Dolce and Gabbana Dolce Matte Lipstick Collection

Matte lipstick lovers stop what you are doing and let me tell you all about the new Dolce and Gabbana Dolce Matte Lipstick Collection. With thirteen shades in total (six of which make it to the UK) I'm sure there is a shade for everyone. The six shades which have just hit the UK are all various tones of red, if ever there was an ideal time to find your perfect red it is now!

As you most likely would expect the packaging of the Dolce and Gabbana Dolce Matte Lipstick Collection is nothing short of chic - sleek, glossy black casings with gold accents and a magnetised lid. They don't just look luxurious but also feel pricey thanks to the additional extra touches such as the bevelled shape of the lipstick bullet - this allows for easy and precise application. To finish things off nicely each lipstick has been stamped with the brand's logo. This is one lipstick you will look forward to pulling out in commutes - doesn't that sound terribly vapid? Yet I know we all enjoy a little luxury now and then.

The six shades of the Dolce and Gabbana Dolce Matte Lipstick Collection that are currently exclusive to Harrods include:
605 Fire - This is a bright, orange based red that is not words apart from MAC So Chaud I would deem this to be quite a warm toned red and one that demands attention. My favourite of all 6 hues.
531 Heart - A slightly deeper, neutral and less orange toned version of Fire above.
624 Lover - In my opinion a mid toned bright red that has a slight blue undertone. If you are looking for a less intense version of MAC Ruby Woo lipstick then this is for you.
629 Passion - A true classic red, think Hollywood sirens of times past and you won't go far wrong. This has quite a blue undertone and is the least special in terms of overall shade.
643 Desire - I would deem this to be a Maroon rather than a true red, it is quite cool toned and the perfect blend of plum and red. Despite being quite a deep and intense shade it is surprisingly flattering and easy to wear. A nice change of pace from your standard red lipstick.
333 Inferno - Not really a red lipstick at all but perhaps best described as a reddened plum. Personally I would stash this aside for next A/W. A great statement shade.

The beauty of the Dolce and Gabbana Dolce Matte Lipsticks (shades aside of course) is the formula. My swatches may not fully show just how matte they are in person but they are on par in terms of finish with MAC Matte lipsticks yet no where near as drying. As a matter of fact they glide on to the lips which such ease: no dragging, no pulling and no clinging to any dry/chapped areas. The pigmentation is beautiful and really long lasting (around four hours per application) - yes they do fade a little throughout the day but evenly. They don't bleed, feather nor do they flake which is often a problem I encounter with matte formulations. If like myself you enjoy entirely matte lipsticks and wish for something creamy rather than drying, coupled with great pigment and a long lasting finish look no further. At £26.50 each admittedly the Dolce and Gabbana Dolce Matte Lipstick are not cheap but if one of the shades is your dream red then I recommend taking the plunge.
