Birchbox UK August 2015 Review Contents

The latest Birchbox has landed and the theme is beauty junkies, without giving away too much (exit now if you don't want any spoilers), this month's box is jam packed with mainly make-up and skin care items and a few little extras. In short it is a great box and here is what is inside Birchbox UK August 2015.

The additional item along with all the beauty goodies is a super sweet sheet of stickers, all of which feature illustrations of various beauty products come emojis. The idea is that you can of course personalise the physical box with the stickers that best reflect you, or save them to decorate whatever you wish. However you decide to use the stickers I think we can all agree that they are sweet and most likely will come in handy at some point.

Let's begin with the bath and body items shall we? In the Birchbox UK August there is not only a body scrub but also a shampoo and facial scrub, in great travel friendly sizes (not to skimpy yet compact enough for stashing in the smallest of backpacks).

So inside you will find:
- Rituals Ayurveda Scrub (70ml)
- Kebelo Clarifying Shampoo (50ml)
- Huygens Le Gommage Visage (facial scrub/10ml)

A few quick thoughts, Rituals Ayurveda Scrub is a product I have used on and off over the years and I can vouch that it does all it says on the tin - beautifully fragrant, all the while gently softening and buffing the skin. I quickly tried Kebelo Clarifying Shampoo this morning to wash out a lot of hairspray and found it to be deeply cleansing and not overly drying. As an added bonus it is pretty much fragrance free. Lastly Huygens Le Gommage Visage is a little too harsh for my needs. I would imagine that those with a drier complexion and a lighter touch may enjoy using this citrus scented facial scrub occasionally.

Now on to the make-up, three well known brands, three fairly deluxe samples all of which are not only fitting to the box's overall theme but perfect for Summer too. There is a blush, bronzer come eyeshadow and a hydrating primer.

- Illamasqua Hydra Veil Primer (3ml)
- Lord & Berry Blush in Lotus (refill pan)
- The Balm Desert Bronzer/Blush (0.8g)

Again a few quick notes on each product: Illamasqua Hydra Veil Primer is a light, cooling gel based primer that not only encourages make-up to stay in place but also hydrates and nourishes the skin. The Lord & Berry Blush in Lotus is a little messy to use as it is such a small pan (it may fair better as an eyeshadow for that reason) but the muted, warm rose shade is universally flattering. Lastly we have The Balm Desert Bronzer/Blush, again a little on the small side but a nice enough, warm satin bronzer that should suit most light to medium complexions.
