An Autumn Yankee Candle Haul

Technically as I purchased my Yankee Wax Tarts in the U.S they are part of the "Fall" collection but as I am European, I can't quite bring myself to type "Fall" - well without quotation marks anyway. So yes, last week while in the U.S I found myself in a Yankee store, promising myself that I wouldn't purchase anything as any candle space in my luggage was reserved for Bath and Body Works. As you can see that feel on deaf ears but in a somewhat inner compromise (and to save precious space in my suitcase), I allowed myself to purchase one or two...okay ten Yankee Candle Wax Tarts.

The good news (well at least for me it is), is that most of the Yankee scents I purchased are not readily available within the UK; a quick eBay search and you will find all of the scents below and fairly reasonably priced too. The bad news? I've become hooked on home fragrances that I can't just pop into town and purchase freely (get your tiny violins out for me).

I have a "thing" for apples, not necessarily the taste but more the fragrance, it has got to the stage that I find it difficult not to purchase anything apple scented. With such confession out in the open, I'm sure it will come of little surprise that I purchased three, apple tinged Yankee Wax Tarts. Let's start with my favourite shall we? Yankee Apple Pumpkin is a scent I go out of my way to purchase yearly; sometimes it is available in the UK, other times not so much. It is well worth seeking out, even if that means dealing with online auction sites as it truly smells like Autumn - rich, fruity and of course ever so slightly Pumpkin based. If Hallmark scented their Autumn greeting cards, I'm almost certain that this is what they'd select.

My other Apple inspired purchases include Yankee Apple Spice - imagine a warm apple pie, combined with cinnamon and you won't go far wrong. Not my favourite but a great, warming fragrance none the less. I also have Yankee Apple Cider which is a far more intense Apple based scent that is deceptively festive due to notes of clove and nutmeg.

On a whim I purchased three, almost outdoor-sy type Yankee scents: Yankee Autumn in the Park Harvest and Mountain Lodge. Yankee Candle Autumn in the Park is a fairly delicate scent that contains hints of lemon and pumpkin. If you aren't a fan of spice based fragrances but want something a little more Autumnal than your usual fruity selections, then this is a good scent to seek out. Admittedly Yankee Harvest was a gamble, and a scent I'm still not completely sold on. What I can say is that the blend of golden spices, autumn fruits (apple and pumpkin), combined with cinnamon, cloves, and musk, does offer a homely, cosy, almost kitchen like scent. Not my favourite by a long shot but an oddly comforting scent none the less. I am however more than enamoured by Yankee Mountain Lodge - clean, crisp and slightly masculine. It smells a little like the outdoors - when I burn it I half expect to be greeted by a man in a check shirt and his pet Eagle.

Does anyone else eat a lot of Doughnuts come the colder months? No, just me? I'll admit that I purchased Yankee Candle Sugar & Spice purely due to the label hinting that it may be reminiscent of sugary Doughnuts. It's not. Rather it is more akin with Cinnamon Buns, not a bad thing at all but I do find I develop hunger pangs when burning it.

I love Pumpkin scented products and I adore Ginger in general so you'd think Yankee Candle Pumpkin Ginger Bark would be a match made in heaven? Not so. Something is a little off and I can't quite put my finger on it, combined this scent is heavy and doesn't quite do justice to any of the core notes - ginger, pumpkin and vanilla.

Lastly we have two, delicious and berry focused scents - Yankee Lush Berries and Yankee Cranberry Chutney. Yankee Lush Berries is the perfect Autumn/Winter pick me up fragrance, bright, bold, somewhat sweet and dare I say it, a tad reminiscent of home made jam. This is the perfect scent to burn on a lazy Sunday or while baking.

In my opinion Cranberry scents are often overlooked here in the UK, I'm not sure why as they are gloriously festive without being glaringly obvious. Yankee Candle Cranberry Chutney is the best parts of the season combined into one scent - think hints of honey, cranberry, raisins and orange zest, all rolled into one, neat, little package. I imagine this to be a great Thanksgiving scent?

As mentioned above most of the Yankee Candle fragrances within this post can not be found on the UK high street, you can however source certain scents via Yankee Candle and of course eBay/Amazon.
