New Clinique Cheek Pop Blushes Shades

The prettiest blushes in all the land, yes I could only be talking about the Clinique Cheek Pop Blushes! This summer sees the flower embossed powders return with four new and equally beautiful shades. If you have yet to try the often raved about formula let me give you the low down.

There's not all that much to say about the packaging of the  Clinique Cheek Pop Blushes- small, sturdy transparent casing that allows you to see the shade held within and exactly just as the previous shades. The unique selling point is of course the beautiful Gerbera print that is centre place on each blush - it almost, and I say almost made it difficult to disturb the design to try out the blush. The pans of the Clinique Cheek Pop Blushes are well sized and should accommodate even the fluffiest of blush brushes.

So yes four new shades of the Clinique Cheek Pop Blushes two of which I have been kindly gifted to share: Melon Pop and Pink Pop. Both shades are relatively light and very fitting for the Summer months and/or for those who prefer a more subtle approach to blush. Clinique Melon Pop is a light yet bright, yellow based orange coral. It reminds me a little of MAC Melba Blush only this is a little lighter in tone. Personally I wouldn't recommend this for any one with a dark complexion or a deep tan as it can apply a little ashen, a pretty shade but Melon Pop is better suited for light to medium skin tones. Clinique Cheek Pop in Pink Pop is deceivingly light in pan form yet swatched it takes on an altogther deeper and duskier tone. Forget how  Clinique Cheek Pop in Pink Pop appears within the pan, I'm here to tell you that applied to the skin it is a mid toned, blue based pink that is very similar to MAC Mocha but a smidgen brighter. I adore shades of this type as I find you can also subtly contour and sculpt the face, as well as adding a quick pop of colour. Despite being a huge coral fan Clinique Cheek Pop in Pink Pop is the blush I'd recommend out of the two for just about every skin tone.

The texture of the Clinique Cheek Pops is something else - it's not quite a cream nor is it a powder and perhaps best described as a hybrid of the two. It has a firm almost powder like consistency yet doesn't crumble or flake when rubbed, rather it somewhat melts and creates a non-sticky, silken and somewhat satin texture that melts on to the skin. If you struggle with dry skin and/or enlarged pores this is the blush for you - light weight, extremely comfortable to wear and a dream to apply, not to mention it somewhat blurs skin imperfections. The beauty of the Clinique Cheek Pops is that they are so pigmented that no skin tone will struggle in terms of colour pay off - as mentioned above lighter shades can translate a tad chalky on deeper complexions. The Cheek Pops also have an interesting finish - technically matte yet never flat, all the while offering a brightening effect without the need for glitter or shimmer particles. They build well without caking and also sheer out with a large fluffy brush and a little blending. In terms of wear I do have to be honest in saying that my oily skin somewhat destroys this line of blushes - without a primer I'm lucky if I can achieve 5 hours of wear without requiring a touch up. On drier and more normal complexions I have seen this formulation wear for up to 8 hours without signs of fading.

You can find all eight shades of the Clinique Cheek Pop Blushes for £16.50 each via Clinique - link.
