I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you can, I fully recommend waiting until the festive period is upon us before replacing or purchasing any beauty tool. Why? Well it is from late October onwards that all the value brush sets begin popping up in store, why wouldn't you want more bang for your buck? For all those who are fans of Real Techniques brushes (and I'm guessing that is around 99.9% of us?), your luck is in for just £20 you can be the proud owner of the Real Techniques Deluxe Holiday Gift Set - a kit of five, full sized brushes and a dinky clutch bag. The perfect gift for any beauty lover, even if said person happens to be yourself.
I've seen a few reviews and it seems that the free clutch bag hasn't been all that well received. Having spoke to both Sam and Nic Chapman I can tell you that the idea was to add a little something extra to make the kit more gift-able, the clutch hasn't been designed to hold your daily essentials but rather is to be seen as a mini brush bag. Personally I'm with the masses in saying that I won't be using the clutch bag but do think it is a nice gesture.
Let's be honest you purchase a kit like the Real Techniques Deluxe Holiday Gift Set, for one reason only and that is to grab discounted brushes. This nifty kit not only includes three core brushes that most of will benefit from having duplicates of but two additional brushes as well. The full line up is as follows:
Real Techniques Multi Task Brush: a large fluffy brush that can be used to apply all types of powder and is ideal for blending out harsh lines when contouring or as a quick option for covering large areas of the face, i.e when applying setting powder.
Real Techniques Tapered Foundation Brush (kit exclusive): a dense, stubby brush that has been created for applying liquid foundation but I do find it can be a little time consuming. It is however ideal for using in conjunction with cream blushes, contour and highlighting products.
Real Techniques Angled Highlighter Brush (kit exclusive): As the name suggests this is the ideal brush for applying a light dusting of highlighter, it is also wonderful for setting the under eye area.
Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush: a fluffy, somewhat tapered brush that can be used to pack on eye shadow (cream or powder) and of course, is ideal for blending out harsh lines.
Real Techniques Finer Liner Brush: a great brush for precise application of gel or liquid eye liner.
I do think that the quality of the Real Techniques Deluxe Holiday Gift Set brushes is great. My only gripe is that my Fine Liner brush isn't cut quite as well as the stand alone version but then again I may have a dud? However as it works out to be £4 a brush, I do think this kit is quite the steal and ideal for those looking to grab a duplicate brush or two, try the brand or to gift someone just starting out in the world of make up.

I didn't even see this on the Superdrug website the other day so I've ordered the core collection instead arrgh! I love it when a set has a bit more variety like this one so you can have brushes for your facial products like foundation and then ones for eyeshadow as well! Most of the Real Techniques kits are one or the other! x
