Clarins Instant Light Lips Comfort Oil in Honey Review

Clarins Instant Light Lips Comfort Oil in Honey

As a serial lip biter and picker (what a pretty picture I am painting), any lip product that promises both comfort and hydration will instantly pique my attention. The newly launched Clarins Instant Light Lips Comfort Oils are one of the very first lip products that combines the technology of skin care (in this case plant active ingredients) with make-up. Imagine all the moisture of a skin nourishing oil with the convenience of a slick on lip gloss like product and you have the Clarins Instant Light Lips Comfort Oils.

"An innovative formula. A unique fusion formula rich in plant-based active ingredients and directly inspired by Clarins' expert face and body oils."

When I first saw the Clarins Instant Light Lips Comfort Oils I assumed that they would be sticky, glorified lip glosses. That is not at all the case, I won't pretend for one moment that you can not detect the oil on the lips but it feels more like a lip balm than an oil or gloss. It is not sticky, heavy nor greasy but fairly light weight and super hydrating. If like myself you have dry lips this glides over the rough surface (partly due to the sizeable doe foot applicator) instantly soothing and softening as it goes. Yes the Clarins Instant Light Lips Comfort Oils come in two shades: Honey and Raspberry (the latter being an online exclusive) but as they are so sheer it really doesn't matter which shade you choose. On my lips Honey does not deposit any hint of colour rather it provides a glossy, transparent finish. Perhaps if you plan to layer these over other lip products a little more thought in terms of shade choice will be require - if you wear nude/light lip colours frequently I'd go for Honey and Raspberry if you are a fan of pink and red lip products.

So yes make-up meets skin care? As many will know and agree Clarins facial oils are pretty much unbeatable and a staple for many - myself included. Using similar technology Clarins have applied their skin care know how to lip products. The new Clarins Instant Light Lips Comfort Oil contain a whole body of natural oils to ensure that your lips are well cared for. The blend includes: Hazelnut oil to nourishes, plumps and softens the lips, Organic jojoba oil again to nourishes and add a hydrating silky sheen to the surface of the lips without feeling greasy. It has also been included to soothe the lips making it perfect for chapped, Winter beaten skin. The honey shade also includes Mirabelle oil which is renowned for helping prevent dehydration, where as the Raspberry shade contains Raspberry oil (of course) to protects the lips from premature ageing.

When you think about it, most of us turn to skin oils when our complexions are dried out and in need of instant repair. Why should our lips be any different? Unlike traditional lip balms not only does this moisturise the lips but the wear time is far extended (a good three hours per application on average), not to mention the natural oils provide a barrier against the elements.
