Dry Shampoo

I've waxed lyrical countless times about the Colab Dry Shampoo collection, never dedicating a full post to to easily one of the best dry shampoo formulas out there. No time like the present and after trying perhaps every variant that Colab offer, I couldn't feel more equipped to share my views.

As you may know Colab is the brain child of fellow beauty blogger Ruth Crilly, A Model Recommends. I put off purchasing anything from the line up because at the time I was more than happy with my Dove Dry Shampoo (I still recommend this F.Y.I), and to be entirely truthful the hype surrounding the line seemed a little too good to be true. As a group we all want to see fellow bloggers do well and I worried that perhaps some were viewing the shampoo through rose tinted glasses. I couldn't be more wrong, Colab Dry Shampoo is deserving of every single rave review and more.

Thanks to brands like Colab gone are the days in which using dry shampoo results in a white, itchy scalp and more residue than you care for. For me the perfect dry shampoo has to be lightweight, quickly absorbed yet have the ability to soak up excess oil with ease, smell beautiful, all the while being invisible - if it can add a little extra volume to lank roots too then it is forever a repurchase. Unsurprisingly Colab dry shampoo ticks every box and gets extra brownie points for being both affordable and easily sourced within UK highstreet. I also like that it brushes out with ease and comes in two sizes: 50ml and 200ml - travel and bathroom options.

The Colab Dry Shampoo range comes in two variants: Sheer Invisible and Extra Volume. I prefer the Sheer Invisible range as it is just that - no white traces, super fine in texture so it doesn't irritate my scalp and offers enough root lift for my fairly naturally voluminous hair. I also tend to mist dry shampoo into my hair at night before sleep (which as we all know creates bed head and volume galore), so that there is no trace in the morning, just freshly scented and grease free locks. That's not to say the Colab Extra Volume line up is any way inferior - far from it but it is better suited to those with a finer hair and/or those seeking out additional volume and lift. If you do have a preferred formulation pay close attention in store (or ordering online for that matter), as all six scent options are available in both styling options (the bottle designs do differ slightly).

Touching on the topic of fragrances, without exaggeration I can truly say that Colab have one of if not the best scent options - no heavy talc like notes just super fresh fragrances inspired by iconic cities. My personal favourites are the more fruity options such as Rio, New York and Monaco but I'd be lying if I didn't say the Paris is just as wonderful in its own right. As a matter of a fact there is not a scent option that  I don't like and that is saying something!

If you have yet to try the Colab Dry Shampoo range the next time you are in Superdrug, grab a mini can and take it home, I'm willing to bet you return for the full size!

My Oil Pulling Experience

Perhaps it is because I am British that I am self concious about my smile, or maybe it is simply because I know deep down it could more than do with some improvement. Either way I am a curious and somewhat vain (aren't we all creature) person and with everyone and their dog hoping aboard the oil pulling train, I thought it was time I gave it a whirl too - that big ol' jar of coconut oil I own has to be used some way or other.

I'm sure you have read the apparent benefits of oil pulling: from whitening the teeth, curing bad breath to detoxing the body. I say apparent as I don't really believe that swishing oil around your mouth can offer much in terms of detox; the body naturally self cleanses (that's why we have kidneys and a liver - I hate sounding like a nag but it is true) but the deep cleansing aspect for the teeth as well as the chance of whiter teeth reeled me in.

The two most popular oils to use when oil pulling are: coconut and sesame oils (of course others can be used too) - I know which I'd prefer the taste of daily. It seems technique differs broadly from person to person, most will pop the oil into the mouth when it is a solid (in the case of coconut oil), gargle for up to 20 minutes and spit out. Others will warm the coconut oil so it is already in liquid form and then proceed.

Is it a pleasant experience? Honestly not really - like most things I approached with a certain level of vigour, only to result in a tired aching jaw five minutes into the process. Slow and steady wins the race but after a while you do get bored of the taste and a mouth of oil. The other bone of contention seems to be that some use oil pulling in place of brushing the teeth and other general oral hygiene methods. Myself and others see it as an additional step, I do it in the afternoon so that I am not immediately rinsing or brushing the oil off of my teeth. I'm not sure if this is correct or at all beneficial but I'll tell you something for nothing - I am not ditching my toothbrush nor bottle of Listerine any time soon.

Either way it does take a few tries to fully become acquainted with the process. If I could offer a few pointers it would be: when it comes to the oil less is more, after 20 minutes of gargling it will likely double in size and become not only messy but uncomfortable. Also be sure to spit (so lady like) the remains of your oil pull into a bag to dispose of or at least the rubbish bin to prevent clogging your drains.

So two weeks into my coconut based experiment and what have I learnt? Well it is not for me - the mess, the level of dedication and the general sensation is enough to put me off of coconuts, never mind oil for life. I've already stated my personal stance on the detoxing in this sense (I may be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time ha!) so I can't possibly comment if it does or does not work. What I can say is that the silky and almost sticky oil does a great job of removing food stuck from between my teeth, all the while leaving the mouth feeling deeply cleansed. I'll spare you (and myself the blushes) of a before and after photo but there certainly is an element of whitening - no where near that achieved from dental bleaching but as it is natural and pain free, I can't complain as I didn't fully commit.

I won't denounce the age old practise of oil pulling, several generations can't be wrong but for now I'll be saving my coconut oil for my hair and dismal baking attempts. I would love to hear about your experiences - good, bad, indifferent (that is where I stand) or perhaps you have yet to try it out?

Sharing is caring after all...

Teen Beauty - Budget Beauty Brands

Over to my little sister once again - at the moment I am saving up to go back to America with my entire family so pricey make-up purchases are out of the window. With that in mind I have gathered up all my favourite budget picks and brands, some you may have heard of and other perhaps not...

Teen Beauty - Budget Beauty Brands

Primark - Yes seriously, admittedly I seldom spend any time looking at the make-up stand but for cosmetic bags and cases there is nowhere better. Not only are they well made, beautifully designed not to mention sturdy but beyond affordable. It doesn't matter what your beauty storage needs are you can more than bet Primark will answer the call - from dinky make-up bags to travel solutions they offer it all and under £10 too.

Collection - Formerly known as Collection 2000, a range I used to skip whenever frequenting Boots or Superdrug yet one that has come into its own in the past year or so. Sure Collection Concealer is widely hailed as one of the best of its type but be sure to check of the lipsticks and nail polishes, especially if it is a shade you won't wear frequently. I can not recommend Collection Cream Puff Matte Lip Creams enough and their pressed powder isn't too be missed either. If you give one brand a second chance to win you over it should be Collection - their reformulated textures and products have not gone unnoticed in this household that is for sure.

Lottie London - the new brush range that is both lust worthy and affordable - don't let the cutesy pastel toned brushes fool you into thinking they are gimmicky. Oh no! Each is wonderfully constructed with sturdy handles, fluffy brush heads that both blend and scrub up well free of splaying and shedding. Did we mention that they are beautiful to look at too? You can find the entire brush and polish range via Superdrug - link.

Max Factor - I used to think Max Factor was aimed at older, more mature women than myself until my sister (yep Adrienne - mature in no sense of the word at all) handed me a bottle of their wonderful primer - Max Factor Facefinity Primer. From that moment on I was hooked. Admittedly Max Factor are one of the more pricer "budget friendly" brands out there but you are almost guaranteed stellar quality. If you have yet to try the new Max Factor Creme Puff Blushes then make them your next port of call - yes they are comparable to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes but I'd go one step further and say they are a little more pigmented.

MUA  - The brand that won us all over with their wonderful and utterly affordable eyeshadow palettes. Yes on the whole MUA can be a little hit and miss - the mascaras and nail polishes do nothing for me yet the eyeshadows and MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquers rival even the priciest of matte lip stains. My advice when it comes to MUA is to really research the products before purchasing. Generally speaking MUA do powder and lip products best but like I said the key is to do your homework with this brand as there are plenty of hidden gems to be found. If I could recommend one product it would be the MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powders.

Make Up Revolution - Perhaps the King of dupes, you can almost guarantee that whatever pricey product you may have your eye on, Make Up Revolution will offer a more affordable solution. Much like the above MUA brand I feel Make Up Revolution really come into their own with powder products be it for the general face area or eyes. Make Up Revolution have every type of palette going from face, eyes, brows and mixed mediums all the while being beyond affordable. My personal pick is the new Ultra 32 Shade Eyeshadow Palette Affirmation Palette - all the eyeshadow shades you could dream of and more.

Teen Beauty - Budget Beauty Brands

B. - Superdrug's in-house premium brand that offers luxury skin and beauty items without a hefty price tag, all of which are cruelty free and Vegan. I'm not all that familiar with B. cosmetics but do regularly purchase B. Micellar Water and their Melting Cleanser. If affordable luxury is what you crave then head to Superdrug. You can explore than brand in full here - link.

John Frieda - Blonde, brunette, bleached, heat fried and all that is in between (including beach ready products) you can beat that John Frieda will offer up a solution. Yes there are far cheaper hair care brands to be found on the UK highstreet but very few offer this level of care (Aussie come a close second) and expertise. It also doesn't hurt that they are forever on offer via Boots!

Model's Own - Barry M are often hailed as the be all and end all of budget nail polishes but personally I feel Model's Own pip them to the post, affordable with wonderful colour collections and more often than not long wearing formulations. The new Models Own Festival Nail Polish in Pink Wellys is my current go to neon!

Soap & Glory - Skincare, make-up and bath and body treats there is a reason the Soap & Glory aisle in my local Boots is forever crowded with women of all ages. Quirky packaging with great innovative products that not only smell great but deliver all that they promise without breaking the bank. I am hard pushed to say what I enjoy most from the expansive line up but would nudge you towards the make-up stand only because it is somewhat slips under the radar. The Soap & Glory Lid Stuff Flawless Finish Eyeshadow Quad in What's Nude, easily one of the best nude palettes I have ever stumbled upon.

Feel free to add to the above list...

Introducing MyDermacenter

If like myself you are an avid fan of French skin care then the arrival of the new shopping destination - MyDermacenter is one you certainly won't want to miss. No longer will you have to flit between various beauty sites in order to find all your favourite French skincare brands and products as MyDermacenter stock them all, from Vichy to La Roche-Posay and even SkinCeutials.

The site itself is super easy to use - I rather like that there are skin type and concern categories such as dry, oily and fine lines to choose from, it makes shopping your ideal product that much easier. As to be expected there is of course cult products such as the La Roche-Posay Effalclar line, items that are not all that easy to source but in demand much like La Roche Serozinc and lesser known items too  - Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier Huile Gourmande Divine Oil is every bit as scrumptious as it sounds.

The good news is that the stock is plentiful across the multiple brands and the prices are more than reasonable. As an added bonus you can register to be in with the chance of being selected to become a VIP panellist - an opportunity to try and review products before anyone else. With every order you will receive two free samples and deliver is free on orders over £40 - music to my ears!

I have also been gifted a 20% off discount code* - TSG4MDC20 valid at www.my-dermacenter.com, should you fancy treating yourself.

*code is valid until 30/06/15 and can only be redeemed once per paying customer. I was compensated with products for this post.

Roger and Gallet Fleur de Figuier Eau de Parfum

If I was not a beauty blogger I seriously doubt that I would be the fig fragrance connoisseur (slight exaggeration) I am today. As a matter of fact I'm willing to bet fig scented products would not play nay part within my home or personal fragrance collection. It was at a blogger meet up I first discovered Diptyque Figuier Candle and have never looked back, as a matter of a fact I actively seek out figgy scented products. The latest addition and fig based launch for that matter is Roger and Gallet Fleur de Figuier Eau de Parfum.

Roger and Gallet Fleur de Figuier Eau de Parfum is of course the more intense and long wearing version of Roger and Gallet Fleur de Figuier Eau de Toilette. I say of course when there is a difference in notes, the eau de toilette is a smidgen fresher with citrus notes where as Roger and Gallet Fleur de Figuier Eau de Parfum is a little deeper, musk based and lacking in sweetness.

Roger and Gallet Fleur de Figuier Eau de Parfum contains notes of candied fig, musk and patchaouli - if you enjoy fig based fragrances then this is one you do not want to miss out on. A warm, fruity yet comforting and oddly familiar blend of notes that is ideal for any occasion or season - personally I find fig scents really come into their own in the Autumn or late Summer. If you have tried the Diptyque Figuier range fell in love, but not so much with the price I can safely say that the Roger & Gallett Fleur de Figuier fragrance line is incredibly similar but marginally cheaper.

A beautiful, rich scent that will appeal to all ages - especially if you enjoy the sweet aroma of figs. A must try for sure.

Barry M Flawless Light Reflecting Concealer

Barry M is a great go to for nail polish but is often overlooked when it comes to make-up staples. The latest item to win me over is the new Barry M Flawless Light Reflecting Concealer range, three light diffusing concealers that not only perfect the skin but brighten too. At just £4.49 a pop they are not to be missed if a shade is suitable for your needs.

The packaging of the Barry M Flawless Light Reflecting Concealers may not be the prettiest but it is more than practical and the brush applicator beats pricer concealers out there. The small brush allows for precise application all the while being gentle, even on the delicate eye area. If you use concealer to highlight the brush applicator really aids this process - I can not fault the brush applicator in case you have not noticed. The plastic style casing of the Barry M Flawless Light Reflecting Concealer is ideal for everyday use and travel, the sturdy design survives a knock or two and the lightweight style is an added bonus - no-one wants a weighed down make-up bag or case.

Before I lay on the praise, thick and heavy for the Barry M Flawless Light Reflecting Concealers I do have to discuss the shade range. Three shades is really limited, especially when all three options are incredibly light. As someone with a light to medium complexion it is not often that I can say that the darkest hue is a smidgen too light for my skin tone, sadly this is the case with the Barry M Flawless Light Reflecting Concealer range. Admittedly I can use Shade 3 Dark to highlight and conceal my under eye area, I however can not use it anywhere else on my face. A quick overview of the shades: Shade 1 Light - a pale, yellow toned ivory, I'd imagine suitable for most pale complexions to brighten and conceal. Shade 2 Medium is a little deeper but again yellow toned and lastly Shade 3 Dark isn't technically all that deep at all, rather it is a more pink toned version of the medium hue. If you have a light complexion or enjoy highlighting with concealers this is the range for you; otherwise I'm afraid it is a waiting game, hoping that one day the limited shade variation will become more expansive.

Barry M Flawless Light Reflecting Concealer

I can truly say that the Barry M Flawless Light Reflecting Concealers are one of the best budget formulations I have stumbled across, they can more than rival the beloved Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. As a matter of a fact I am going to put my cards on the table and state that the Barry M Flawless Light Reflecting Concealer is a great dupe for NARS Creamy Concealer (shades aside of course). The creamy, easy to blend texture, combined with the high yet illuminating (there is no shimmer particles) coverage of this formula makes it a dead ringer for the pricer NARS concealer. The Barry M version glides on to the skin with ease; it is a dream to blend and buff into the skin, it isn't prone to creasing nor oxidising and due to the addition of Cucumber and Aloe it soothes, cools and comforts the eye area - I think this could be ideal for those who suffer from puffy eyes. Rather the creamy texture is hydrating and set with a little powder it wears true, even on my oily skin. If it wasn't for narrow variety of shades I would say this has winner stamped all over it!

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk in Natural Tint

Dry shampoo's are wonderful - a quick solution for greasy and lifeless hair that is more often than not affordable and easy to use. There is however a downside, especially if you have dark hair - I am of course talking about the nightmare that is white residue - the darker the hair colour, the more problematic it can become. Luckily hair care brands have come to notice the dilemma and some now offer up tinted dry shampoo's - one such brand is Klorane.

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk in Natural Tint

Newly launched is Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk in Natural Tint, a peachy nude beige toned dry shampoo that has been developed to suit all hair tones, especially brunette tresses and is said to be loved by Kate Moss and Gwyneth Paltrow. Much like all dry shampoo's the idea is that you mist onto the roots and either work it into the hair using a hairbrush or your finger tips. The added bonus is of course the tint factor, I know what you are thinking the peachy tint will surely appear stark in brown hair? Nope, not even close - at the moment I have some monster brown roots going on and I can vouch that it is quite the wonder. The peachy tinged powder does quickly absorb into the hair adapting to the natural tone, yes this is aimed at brunette hair but I would deem it suitable for deep blondes and redheads too. Do stay clear if you have white, grey or light blonde hair - unless peachy orange roots are of course your calling.

Tint element aside Klorane Dry Shampoo With Oat Milk in Natural Tint is a wonderful dry shampoo, it does all you would want from a dry shampoo and more. It quickly absorbs any traces of oil without being overly heavy - we've all tried dry shampoo's that leave our heads itchy and overloaded with product, well not this. Residue is minimal, it tackles oil wonderfully so (I can achieve one day hair on day four with this), the scent is pleasant - fresh and almost floral that doesn't overwhelm and is entirely unisex. It is one of the better dry shampoo's that I have tried, not to mention free from silicones and parabens. If you have a deeper hair tone and long for something that won't leave the roots chalky this is the one for you.

The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Collection

This month The Body Shop expand their Vitamin C Skin Care collection to include two new glow inducing products: The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser and The Body Shop Vitamin C Instant Glow Enhancer. Both have been formulated to pep up tired, dull skin and create a lit from within glow without the need for shimmer or glitter particles. I couldn't think of two more helpful skin care additions for the upcoming Summer season.

If you are a fan of Origins GinZing Moisturiser and perhaps find it a little pricey and/or require a lighter, gel like texture then The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser should be your next purchase. This lightweight gel, water based moisturiser gently hydrates skin - perfect for oily to normal skin and perhaps dry complexions if teamed with a serum, all the while clarifying and aiding a natural glow to the face. The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser not only cools and calms the skin but it absorbs immediately (it can feel a little tacky for a few seconds but that does disappear) making it the perfect day wear choice - it also does not interfere with the texture or finish of any make-up applied on top but should not be used in place of a primer (that is of course if you rely on one). It leaves my skin feeling plump, nourished and looking fresh - great if you are lacking in sleep. In terms of scent it may surprise you to learn that it rings more aquatic than zesty orange - rest assure the fragrance is gentle and not at all overwhelming. The only downside is that this does not contain an SPF. You can find The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser here for £16/50ml - link.

The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Collection

My favourite item within the new launches has to be the The Body Shop Vitamin C Instant Glow Enhancer, don't be put off by the bright peach appearance this wonder cream both moisturises and colour corrects the complexion. As you may know peach colour correcting products have long been called upon to erase any signs of dullness and in some case dark circles - this tinted moisturiser come primer does all of this and more. I have read reviews from those with fair skin stating that this almost bronzes the skin - I can't say that to be true in my case, rather it somewhat brightens and eradicates any signs of dull skin. I find The Body Shop Vitamin C Instant Glow Enhancer to gently moisturise my skin (I wouldn't use it in place of a moisturiser, rather it is more comparable to a primer), brighten, colour correct and to some extent leave the skin primed. Unlike the above The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser this has a somewhat soft matte finish (I think it would withstand even tropical temperatures) that can help prolong make-up wear. On the other hand it can be used as a stand alone product to brighten and nourish in one quick step. Think of it as an orange tinged BB Cream (minus the SPF protection) that will suit all complexion tones, it is a clever and easy way to add create a radiant complexion without calling upon shimmer based highlighting products. I am smitten. You can find The Body Shop Vitamin C Instant Glow Enhancer here for £14/25ml - link.

Celebrity Fragrances

My beginnings within the world of celebrity fragrance started when I purchased Jennifer Lopez's J-Lo Glow, a first for both of us. Thanks to  magazines and most likely MTV I knew the exact launch date (September 2002), I squirrelled away all my pocket money and begged my Mother to take me to Debenhams to snap up a bottle of my own. I was obsessed with the white lily based scent and really did think I was the coolest kid on the block, drowning my clothing and body in the then pricey elixir. It must have been a pretty miserable experience for any one who had to sit beside me in class or on the bus but my gosh was I happy, in my mind I was one step closer to becoming J-Lo. Fun fact J-Lo was the US's largest selling fragrance of such year and

The other celebrity fragrance I can recall creating pandemonium among my rank of friends was Britney Spears Curious Eau de Parfum, launching back in 2004. I had grew out of my Britney phase (such a statement to type) by this point and lacked interest but I do recall it being the talk of the playground, and the scent of the girls locker room - hey it was a step up from Impulse Body Sprays. After that it somewhat becomes a blur, it seems everyone that played as much as a bit part in pop culture launched a fragrance - even the likes of Colleen Rooney and Snooki from Geordie Shore (yes really!). The novelty had long wore off for myself and I am sure others.

I'm sure the One Direction, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift et al fragrance launches do really well - there wouldn't be follow up editions had they not, but I fail to see the same levels of excitement from the younger generation or maybe I am just becoming a little long in the tooth. Maybe like myself it is a case of been there done that and they'd rather spend their money on tickets to see the act? I know I would - don't hate me but I'd happily go to a Taylor Swift concert.

It seems that if you are a celebrity (and in some cases I use the term loosely), it is expected to bottle your thoughts and sell them to the masses. I hate to say it but it has become a little naff - some smell incredible, which more often than not is unexpected but they certainly lack in the cool stakes. There doesn't seem to be any passion or creativity in the launches at the moment, just a quick way to make a buck or two using generic notes - much like when popular fragrance houses churn out a rose tinged version of their best selling scent.

Basically I am over celebrity fragrances, the excitement has gone and there is quite literally no one person within the media that could change that for me. Having said that I am grateful for the memories and hope that the younger Swifties (yep I went there) had a similar experience when Taylor by Taylor Swift launched.

Over to you, have celebrity fragrances had their day or do you still look forward to certain launches? More importantly (because I am nosey) what was the first celebrity endorsed scent you purchased.
