MAC Lightness of Being Collection

I was kindly sent a few pieces of the MAC Lightness of Being Collection to test out which is MAC's first main collection of 2015. If you like barely there washes of colour and pretty, icy toned pastels this line up will be just up your alley. I should mention that aside from the brushes and nail polish this is a completely Mineralize collective - meaning each item is either baked or infused with minerals, in my experience it is a formulation you will either love or loathe.

MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow in Uninhibited £17
I want to begin by stating I am not a fan of the new MAC Mineralize style packaging, I think it looks cheap, bulky and almost counterfeit. If you have ever Googled MAC on the likes of eBay and seen some of the shoddy copy cat attempts at MAC palettes you will most likely understand what I mean. Packaging aside this is a beautiful colour - a deep, shimmering, gun metal grey which applies sheer (this is the intention and not a fault) but can be layered on for a more dramatic finish or even applied damp for full pigmentation. I see MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow in Uninhibited as a fairly universal shade and the perfect addition to a smoky eye be it daring or barely there. I do have to state that the texture of this particular eyeshadow was not the easiest to work with, dry and very firm yet once applied to the skin it does blend with ease. Most confusing to say the least. On average with a primer and my oily eye lids I can achieve around 7 hours of true wear from MAC Mineralize Eyeshadows before they begin to fade and/or crease.

MAC Mineralize Lip Glass in Boundless Energy £19
From the get go I knew that the MAC Lightness of Being collection was aimed at providing subtle, fresh hints of colour so I knew not to expect too much in terms of pigment - especially from the lip glasses. The truth is I am not a lip gloss/glass fan in the slightest, I dislike the sticky and thick texture which is exactly how I'd categorise MAC Mineralize Lip Glass in Boundless Energy. That is no way a negative, if you purchase a lip gloss my guess is that is what you expect? In defence of MAC Mineralize Lip Glass in Boundless Energy it is very hydrating on the lips and does seem to hold up well against eating and drinking. As mention above the tint is very subtle - in the tube MAC Mineralize Lip Glass in Boundless Energy appears to be a light mauve based pink yet on the lips it is transparent. The good news is that you can layer it over just about any lipstick safe in the knowledge it won't interfere with the overall colour.
