Party Wear with Silverburn

This is a sponsored post.

Now that it is December, I am sure we all have a few parties and invites to events that require a little more effort than my (and maybe your) current uniform of jeans, boots and a very warm coat. If like myself you are local to Silverburn shopping center you are in luck, as all the major retailers are brimming full of the most beautiful party wear options. Armed with my trusty Silverburn PLUS app available on iTunes or Google Play, I visited all my favourite clothing stores to track down this season’s biggest trends to show you what is out there - expect sequins and a lot of them!

Classic
Can you really go far wrong with great tailoring and/or a classic black dress? Elegant and ever-timeless this is a style that suits everyone and will of course look great regardless of the season or event. I found that Next is a great one-stop shop for classic and well cut pieces, from bejewelled, yet simple, black dresses, to studded monochrome pumps. For a touch of lace you will find beautiful dresses both in Debenhams (the nude and black dress) and New Look (the plain and utterly affordable all black lace skater dress). New Look is also great for the finishing touches such as classic clutch bags in all shades.

I was hoping to find a white or black tux, which of course would be a great and somewhat modern spin on classic tailoring, but it appears lady luck was against me. I will continue to search though and until then a tailored, subtly checked blazer-come-dress from River Island will tide me over - don't you think such item would look great as a dress or layered over jeans for day-to-day wear?

Romantic
When I think of winter fashion, I often imagine bright-yet-rich gem tones and lots of velvet. I think there is something super feminine and almost Victorianesque in high and detailed collared, crisp white blouses, paired with luxe velvet dresses and skirts. I can't help but feel somewhat inspired by Lana Del Rey when shopping for such lush and delicate fabrics. Not only is such a trend perfect for parties, especially if paired with dramatic make-up and simple heels, but it can be paired down for everyday wear. Luckily this trend is everywhere I look, Topshop particularly comes up trumps with beautiful bold, high neck lace dresses such as the above bright red offering. It was also in such store that I found a few classic, yet detailed, white blouses (great for tucking into skirts or shorts). H&M is also a great spot for picking up interesting blouses, especially if you are in the market for one with black neck ties and detailing. For layering, River Island has plenty of gorgeous, bejewelled shirt collars.

Rock n Roll
For years now Kate Moss has been my party wear inspiration, nobody quite does lived-in glamour like her. Think sequins, edgy boots, a well-cut leather jacket and of course lots of eyeliner. If sequins are your true calling you must pay a visit to Next and look out for the plain black sequin dress. I personally think this is the ideal style for teaming with a tough, black jacket and perhaps bold shoes. Speaking of shoes, Next has plenty of bright yet simple shoes that will add a pop of colour to a simple, yet edgy, outfit. If you'd prefer a more detailed sequin dress, River Island has the most beautiful cream and silver sequin dress that could somewhat be roughed up with touches of leather.
My other recommendation would be a leopard print dress (it's coming back trust me), pair it with simple yet high shoes and lots of red lipstick. If you are particularly adventurous, why not back-comb your hair?

Minimalist
So maybe all-out glamour isn't quite your thing, perhaps you are a fan of simple-yet-effective clothing? Clean lines, muted shades and - if you are feeling particularly adventurous - a statement necklace – understated, yet utterly fabulous. If clean lines and light colours are your calling, I would recommend popping into River Island. It has lots of co-ordinates made interesting with suede-like materials. For simple shift dresses try H&M and New Look, both have affordable options in jewel tones. New Look also currently has simple, elegant and well-tailored black lace dresses - made all the prettier with blush accents.

Disco
It's the festive period, when else can you go all out and make the best use of glitter and, of course, sequins? You can draw inspiration from the 70's and pair big hair with brightly coloured sequins and lots of faux fur, or perhaps settle for a form-fitting and somewhat sexy bedazzled dress, either way it will be all eyes on you. My personal picks include the most beautiful, green and intricately sequined mini skirt that would look great with just about any top. For a 70's inspired body con dress New Look is your next port of call for its metallic zig zag number, it is also here that you will find stunning beaded clutch bags and faux fur wraps. Fabulous.

Let's face it at this time of the year clothing shopping can be a nightmare, first there is the logistics of the high street - do you risk taking the car or not? What should you wear as it may rain or even snow and then there are the crowds. No thank you. Glaswegians (and surrounding areas) I not only urge you to visit Silverburn shopping centre, it is here that you will find all the usual high street giants (and more) all under one roof - it is also well serviced by not only a huge car park but also public transport services. Just think you could be warm and comfortable this winter whilst you choose the perfect party dress.

If you do decide to visit be sure to download the Silverburn Plus App, it not only features a store directory but lots of exclusive discounts too.
