I've spoke countless times about Zoeva brushes - it is safe to say I am a huge fan, if you are due new brushes or simply want to expand your collection this is the brand to seek out. Well priced, well made and a dream to work with - what more could you ask for. I live for face make-up brushes and do tend to neglect eye make-up brushes to a degree, so it was more than wonderful to have the opportunity to road test the Zoeva Rose Gold Complete Eye Kit.
Not only do you get 12 full sized and versatile brushes for all your eye make-up needs but also a well sized faux leather brown (complete with rose gold accents) pouch to neatly stash away all your brushes when not in use. I more than realise that £56 isn't exactly cheap but as each brush comes in at just a little over £4 each for quality that is more than comparable with MAC it is worth the splurge. For me it is not only important that each brush performs well i.e makes application a little easier but is also gentle on the skin as well as washing up well after use. I can happily say that Zoeva brushes are all of the above and more - they don't splay nor shed even with continuous use.
A quick break down on all 12 brushes and what I personally use them for:
Zoeva 142 Concealer and Buffer Brush - A beautifully soft yet robust flat top brush that naturally fits into the eyes contours to blend out concealer or loose powder with ease. Think of this as a mini kabuki brush for the eyes.
Zoeva 224 Luxe Defined Crease Brush - One of my favourite Zoeva brushes of all time, a super soft fluffy brush that makes light work of buffing out even the harshest of lines. If you are a little heavy handed like myself and tend to over apply eyeshadow this is the brush you need, I find it helps to soften my eye make-up without turning into a muddy mess. It is also really gentle so it won't damage the delicate skin over time.
Zoeva 226 Smudger Brush - A small, flat and thin brush that can be used to apply eyeshadow precisily such as for a cut crease look or for applying gel/liquid or powder eyeshadows to the lash lines. This is a pretty dense brush so it works well for smudging out harsh lines particularly on the lower eyelash line. If you are a fan of a smoky eye look this is a brush you want in your kit.
Zoeva 227 Luxe Soft Definer Brush - A super soft eye shadow brush which smooths and defines your eye colour. The perfect tool for creating smooth transitions between eye shadows, 227 Luxe Soft Definer Brush is perfect for pressed powder and loose pigment eye shadows.
Zoeva 228 Luxe Crease Brush - Very similar to the above Zoeva 224 brush only this is larger in size.
I personally find this a little more tricky to work with but there is no denying that it buffs and blends eyeshadow wonderfully.
Zoeva 230 Luxe Pencil Brush - A small tapered bullet shaped brush aka a pencil brush, great for precision application and for applying eyeshadow to the lower lash line. Although soft this is not as soft as the other brushes within the collection and does have a tendency to pick up more product than needed.
Zoeva 231 Luxe Petit Crease Brush - This is similar to the 230 above only more tapered, not as dense and by far softer. I find this brush offers more flexibility as you can apply product to a targeted area with precision due to the shape of the brush head, as well as being able to use the same brush to blend out. I personally use this to apply highlighter to my brow bone.
Zoeba 234 Luxe Smoky Shader Brush - A medium sized, flat paddle brush that is soft yet picks up plenty of product. Best used to pack colour on to the eyelids or for base products i.e primer.
Zoeva 237 Detail Shader Brush - A small, dense flat brush which is a little dry in texture, I personally use this for brow powder but I believe it has been created to work eyeshadow into small areas such as the inner corner and lower lash line.
Zoeva 315 Fine Liner Brush - A super fine yet equally soft, angled eyeliner brush which is perfect for creating precise eye liner looks; this works well with liquid and gel products but not so much powder.
Zoeva 317 Wing Liner Brush - A broad, angled eyeliner brush which has been specifically created to make light work of creating a winged eyeliner look. I suck at cat eye liner full stop so I have been using this with my Illamasqua Brow Gel and have to say it is nothing short of wonderful. This is a fairly fine, dense and to a degree firm brush that may be a little harsh on the eye if I am entirely truthful - yet it is one of the best brow brushes I have ever used.
Zoeva 322 Brow Line Brush - A short, small and angled brush created for use with brow powder, as this is a duo fibre brush it helps to diffuse colour to prevent the brows from appearing to harsh or for lack of a better term "blocky". This brush makes it almost impossible to overdo your brows.
Like I said above a great, all round eye kit if you are just getting into make-up brushes or perhaps want to expand your collection. In all honesty if you purchased this other than a spoolie I wouldn't imagine you'd ever need any more eye brushes for a good few years!
