What's New On the High Street

Collectively us Brit's need to come together and coin a phrase that covers both Boots and Superdrug - yes they are technically chemists/pharmacies but it isn't nearly as catchy as "Drug Store". I know you hear my plight. Every now and then I take a trip into town and scour the make-up stands to see what is new and what I fancy trying out. It can end up pretty messy (hello, swatches) and expensive so I do try to make it less of a habit and more of a treat. Here is what I have found and of course purchased as of late...

What's New On the High Street

L'Oreal Infalliable 24H Mattifying Foundation £6.99 via Boots

Everyone and their dog has been telling me to try this out: a light weight, matte  yet full coverage foundation that doesn't cost the earth. Kudos to L'Oreal. Not only is the  L'Oreal Infalliable 24H Mattifying Foundation formula rather wonderful but the shade range is pretty impressive too. I have only began testing this out but so far I can happily state that it does live up to exceptions - it covers so well, is comfortable, offers decent oil control and wears excellently. L'Oreal foundations are so hard to beat, aren't they?

L'Oreal Infallible Mattifying Primer £7.99 via Superdrug

I have a weakness for primers and do tend to purchase just about every new one going, it is a real problem. If oily skin happens to be a problem for you then the new L'Oreal Infallible Mattifying Primer could be what you are looking for. A lightweight, non-greasy gel based primer that instantly mattifies the skin, leaving it looking and feeling soft without drying out the complexion. Sadly I don't find this offers much in terms of blurring imperfections but it does reduce oil dramatically. You can even apply it on top of make-up instead of blotting powder should you wish.

L'Oreal Brow Artist Plumper in Light/Medium £5.99 via Superdrug

I purchased this on a whim - a 3 for 2 offer no less, in the words of my Grandparents "That's how they get you!". Under the bright lights of the shop floor the L'Oreal Brow Artist Plumper appeared to be a light golden brown brow gel that promised to fill and shape the brows with ease. Sold! In reality it is a bright gold colour that looks ludicrous on my brows - there is nothing natural about it at all. If we ignore the shade I can vouch that the formulation isn't too shabby at all - it does fill the brows well, helps to create the illusion of fuller brows while slicking them down in place. The shade Light/Medium in my opinion is a total flop.

L'Oreal Le Blush £7.69 each via Boots

As you can most likely tell by now I did linger around the L'Oreal counter a little longer than most, at the moment I can truly say that they are my favourite high street brand. One of my favourite product lines from L'Oreal are their Le Blushes - pigmented, beautiful shades, long wearing and don't cost the earth. What is not to like? I am unsure if the three shades I bought are an expansion or limited edition, they could even be fairly old shades and my local Superdrug is just so behind? Anyway if you are on the look out for new Spring/Summer shades then I recommend checking out L'Oreal Le Blush in 105 Rose Pastel which is a light, blue based pink not worlds apart from MAC Pink Swoon Blush. If coral blushes are more your thing you need shade 103 Peach which could give Benefit Coralista a run for its money. Lastly I have shade 163 Nectarine which is a bright red based coral that would look wonderful on tanned to deep complexions.

Revlon Photoready Eye Brighter and Primer £9.99 via Superdrug

An eye brighter and primer in one? Consider me sold. The new Revlon Photoready Eye Brighter and Primer is nothing short of genius. A light, silky liquid that not only peps up the entire eye area but also helps hold make-up into place. You can use it on the eye lids to lock in eyeshadow, on the lower eye in place of concealer and/or highlighter - all with the convenience of a brush on formula. Easily one of my favourite recent finds.

Olay Anti-Wrinkle Firm and Lift 2-in-1 Primer £4.98 via Superdrug

Lastly I purchased Olay Anti-Wrinkle Firm and Lift 2-in-1 Primer, if I am entirely honest I didn't fully read the description in store. I saw 2-in-1 Primer and popped it into my basket without too much of a thought. The anti-ageing technology isn't really a current requirement for myself but I do like that this not only hydrates the skin, firms but primes in one quick step. Personally I would have liked it to contain an SPF but I guess you can't win them all and at less than £5 I can't complain!
