They say beauty starts within and that skin care can only do so much. A healthy diet is required to keep ourselves in tip top condition, complexions included. Easier said than done and I am the very last person to nag you about eating your green's and downing your daily water quota. I do try, that is all you can really do isn't it? I'm not going to beat myself up for having the odd slice of pizza or cake - everything in moderation and that includes junk food. Which is what leads me to sharing my thoughts on the Deliciously Ella cookbook, the musings and eating habits of a fellow blogger - Ella Woodward.

Like most I purchased the Deliciously Ella spurred on by the countless tweets and blog posts surrounding the launch. I was utterly convinced that it wouldn't live up to the hype and I'd return it within days (you've got to love Amazon Prime), when in actual fact it is a great read. Is it revolutionary? No but it is honest, easy to follow with simple and concise steps, completed with darling photographs - all of which should allow it to earn a place on your bookshelf. Deliciously Ella is brimming full of great ideas all of which are based around ditching refined sugar - something a good few of us are trying to at least minimise the consumption of. Yes most recipes could be found online for free but then again show me a cook book or any advice style literature for that matter, you couldn't say that about?

I rather enjoy that Deliciously Ella has not lost the author's voice, it reads with a certain friendlessness and familiarity - never stuffy, preachy, flouncy nor know it all. As you'd hope from a blogger there is little personal touches along the way such as the authors personal story and tid bits with each recipe on why it was chosen, notes on ingredients, a frequently asked question section coupled with a guide to stocking not only your fridge but kitchen.  The recipe section is vast and meat free (not that you will miss it), I very much doubt I'll try them all - like most will I tend to gravitate healthier and dare I say it easier options of food I already know and love. I have made Ella's Salsa and Ten Minute Pasta frequently enough to now forgo lugging the book into the kitchen with me - this says it all really. As someone with slight Lactose Intolerance (don't worry every now and then I live on the edge and nibble on cheese) the Classic Mashed Potato recipe that sidesteps butter and milk has come in handy on more than one occasion and always goes down well at family gatherings.

Before I get carried away and share what I am planning to eat tonight, let me wrap this post up by saying that I do recommend Deliciously Ella to anyone who wants to lower or cut out refined sugar, and to those who simply want a collection of scrumptious yet easy to follow recipes.
