Today Tarte via QVC unveiled the Tarte Best Face Forward Collection, a line up of six pieces and a make-up bag for just £38.40 - a great value kit that not only lets you try several pieces from the brand but provides and entire make-up look. I am more than a little enamoured with the pretty packaging and make-up bag (very 70's and Missoni, wouldn't you agree?) but the products are equally if not more wonderful. Here are my thoughts on the entire Tarte Best Face Forward Collection...
So yes you will not only receive a good few make-up items (more on that below) but also a huge, canvas style make-up bag that has been especially designed for QVC. It is a really great size - it will more than hold your daily essentials and has been well made too. The other kit exclusive is the Tarte Double Ended Brush - truly a brilliant tool for applying base products. As you can see one end is tapered for precise and targeted application (think around the nose and facial contours) and the other a flat kabuki style - idea for buffing liquid foundation into the skin. I have said it before but Tarte brushes are not to be overlooked, they are not only vegan but beyond soft and a dream to use and wash. I would happily but this brush on it's own...just saying.
The good news is that Tarte recognise that one shade does not suit all so you can select what shade of Tarte Clay CC Primer (Fair, Light, Medium, Tan and Deep) your receive within the kit. Essentially this product not only helps to blur fine lines, enlarged pores but also colour correct the skin thanks to a blend of custom pigments. The idea is that you apply this all over the face (or only where is needed, the call is yours), blend and then apply foundation on top for a smooth, flaw free and colour corrected base that will grip on to any product applied on top. You can also use it alone as it does somewhat cover blemishes too. My only gripe is that it doesn't really offer oil control and as an oily skinned gal that is a necessity not a want but otherwise a clever innovation!
For your lips there is Tarte Lip Surgence Lip Crème in Vintage - a bright almost magenta pink that has a slight blue undertone and pigment galore. One quick swipe not only provides a creamy, long lasting veil of colour but also thanks to a blend of vitamins and natural oils a hydration boost too. As it is a chunky crayon come pencil you can not only use it to fill the lips but line too.
It pains me a little that Tarte Eyeshadows don't get nearly as much credit as they are due - soft, silken textures that are wonderfully pigmented, easy to blend and apply and really long wearing with or without a primer. If neutrals are your calling you won't want to miss out on the Tarte Best Face Forward Collection Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Quad - okay the bright, matte white could do with a little work (it is chalky and weakly pigmented) but the other three shades are more than stellar. As a side note each eyeshadow has of course been infused with coloured clay to prolong wear and control oil - so clever.

I have wanted to try Tarte for ages and still have yet to get my hands on it. I love the look of the Lights, Camera, Lashes 4in1 mascara. It sounds perfect as I have short sparse lashes. I also love the looks of the eyeshadows especially with that packaging. I will be checking out QVC.

I'm not usually overly excited about new collections, but oh my god this one looks amazing. The packaging alone is gorgeous, but so is the blush!

I use the waterproof version of the mascara so "Lashes" becomes "Splashes" for me and it's one of my favourites!

This didn't disappoint for me either, as a big lights camera lashes fan I of course had to buy it and agree with the eyeshadows point they are just so buttery! I have a large palette from Tarte so glad to have a small one to travel with too!
