Today Clarins latest collection - Clarins Garden Escape touched down both online and on counters across the UK. As with all Clarins collections it is nothing short of beautiful, full of pretty yet wearable pastel shades complete with a completely new lip product addition too. I was kindly sent a few of the new products from the Clarins Garden Escape to put to the test...
Swatches are with and without flash, the lack of daylight at the moment is killing my photos!
Clarins Garden Escape Eyeshadow Palette £32
Everything about this palette is beyond pretty - from the engraved golden casing which is more than robust to the embossed, petal printed pastel eyeshaows. Within the Clarins Garden Escape Eyeshadow Palette there is six shades ranging from muted neutrals to subtle pops of colour, all of which are perfect for the upcoming Spring. The shades are not individually names but inside you will find a light, purple tinged mauve, two baby pink eyeshadows (one slightly more candy toned than the other), a khaki green, a deep forest green and lastly a bright true white. All six shades are satin in formula meaning they do have a slightly metallic finish but no real traces of glitter. They are easy to blend and apply, well pigmented and have a somewhat dry texture that lends itself well to damp application should you want a more pigmented finish or to turn the shades into eyeliners. I do have to warn that each shadow is a little prone to product fall out but as that is the only real issue I would we are on to a winner, Not many Spring palettes are so suit all both in terms of complexion and application.
Clarins Crayon Khol in Intense Green £17
I am no stranger to Clarins Crayon Khol pencil eyeliners, a creamy multi-purpose product that is gentle yet rather effective. At one end of the pencil you have a soft, creamy, easy to blend yet super pigmented pencil that can be used as a traditional eyeliner or as an all over eyeshadow/base. On the other end of the khol there is a soft, natural bristle brush that can be used to pack the product on or blend out harsh lines. The beauty of this particular eyeliner is the creamy texture, it glides on to the skin with ease - no tugging or pulling and yet when it sets it does not budge. I should also mention that my eyes tend to water for no real reason and this is one of the few eyeliners that wears well on my waterline - for around four or so hours. I was kindly sent the shade Intense Green which is a rather complex tone - it isn't really green nor is it blue, a deep turquoise is perhaps the best description? It offers all the drama of a black eyeliner yet is a softer approach, great for day wear or a little pop of colour.
Clarins Joli Rouge Lipstick in 23 Rose Petal £19
Clarins Joli Rouge Lipsticks are the perfect blend of pigment, moisture and sheen all encased and neatly presented within one sleek, sophisticated silver case. The formula is light yet has a decent amount of pigmentation and doesn't need to be caked on to provide full coverage, yet retains a light lip balm feel. It is not lacking in terms of hydration which is due to the inclusion of mango butter - perfect for Winter beaten lips. In terms of wear I find the Joli Rouge formula to last around three hours before fading, the one fault I do find with this particular lipstick is that it tends to gather and settle around my outer lips giving a slight liner effect but this is only the case with the deeper shades. The newest hue to join the Clarins Joli Rouge Lipstick line up is 23 Rose Petal - a light yet bright almost candy pink. Typically I find this type of shade difficult to pull off as they tend to be fairly stark, the good news is as this lipstick is fairly sheer (yet buildable) it is easier to wear as it works with your natural lip tone rather than masking it. I should mention that Clarins Rose Petal is a slightly metallic shade with a little glitter within the formula, when applying it can feel a little gritty - the same applies if you rub your lips together. On the flip side said particles give the impression of fuller lips as does the glossy, hydrating finish.

I always tend to overlook Clarins when buying makeup and see them as much more of a skin care brand. I really need to start taking more notice of their makeup more though as these products all look fab, especially that gorgeous palette! :) x
