Liz Earle Botanical Essence No.20 Eau de Parfum

Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of attending afternoon tea with Liz Earle (yes the person and the brand) and would count it as one of my blogging career highlights. Liz Earle is one of those few people in which I not only believe every word she has to say but could listen to, attentively for hours - her daughter Lily Earle is equally as lovely. I popped along to learn about skin care, new launches et al and walked away with a new lease of life, well as far as blogging goes anyway. I'm struggling to quite sum up how insightful the afternoon was, rather than muddle along jumbling my words, let me share a few thoughts and key pieces of information in regards to the new Liz Earle fragrance - Liz Earle Botanical Essence No.20 Eau de Parfum.

Rose as a note is something I flutter in and out of love with, the problem is much like lavender the synthetic note smells nothing at all like the flower of the same name. If you find yourself sharing your disdain for powder rose scents or sleepy lavender notes, at the first opportunity test pure oils of the same name and I have a feeling your attitude may change - I know mine did. What sets Liz Earle fragrances aside from the majority if not all, is that each scent contains natural oils for authentic notes.

Liz Earle Botanical Essence No.20 Eau de Parfum is a beautiful, floral explosion - fresh yet comforting, familiar and as the recycled glass bottle may hint - super feminine. As soon as I tested it, I instantly thought of a Turkey and Bulgaria, this is thanks to the Turkish Rose Absolute - a robust and bright floral note. Yes rose is at the centre but this is a rose fragrance like no other, it is not dusky, powdery nor dated; rather it is fresh, uplifting and somewhat youthful, and as such I have no real point of comparison. The closest fragrance relation I can think of is Stella McCartney, Stella Eau de Toilette, not identical at all but both modern, rose based fragrances.

The full and dare I say it special note composition of Liz Earle Botanical Essence No.20 Eau de Parfum, is as follows: pink pepper, bergamont, rose water and mandarin essential oil as the top, bright, opening notes. At the heart there is Turkish rose absolute, carrot (yes really!) and jasmine sambac for a sensual touch. To ensure depth and longevity at the base amyris, sandalwood and vanilla intermingle for a warm and rich final kick.

Liz Earle Botanical Essence No.20 Eau de Parfum launches in early October and will cost £49/50ml.
