If you have seen me in person recently, you will no doubt either have noticed or commented on my current re-growth situation. My naturally dark brown roots are more than peeking through my masses of bleached blonde hair - in fact it almost looks like I have some sort of ombre dye job going on. News flash I don't. I'm not proud of it (well to an extent I am, it kinda shows how quickly my hair grows and is a little reassuring) but it has allowed me to come to the conclusion that I do want to continue life as I know it as a blonde. Every cloud and all that, most people wouldn't wait until their regrowth hits their chin but then again I'm not most people.
Yes it is a damaging process but generally I take really good care of my hair so I am not too worried about the return to blonde. My biggest issue is keeping my bleached locks looking fresh, my hair has a tendency to turn brassy and almost instantly. Out of convenience I more often than not purchase Pro:Voke Touch of Silver Shampoo which is more than fine if not a little over enthusiastic in its ways. Sometimes I find the deep violet shampoo can tinge my hair lilac and despite only using as directed (twice a week) it can be a little on the drying side. The other toning shampoo aimed at blonde hair that I have been loyal to is Lush Daddy-O Shampoo; nice enough but admittedly it does not cleanse as deep as I require. I used to purchase any silver or purple shampoo I could get my hands on but as the only blonde in my household (and circle of friends) it is becoming a pricey and ineffective habit.
So calling all fellow blondes past and present, natural or aided please let me know what shampoo (and other hair care products) you rely on to prevent brassiness. Ideally I would like something that I can pick up in the likes of Boots and Superdrug and won't cost an arm and leg; if you do have a pricey wonder product, feel free to share my yellowed tresses need all the help they can get!
As a side note I picked up the above mini bottle of Pro:Voke Touch of Silver Shampoo from the Poundshop of all places. I couldn't help think it would be great for taking on holiday but also the gym, or even if you have yet to try the formula out for yourself.
Wow - poundshop bargin! How much was it again ;) ... I have never dyed my hair. I have been laying off the straighteners though, so I might treat myself to a golden or red tint! How do you take care of dyed hair?

Babe, without a shadow of a doubt, coming from someone who has tried every single purple shampoo under the sun, including the one you have! Lee Stafford Beach Blondes range is amazing! I also really liked the Fudge Clean Blonde Violet Toning Shampoo! Try washing your hair first with a regular shampoo, and then on the second cleanse, use a very small amount of purple/silver shampoo and wash very very quickly. then rinse! hope this helps!!

I was recently sent the Jerome Bblonde toner, I think they're looking to work with bloggers if you check out their twitter! I'm yet to try so can't comment on whether it's good or not yet but it looks promising :) x
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like an amazing shampoo!

Aaaalll about the Lee Stafford purple shampoo, it is a god send!!!! Xxxx
ReplyDeleteI SWEAR by schwarzkopf bonacure silver shampoo. I used touch of silver for years and literally after one use of this stuff I noticed such a bigger difference. Also you can get a huge bottle in Sallys (and online) for about £14 which lasts agess.
ReplyDeleteI loved using the Provoke as a budget friendly option, but my splurge option will forever be Fudge Clean Blonde Violet Toning Shampoo. It's tones beautifully, smells great and isn't too drying either!

I also use the Schwartzkopf bonacure silver shampoo and it's by far my favourite. I used it/needed it only once a week ( cause it really was so effective without turning your hair purple'ish) and it lasted me for a very long time !
ReplyDeleteThis looks so cool!

Lee Stafford Bleach Blondes wins for me! Although I prefer this brand's conditioner to the Lee Stafford one so it's a bit of a mix and match situation haha!!! x
ReplyDeleteLoreal Professional Lumino Contrast, my hairdresser recommended it to me after I told her I was using a purple one and she said this was better to keep your tone cool without the blue tinge that the silver ones can leave.

I'm platinum at the moment. I like Aveda Blue Malva & also Fudge clean blonde toning shampoo & conditioner. I also highly recommend the violet tinted mousse by Fudge. :-)
ReplyDeleteI swear by the Bleach London purple shampoo (you can get it in bigger Boots stores). It's the only one I've used that properly brings ashy tones back to my hair. The Led Stafford one is ok but makes my hair pink tinged! Have to say, I don't think the Provoke one does much!
ReplyDeleteBLEACH London silver shampoo & conditioner are brilliant for keeping brass at bay & don't dry out your hair like some purple shampoos do. I've been asked if I've gotten my colour done after having used them. I generally leave the shampoo in for about 10 minutes before rinsing, any more & id be afraid it'd turn lilac.
ReplyDeleteBit pricey but if you can get to a tk maxx they usually have the huge salon sized bottles of tigi. I got the fashionist shampoo and a conditioner for £23 in total. They are usually £25 each. They dont have sulphates, stop the brassyness, make your hair really shiny and soft :)! Xxx
ReplyDeleteMatrix So Silver or Schwarzkopf Bonacure! Best I have tried :)
ReplyDeleteI'm currently rocking some nice white/silvery hair using BLEACH London silver shampoo (I tried the conditioner but I don't really like it). It's the only one that doesn't make my hair purple and helps my naturally blonde roots to "blend in" flawlessly with the rest of the hair.
ReplyDeleteSince I'm from Italy I buy from the Boots' website when there's a 3x2 offer, 10£ for three 250ml bottles is totally a steal!
I love the Fudge Clean Blonde Violet Toning Shampoo, I've only ever tried a couple of blond shampoos and this one has stuck with me ever since the first application. Whole heartedly recommend it :) x
ReplyDeleteSuperdrugsown brand of conditioning toner is pretty good and so cheap! I currently use the copper and red to keep my ginger hair looking shiny and my friend uses the blonde one to stop her hair from going yellow :)

Hi Lovely, my daughter loves the Bleach London silver shampoo, she has tried the touch of silver and Lee Stafford but she prefers the Bleach London one and the first time she used it her hair looked amazing, she loves it. It's £5.00 from Boots, hope that helps :) xxx
ReplyDeleteI love the provoke shampoo and conditioner! The live colour xxl toner mousse is really good too and you get three uses out of a can!

ReplyDeleteI love the Bleach London silver shampoo and conditioner. It's the only one I've ever tried because I find it does everything that I need it to. Would highly recommend it, my hair is always so soft and less brassy looking afterwards.

I hate the smell of this shampoo, plus the purple look it leaves you with, agree with Rosie on the Bleach London Range.
