Thanks to the current 90's beauty rival, lip liners are big news. Taking the fuss out of such product line is the new Clarins Nude Lipliner Pencils; four nude toned lip liners that have been created to compliment various skin tones and be worn with most lipstick shades, or of course as a standalone lip product.
The Clarins Nude Lipliner Pencils are presented in a fairly basic fashion, simple colour coordinated outer plastic pencils with gold accents and no additional features such as a brush or sharpener. Despite being plastic (they sharpen effortlessly) the pencils are fairly weighted making for easy application. As far as lip liners go they are fairly pretty but more importantly they are well formulated and a dream to apply (and sharpen, anyone would think I have an obsession with sharpening lip liners huh?).
As mentioned above, the main concept behind the Clarins Nude Lipliner Pencils is that you purchase the shade best suited to your skin tone rather than your favourite lipstick; the perfect nude lip liner will compliment your complexion and live up to the "nude" claim. Think enhancing your natural features and along the lines of "my lips but better" and you won't go far wrong with the Clarins Nude Lipliner Pencils. It also goes without saying that you can purchase and wear any shade you wish.
All in there are four shades:
01 Nude Fair - this light, yellow tinged pink brown has been created for fair skin tones. It also couples well with most light pink, nude and pink/brown lipsticks.
02 Nude Beige - Oddly two shades have been created for medium complexions, this is for those with yellow undertones. Again this is a pink tinged brown, come nude shade that pairs with most neutral toned lipsticks. Personally I would deem this a great everyday shade for all light to medium skin tones.
03 Nude Rose - This is the other shade designed for medium complexions, this is smidgen deeper and more brown in tone and is aimed at those with a cool skin tone. I would deem this to be a chocolate brown shade with a somewhat pink leaning. It isn't all that dissimilar to MAC Whirl lip liner and is a great nude shade for deeper medium toned gals and guys as well as deep complexions.
04 Nude Mocha - Is the shade aimed at dark skin tones, a deep almost plum toned brown that has been created to be universally flattering on deep complexions. It is a beautiful shade worn alone or used to add a little definition to re-shape the lips.
As with most lip liners the finish is matte; a drier texture helps to prevent lipstick from bleeding, slipping or sliding. Despite this revelation the new Clarins Nude Lipliner Pencils are almost balm come gel like and glide on to the lips, free from drying or clinging to dry patches of the lips. They are comfortable, lightweight and long wearing. I'm in no way saying they are a dupe (they can't be as they are in the same price bracket) but the formulation is fairly akin to Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Pencils. In a nutshell? Soft, easy to apply and long wearing lip pencils, in natural shades that will stand the test of time in terms of beauty trends.

I know what you mean about sharpening as I really don't like the twist up lip liners! These are some lovely colours, thanks for sharing your thoughts <3

It's a shame they're not twist up, but the colours are amazing - perfect brown shades I'd love in my collection!

lipliner is something I love, but rarely spash out on. All i can think is "ITS A PENCIL!" with a £10-£20 pricetag it makes me cry. I need to get over this. But I do love all the drugstore options. The Natural Collection from boots have a fab colour choice :)

This collection looks good! Too often brands try to get away with a one-size-fits-all nude - which is simply not true!
