I was first turned on to Dr. Pawpaw Multi-purpose Balms after reading an article in which Nicole Richie cites the original balm as her go to, to resolve all manners of dry skin. Right there and then I was intrigued and ordered a tube to test out. If you enjoy apply everywhere, use on everything and everyone, kind of products then you are going to want to give at least one of the Dr. Pawpaw Balms a whirl.
In a nutshell Dr. Pawpaw Multi-purpose Balms are natural, skin soothing and moisturising balms that can be applied anywhere you require additional moisture. If that is not enough, the thick, non-greasy (so much so I use it on my hands) balm acts like a barrier to prevent the skin from drying our or chapping - ideal for the cold and wet weather that is most certainly on the way.
I'd imagine that the most common use for all three of the Dr. Pawpaw Balms will be as an intensive lip treatment, in terms of texture it reminds me a lot of Vaseline (don't worry this formula is petroleum free). A soft, quick to absorb into the skin, thick balm that is not sticky in the slightest nor greasy and does leave behind a light sheen. On the lips it almost feels a little like lip gloss yet on areas such as the hands and face in general, it is far less noticeable both in finish and texture. As I said you can use this natural balm pretty much anywhere, hey you don't get to use the multi-purpose tag without being flexible. Some common uses include: applying to the cuticles, in place of a hand cream, on chapped skin, on the elbows and/or knees and any other dried out area - the world is your oyster. The tinted versions double up as blushes come highlighters too.
In the instance of the tinted versions of the Dr. Pawpaw Multi-purpose Balms, all of the above is true only, they add a hint of colour to the lips and skin too. The original Dr. Pawpaw Balm is completely transparent, where as Dr. Pawpaw Tinted Ultimate Red Balm features a light, natural and somewhat yellow toned red that suit suit most complexions. Unlike a traditional red lip product this does not mask the natural colour of the lips, rather it adds a hint of a tint and enhances what you already have. For those like myself who prefer coral and peach toned lip products, I can not recommend Dr. Pawpaw Tinted Ultimate Peach Pink Balm enough. A light yet bright pink based coral that is rather intensely pigmented, in terms of overall shade it is not far removed from the beloved MAC Ever Hip Lipstick. I must add that this is more opaque than the red option and is not a my lips but better shade, rather think of it as the best coral tinted lip balm you have tried.
Hey if it is good enough for Nicole Richie...
These are so inexpensive for such a versatile product. Thank you for this detailed review <3

I just checked their website and it says that the balms contain petrolatum. It's sneaky as listed last but seems it may be the main ingredient!
ReplyDeletePerfectly timed post, I was just thinking this morning I needed to get a cuticle balm but didn't know what to get. Decision made!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this post - I was gonna add Dr Paw Paw into my shopping list but was sceptical but hey, guess who's having an online shopping now? x
