Pore minimising products are everywhere, normally in the form of primers or serums but very few are all in one bases. By that I mean a product that offers the skin coverage, evens out the skin tone and helps soften the look of both enlarged pores and fine lines. On days in which I have only errands to run, I do tend to reach for a BB or CC cream but will have to add powder and sometimes a primer which really defeats the purpose of a minimal make-up approach. That was until I tested Olay Total Effects Pore Minimizer CC Cream, to say this lightweight base does it all is an understatement.
Olay Total Effects Pore Minimizer CC Cream is a seven in one product: it moisturises, it protects the skin, it has an added SPF of 15, it evens out the skin tone, it blurs imperfections such as enlarged pores and fine lines, formulated to help prevent signs of ageing, tinted and can create a flawless finish "air brushed" effect on the skin. As with the majority of CC (and BB Creams) the coverage level Olay Total Effects Pore Minimizer CC Cream provides is best described as light to moderate but it is offers enough coverage to even out the complexion. Personally I find it works best with a flat top foundation brush to really buff into the skin for a truly even, flawless finish. A little goes a long way and it is effortless to apply even with the fingertips. You can use it as you would with a regular BB/CC cream (as a base product like a foundation) or as a primer should you wish.
Let's get to the nitty gritty - why I like this product. In a matter of minutes my skin is not only evened out due to the tinted nature of this product along with the added SPF should I be in a rush. Olay Total Effects Pore Minimizer CC Cream may not be the longest wearing product (approx four to five hours on my oily skin when worn solo) but it does help to control excess oil and visibly blurs my enlarged pores without the need for a primer and/or powder. Although this is a cream based product I do not find it to be overwhelming on my oily complexion rather I find that it is comforting and suitable even when my skin happens to be dehydrated. I don't find that it clings to dry areas but I will be honest in stating that I am not prone to dry patches.
As you can see Olay Total Effects Pore Minimizer CC Cream is tinted, I have the shade medium to deep which is a light tan shade. It does state on the packaging if the formula is adaptable to the skin tone and I would agree. Personally I find that due to the light coverage the shade in general is forgiving i.e no harsh tide lines etc. I would state medium/deep isn't at all "deep" and best suited to medium skin tones, especially those with a yellow undertone. To the best of my knowledge there is only two shades within the Olay Total Effects Pore Minimizer CC Cream range and neither are all that universal. It is a great all round base but the lack of shade options really does let this product down. If one of the shades suits your skin tone you are on to a winner as the Olay Total Effects Pore Minimizer CC Cream really does it all.

I think this might be the miracle product i need! http://jennifercooper99.blogspot.co.uk
ReplyDeleteIt's odd to me because the Bourjois CC cream broke me out the first time I wear it, so I'm quite cautious when it comes to if I should give CC creams another try?

I loved Bourjois CC Cream last summer and wore it all the time. I like light bases for my normal days at work or just running errands so I will definitely check this one from Olay out. It sounds lovely! x

This looks good, I'm looking for something just like this to use in the warmer months this year - definitely not time for that just yet ;-).

Great review. I really think this would be good for me, though I remain wary due to the limited number of shades available. Now it's a case of deciding between this and Bourjois CC Cream which I know is brilliant too. Hmmm...
