Not so long ago NARS launched their Dual Intensity Eyeshadow Palette and I decided there and then that it simply had to mine. It has taken my quite some while to muster up the courage to apply the NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow Palette let alone swatch it with my stubby fingertips. I hate to say it but if you are a fan of the NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow's then you are going to want this palette.
The NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow Palette is as beautiful to look at as it is to apply, 8 full sized embossed pan of Dual Intensity Eyeshadow's, a chrome mirror effect outer complete with a wet/dry brush and of course a mirror. For an eyeshadow palette it is fairly average in size, small but not overly so and as it is plastic it should travel well. The brush is a small, paddle shaped glossy bristle brush that is best used for wet application of eyeshadow as it doesn't really pick up much product truth be told. It is a nice enough addition but not a brush that I would ever purchase solely nor will I reach for it often. For dry application I recommend using a natural fibre brush or your fingertips.
If like myself you found it difficult to select just one shade for within the NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow collection then this is the palette for you. Along with seven permanent shades there is a limited edition and exclusive to the palette hue which is Ursa Major - a deep metallic chocolate brown. The full shade line up is below but I will say that the shades have been well selected, compliment one and other as well as offering a good range of shades; be it pops of colour or muted neutrals. A true day to night palette if ever there was one.
Europa - Gossamer Pink Peach
Himalia - Shimmering Topaz
Ursa Major - Chocolate Glaze
Subra - Black Orchid
Andromeda - Alabaster
Lysithea - Shark Grey
Giove - Navy
Sycorax - Black
As you most likely know the NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows have been designed to be worn both wet and dry. When dry the effect is more subtle and sheer, when dampened the colour pay off is more intense. My advice is to dedicate one area of the eyeshadow for wet use as once wet the eyeshadow does change a little in formula - it becomes a little drier and forms a film of sorts, making it difficult to use dry. The eyeshadows also become a little mushy like when wet which oddly lends them well to becoming eye liners. The overall formula of the NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows is soft, creamy, a dream to apply and blend (both damp and dry). The pigmentation of NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow's can be a little hit and miss. The deeper shades are well pigmented both wet and dry, where as the lighter hues offer more colour punch when applied damp. In my opinion if you don't typically suffer from oily lids you can go ahead and skip primer as this eyeshadow formulation is not prone to colour fade nor creasing - in fact it is pretty flawless in my experience, I can not think of any application woes.
Yes £45 is a lot to cough up for one palette but it is fairly versatile and better value than purchasing a few of the NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows individually.

Great looking palette.I especially like the look of Europa and Himalia, though I might get those separately rather than splash out on the full palette!
