Hydraluron Moisture Jelly

So you've tried the original Hydraluron and are on the look out for something similar but more suited to day use? Enter Hydraluron Moisture Jelly which is the little sister product of Hydraluron - this is not a treatment product nor a serum but rather a light and intensive daily moisturiser. With the colder months on the way this could be the very product your skin care routine is calling out for.

Hydraluron Moisture Jelly

The packaging is rather cool, a small pump tube in which the product comes out the top. One pump equates enough product for one full application (a little goes a long way) but sometimes I do live on the edge and apply two...what a wild card! As you can see the packaging is transparent so you can see with ease when you are running low, which is always helpful.

Hydraluron Moisture Jelly

As many will know the aim of both the Hydraluron products is hydration and the key ingredient is of course Hyaluronic Acid . This acid can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water. In essence Hyaluronic Acid can help your skin retain moisture and in turn you get more from your product. Unlike the original Hydraluron this is a stand alone product meaning you do not team it up with another moisturiser to see optimum results. Oddly for such a hydrating treat this is super light weight in texture, it cools and absorbs instantly leaving the skin feeling refreshed and plump from the first application. As most will use Hydraluron Moisture Jelly as a day care product (you can of course use it at night in conjunction with the original Hydraluron for a intensive moisturising treat), you will be pleased to learn that this not only quickly absorbs into the skin, leaving behind no residue but also does not interfere with any make-up applied on top.

Admitedly I can not use Hydraluron Moisture Jelly daily as my skin is really oily, not dehydrated but straight up oily. I do go through phases of dehydration normally due to medication for allergic reactions (don't ask I belong in a bubble) and when this happens I do use Hydraluron Moisture Jelly. I like that it quickly rehydrates my skin and does so quickly (from the first use). The only downside is that if you do stop using it your skin will go back to normal (or dry if that is the case) but as most users become hooked from the first use I don't imagine this to be too much of a problem. If you have normal to dry skin and want a great daily intensive moisturiser that is gentle at the same time, this could be the answer.

Aerin Iris Meadow Eau de Parfum

In a matter of days Aerin will launch two new parfums: Iris Meadow and Waterlily Sun. Admitedly I do think both fragrances would be better suited to a Spring launch, I have been lucky enough to try out both and have to say that they are rather original and worthy of a splurge.

Aerin Iris Meadow is the lighter of the two and the official blurb reads as follows - "Like walking through an open field wild with flowers, Iris Meadow beckons with crisp green notes infused with lush florals and deepened by warm, energizing woods. Effervescent Mandarin and vibrant Blackcurrant blend with fresh florals. Iris, emboldened by Egyptian Jasmine, balances the scent with vibrant depth while Cedarwood melts into creamy, woody musks."This is the fragrance I have been trailing out of the duo and would personally describe it as smelling like clean, fresh air dried laundry with a hint of citrus. Perhaps not the best description in the world but if you like clean uplifting fragrances that are light and easy to wear I would highly recommend this. I can not think of any other fragrance out there that smells remotely like this.

Aerin Waterlily Sun is slightly stronger and more floral in my opinion, the official description is - "Like sunlight reflecting on water, bright Sicilian Bergamot and Lush Dewy Greens entice the senses for an invigorating, luminous first impression. Delicate, yet alluring Waterlily and softly exotic Jasmine Sambac add layers of depth and intensity, warmed by sweetly inviting Musk. The effect is bright, dewy and fresh." If you like delicate but long lasting floral scents I would recommend trying this out. In my opinion a lot of florals smell rather samey but this is one of the few out there at the moment that doesn't instantly remind me of anything else.

Aerin Iris Meadow and Aerin Waterlily Sun Eau de Parfum's will cost £85/50ml when they launch in October.

YSL Tuxedo Palette

If you are going to be flying in December and passing through Duty Free keep an eye out for a new and exclusive palette from YSL - YSL Tuxedo Palette. A classic black zip case which features not only eyeshadow, lipstick and blush but also a highlighter and mini YSL Shocking Mascara. Basically the YSL Tuxedo Palette has all you need to create a smoky evening look in one place!

YSL Tuxedo Palette
YSL Tuxedo Palette

I've pretty much summed the packaging above, I have tried with all my might to remove the make-up tray in order for the black case to be reusable but so far I have not figured out how to do so. Perhaps I am just a weakling (I say perhaps when I know it to be a fact) but at the moment I can't seem to remove the make-up palette without chipping any of the powder products. If you have more might than I, I do think the YSL Tuxedo Palette casing would make a cute clutch bag of sorts.

YSL Tuxedo Palette
YSL Tuxedo Palette

A quick run down of what is inside the YSL Tuxedo palette: a matte mid toned pink blush, an oyster pink glitter highlighter, three lipglosses and one lipstick (a neutral mid tone pink, a bright blue toned pink, a classic red and an oyster pink gloss which is intended to be layered over other shades), 5 eyeshadows (a deep shimmering glitter based emerald, a glitter based navy, a stark white, a matte black and oddly a candy metallic pin) as well as a mini tube of YSL Shocking mascara and of course a small blush brush and a foam applicator. Like I said above pretty much all you need for a smouldering look minus an eyeliner!

YSL Tuxedo Palette

YSL Tuxedo Palette

The eyeshadows are what I have come to expect from YSL - well pigmented, silky soft and an utter dream to apply. As this is a December launch it is not really all that surprising that YSL have included not only jewel tones but glitter based shadows - the glitter is not at all gritty and looks pretty refined on the eyes. To vamp things up we also have a matte black eyeshadow and a bright metallic white shadow to highlight. I have to be utterly honest in saying I have no idea what to do with the pink eyeshadow. The matte pink blush within the palette is pretty universal and should suit most complexions, I have to be utterly honest in saying that I don't really care much for the highlighter. It has a bizarre, dry texture that I found difficult to blend out and the fact that it is really glittery didn't bode well with my enlarged pores. Apparently one of the three lip products is a lipstick and the other three are glosses - I couldn't say with 100% certainty which is which as they all have a fairly sticky and glossy texture. On the lips they do feel like a gloss but have more pigment that the majority of glossy lip products out there. Wear time is fairly typical at around two hours at the very most per application. Lastly we have the YSL Shocking Mascara which is a blacker then black formula which my flimsy eyelashes find a little heavy but if you have decent eyelashes to begin with this will give the effect of false eyelashes without having the tendency of clumping.

All in all a great little smoky palette which would make a great Christmas gift.
Apologies that I do not price of this palette - I will update as soon as I find out!

DKNY Women Sparkling Fall Eau de Toilette

Next month exclusively at Superdrug DKNY will launch their newest and of curse limited edition fragrance for the Autumn months - DKNY Women Sparkling Fall Eau.

If you happen to like DKNY My NY then I have a sneaky feeling that this will be right up your street as they both share the patchouli note. They are in no way identical but similar enough that I feel if you are a fan of one then the other fragrance should appeal to you. DKNY Women Sparkling Fall consists of top notes of grapefruit, infused with accents of blackcurrant and plum, heart notes of roses, olibanum and pink pepper, while tonka beans, benzoin and patchouli oil form the base. It is warm, floral and slightly spicy. Basically all I want from an Autumnal launch.

DKNY Women Sparkling Fall Eau de Toilette is one of the brand's largest launches in terms of volume as it is a whopping 100ml and will cost £41 which is pretty great value all things considered. The large bottle draws inspiration from the New York sky line and the sequin presentation box makes it the perfect choice for the festive season.

DKNY Women Sparkling Fall Eau de Toilette will launch this coming October and will cost £41/100ml.

Dove Oxygen Moisture Hair Care Collection

I'm currently going through a hair care phases in which I want to try all the new shampoo and conditioners. I say phase, really I have always been this way inclined. The only product in terms of hair care that I am truly loyal to is Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner. I feel if I stick with the same shampoo and conditioner for too long my hair becomes lank, flat and generally weighed down. You know the saying a change is as good as a holiday and that is how I view hair care. New in my shower is the Dove Oxygen Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner duo which I fully recommend if your hair is easily weighed down.

The Dove Oxygen Moisture has been created with fine, flat hair in mind - I do have thick hair that is now waist long (I have no idea how that happened but it has) but due to the over all weight of my hair it is forever flat. The Dove Oxygen Moisture mantra is that you don't have to choose between moisture or volume - perfect as the ends of my hair are approaching three years old so I'll take any moisture I can get! The general idea is that both the shampoo and conditioner have been infused with oxygen so that the hair is nourished deeply yet the formula is utterly lightweight which I do have to agree with.

Both products somewhat melt on to the hair - the shampoo lathers up beautifully leaving the hair feeling cleanses from root to tip without being drying or harsh, not to mention it smells beautiful. The conditioner is surprisingly hydrating and more than conditions my bleached and dried out locks which I was pretty shocked by. A little goes a long way, my hair was easy to de-tangle and style after washing and even more oddly my hair felt fresher for longer. The volume aspect I sadly can't vouch for but I really do feel like the weight of my hair is to blame, unless I cut off a good few inches my guess is that the problem will persist. If you have fine hair I have no doubt you will achieve more volume than I did. If you are on the look out for a great lightweight shampoo and conditioner that will deeply cleanse and nourish the hair will being weightless and free from product build up I thoroughly recommend the Dove Oxygen Moisture range.

Weekly Favourites #53

A quick collective of all the things I have been enjoying for the last week or so...

I have dusted off my By Terry Hyluronic Hydra-Powder and put it firmly to use. Oddly some days my skin loves this and others I feel like it just sits on top of the surface of my skin regardless of how well I buff it in. At the moment it is all I am using to set my make-up but full well know that sooner rather than later I will have to tuck this back into my stash. As much as I am currently enjoying this powder I can't say I would repurchase in a hurry.

Benefit Dallas Blusher has been my go to blush all week - I adore that it nestles somewhere in-between a blush and bronzer and how it pretty much looks great on everyone. The dusky pink bronze of Dallas is a great Autumn shade and the overall effect is a healthy flush of colour. Try it, you'll be surprised how quickly it becomes your new favourite Benefit blush! I am also this close to purchasing the Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot blush palette and yet I own 5 out of the 6 shades within it. What the heck is wrong with me (please don't answer that)...palettes really are my weakness.

Weekly Favourites #53

I'm not a Kardashian fan by any means but do have to give a shout out to the Kardashian Beauty Au Naturel In the Flesh Lip Kit. A pinky nude duo that is eerily similar to MAC Angel Lipstick (unsurprising as Kim K has openly said MAC Angel is her go to MAC lipstick) yet a little creamier and easier to apply. It also comes in handy to have a lip liner in the exact shade of the lipstick. My other lip staple has been Lanolips 101 Ointment in Strawberry again. I keep this in my bag and reapply several times a day. I do wish the balm wasn't so thick as it is pretty difficult to apply over or under lipstick but there is no denying that it does keep my lips smooth!

Weekly Favourites #53

A week today I jet off to Florida so I have been busting out my Bath and Body Works Hand Sanitizers like they are going out of fashion. Why? Because I want to stock up on the Autumn fragrances when over there. That aside I do like how small and dinky the Bath and Body Works hand gels are - they also don't dry my hands out as much as other brands. Speaking of my hands, Chanel Secret Nail Colour has been on my nails all week long. This is a great neutral peach shade that gives a natural polished look and is one of the better formulas as far as Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colours go!

Weekly Favourites #53

Lastly I can't have a favourites post without declaring my love for YSL Black Opium Eau de Parfume, this is beyond description - slightly chocolate based, warm and 100% divine. You must try this out at the counter as I have yet to meet a person who doesn't rate this scent! It was love from the first spray and I loathe the original YSL Opium Eau de Parfume.

What have you been enjoying lately?

Tresemme Renewal Hair and Scalp Tonic

If the coming weeks you read a post about me suddenly dying my hair brown don't be at all surprised. Today I woke up and decided I don't really know how I feel about being blonde and kinda (I'm not entirely certain) want long, flowing brunette tresses. Oddly it is not the upkeep of being blonde that is swaying me but rather the fact my scalp hates bleach and takes months to recover. Itchy, red and wait for it...scabby scalps really aren't all that attractive. On the plus side my scalp problems have opened me up to a new world of products such as Tresemme Renewal Hair and Scalp Tonic.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows that to have good hair you do need to keep your scalp healthy which in my mind is easier said than done. I mean other than shampoo or perhaps a little coconut oil really what can you do? Enter Tresemme Renewal Hair and Scalp Tonic which is not only a soothing treatment but with continued use it can help promote hair growth. Basically using the fine tipped nozzle you apply Tresemme Renewal Hair and Scalp Tonic directly to the scalp and massage in when the hair is damp and style as usual. As some one with a dried out and often itchy scalp I can not begin to tell you how wonderful this feels when being applied - it is cooling, soothing and really does stop me from clawing away at my head. I find that although the initial relief is instant, with continued use my scalp has been less dry and generally irritated which is a bonus.

Tresemme Renewal Hair and Scalp Tonic contains Tea Tree Extract as well as Sunflower Oil to rebalance and nourish on a cellular level- I believe this is also what helps boost hair growth. Personally I can not comment that aspect as I do take Biotin to speed up the renewal rate. Like most I am a little wary of applying anything directly to my scalp on the off chance it will leave my hair greasy or crispy for that matter. I can vouch that this is such a lightweight treatment that once the cooling effect has worn off you can not feel it in your hair or on your scalp at all. If like myself you tend to let your hair dry naturally this will not affect the overall result nor will it in case result in product build up.

If you are prone to placing chemicals of any type on your scalp every now and then or simply feel your poor head could do with a little treat I would highly recommend giving Tresemme Renewal Hair and Scalp Tonic a whirl. I am on to my second bottle now and do think it has really helped with the overall condition of my scalp. Hair growth? Debatable.

The Daily Beauty Report (26.09.14)

Avéne is one of my favourite skin care brands so I am really excited about this relaunch "Skincare brand Eau Thermale Avéne has announced the relaunch of their YsthéAL range. Products have been reformulated so they are three times more effective at improving skin elasticity and minimising the signs of ageing, significantly reducing wrinkle depth and length. The range is formulated with retinaldehyde, a dermo-cosmetic active ingredient derived from the vitamin A family to deliver anti-ageing benefits. Products include the Eau Thermale Avène YsthéAL Anti-Wrinkle Emulsion and Eau Thermale Avène YsthéAL Eye and Lip Contour Care. The formulations are housed in a bottle with patented air-less pump technology 6 to prevent oxidation, allowing them to remain free from parabens, alcohol, fragrance and silicone." This is set to launch in October.

Another October launch "Michael Kors has announced the launch of its newest limited-edition fragrance, Michael Kors White Eau de Parfum. The fragrance comprises top notes of freesia and ylang, dewy green and violet leaves and a hint of aldehyde. Heart notes combine jasmine Egypte, gardenia Brazil, and white peony, while white musk, tonka bean, vanilla, amber and cedarwood are at the base." You can read my full review here - link.

It certainly is the day for new October fragrances! "DKNY Fragrances has announced the launch of new DKNY Women Sparkling Fall Eau de Toilette. The fragrance comprises top notes of grapefruit, infused with accents of blackcurrant and plum, heart notes of roses, olibanum and pink pepper, while tonka beans, benzoin and patchouli oil form the base."

A whole new skin care line up from Superdrug! "Superdrug has announced the launch of Clearly Youthful, a new skincare collection that is scientifically formulated to target the needs of both ageing and problem skin. The new range offers a complete regime of products with both anti-blemish and youth-boosting properties. Products include day and night serums, daily moisturiser, peel off glycolic mask, an AHA exfoliating cream cleanser, a triple action cleanser, mask and scrub and an effective blemish gel. All products are dermatologically approved, non pore blocking and are antibacterial, as well as being suitable for use by vegetarians and vegans." This will launch in October.

One last fragrance launch for the day and this will hit the counters by the end of the month! "Dolce & Gabbana has introduced The One Collector's Edition, comprising The One and The One for Men fragrances. Each flacon features the imprint of a gold coin, a strong motif in Dolce&Gabbana’s fashion collection for 2014. The One is a rich oriental floral fragrance, which contains notes of bergamot and mandarin, combined with lychee and peach, as well as notes of vanilla, amber and musk; while The One for Men is an oriental spicy fragrance which combines grapefruit, coriander and basil with cardamom, ginger, tobacco and amber, along with cedarwood." £62 (women's) & £64 (men's).

Personally I can't quite wrap my head around the idea but to each their own "Skincare brand Dr Organic has announced the launch of its Organic Snail Gel collection, due to the popular demand for the original Snail Gel product. The new range contains a host of anti-ageing benefits and exclusively harnesses helix aspersa muller, the ingredient snails use to quickly regenerate its own shell and skin when damaged. Blended with a number of bio-active, natural and organic extracts, the range aims to leave skin feeling hydrated, smoother and firmer with a more youthful glow. Products launching include: Snail Gel Cream, an absorbing face cream that blending snail secretion filtrate with aloe vera leaf juice, shea butter, cocoa butter and argan kernel oil to soothe, revitalise and restore natural moisture levels; Snail Gel Eye Serum, to help hydrate, smooth and protect the skin while improving the skin's renewal and elasticity;Snail Gel Facial Serum, clinically proven to improve skin hydration by 32% after four weeks; Snail Gel Hand & Nail Elixir, a rich hand and nail cream that instantly soothes and moisturises the skin; and Snail Gel Moisture Mask, individual sachets of product to penetrate deep into the pores of the epidermis, removing excess oil and impurities, while helping stimulate cell generation." This is a 6th of October launch.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Products include the Eau Thermale Avène YsthéAL Anti-Wrinkle Emulsion and Eau Thermale Avène YsthéAL Eye and Lip Contour Care. the Balm Nude Dude Eyeshadow Palette

Over in the US a new the Balm palette has launched - the Balm Nude Dude Eyeshadow Palette which is of course a follow up to the original the Balm Nude 'Tude palette. At a quick glance the Balm Nude Dude Eyeshadow Palette looks to warmer in tone overall and a little deeper over all. I imagine that once it fully launches it will quickly become a staple for many. I know neutral palettes are two a penny at the moment but it doesn't at all dampen my desire to own this one too!

The shade line up is as follows: Fearless, Flawless, Firm, Flirty, Friendly, Fierce, Fabulous, Faithful, Fit, Feisty, Funny and Fine. As you can see all the eyeshadow names begin with an "F" and the original featured all "S" shadows. Pretty cool huh?

I have no idea when this will launch in the UK but I imagine it will be sooner rather than later. At the moment it is exclusive to the American department store Khols and comes with a full sized the Balm Body Builder mascara for $39 - link.

What do you think?
One nude palette too many or are you a huge neutral eyeshadow fan?

New Barry M Eyeshadow Palettes A/W 2014

Newly launched is three new face and eye palettes from Barry M two of which are limited edition and one that is entirely exclusive to Superdrug. Oh and if you love neutrals you will be pleased to know that Barry M now have a second Natural Glow palette as well as two Autumn ready offerings...

New Barry M Eyeshadow Palettes A/W 2014
New Barry M Eyeshadow Palettes A/W 2014

As with all Barry M palettes the the three new launches come presented within cardboard casings. Some may say that this is not the most robust but truthfully I own all of previous Barry M palettes and have yet to experience any problems. My younger sister even carts one around in her swim bag (don't ask me why) and despite coming in contact with a soggy towel or two there has been next to no damage. Each palette comes with a mirror and two foam applicators. My only complaint with two of the new Barry M palettes is that they feature both cream and powder products - basically expect eyeshadow fall out in your cream product sooner rather than later.

Barry M Natural Glow Shadow and Primer Palette 2 £6.49 via ASOS (ships worldwide) - link
This palette features three matte shades and three shimmer based eyeshadows along with a yellow toned tan eyeshadow primer. The vast majority of the eyeshadows are cool toned, from left to right we have: a matte yellow based cream, a cool toned matte light grey, a warm cool toned light mauve, a light golden tan shimmer shade, a deep yet cool toned copper based mauve and a deep metallic purple tinged pewter. All of the shades are well pigmented but a little soft resulting in product fall out. As some one with oily skin the enclosed primer was next to no use, as the balm like texture is too silken for my skin texture. If you have a drier skin type then I think the primer could be just what you are looking for. I like that the yellow tone of the primer will even out the skin tone to a certain degree. On a more positive note the shades blend well, have a silky soft texture and with my regular primer wear for close to 7 hours before they begin to crease.

Barry M Super Chic Shadow and Primer Palette £6.49 Exclusive to Superdrug - link
My thoughts on the primer are exactly as above only this version is not tinted. Inside this palette you will find six very autumnal shades all of which are either shimmer or glitter based. From left to right we have: an off white hue that features thick glitter chunks, next a bright but beautiful turquoise green. There is also a blue tinged metallic grey, a shimmer based lemon shade and also a warm and red tinged copper finished off with a rich plum shadow. A very pretty selection of shades all of which are beautifully pigmented and a breeze to apply.

Barry M Starry Eyed Blush and Eyeshadow Palette £6.49 (limited edition) - link
I have saved my last palette until last - gone is the primer and in it's place a beautiful warm almost orange coral blush. The blush in the Barry M Starry Eyed Palette is not worlds apart in tone or finish to NARS Taj Mahal Blush - only much cheaper. The eyeshadows in this palette are rich in tone and simply beautiful. From left to right: a light yellow based tan matte eyeshadow (a great transitional shade), a rich metallic navy blue, a warm reddish matte brown, a cool toned golden brown, a deep chocolate matte brown and lastly a red based brown which could give MAC Cranberry a run for its money. All in all the pigmentation of the eyeshadows are good to excellent and well worth £6.49.

French Week at Lidl

Hands up who is a little obsessed (okay a lot) with the Great British Bake Off? Yup me too! It has actually inspired me to bake a little more and frankly indulge my sweet tooth that little more. I would deem myself to be a cake person but I do have a fondness for French patisserie offerings too. The fresher the better.

French Week at Lidl

My local supermarket happen's to be a Lidl and this week they are celebrating French Week with a whole range of French products which have been sourced where possible from France. It is as close to eating in Paris without shelling out for flights and lets face it, eating with French delicacies in the comfort of your own home with good company is far more appealing than travelling.

What I love about Lidl is that most stores have an in-store bakery which frankly smells delicious, with the sweet aroma of hot croissants and various French breads baking in store. If that doesn't make you feel hungry nothing will!

French Week at Lidl

To tie in with French Week I roped my sister into baking a few sweet treats using Lidl's Gateaux cake mixes (nothing like having a trainee Chef to help out is there?). We tweaked the Gateux mixes to turn them into brownies and cupcakes rather than large cakes which really only involved swapping cake tins for cupcake cases and a brownie pan! At £1.49 a mix it does make a great rainy day treat and activity - I call it emergency cake. Every home needs cake!

French Week at Lidl

If you want to experience the authentic taste of France I recommend hot footing it to Lidl and trying some of the below products which are limited edition and in-store now: Assorted traditional French tarts, frozen macarons, speciality salami with walnuts, assorted French desserts, mousse au chocolat lait, creme caramel, wheel of brie, blue cheese, puff pastry parcels, croque monsieur, ham/cheese croissant, cake baking mixes, Cidre de Normandie Brut (4.5%), Fine Calvados (40%), Creme de casis (15%), Pastis (40%), lady finger biscuits, madelaines, 7 days mini croissants, frozen baguette, frozen viabatta, sweet rolls with creme fraiche.

Tigi Headshot Reconstructive Shampoo and Conditioner

Anyone who regularly bleaches or colours their hair will agree that it sure does take its toll on its overall condition. A little like skin care I do feel you do have to put the effort into sourcing the best products for your needs. Dried up hair like mine needs lots of moisture and if possible a formula that will reconstruct. Enter Tigi Headshot Reconstructive Shampoo and Conditioner...

Tigi Headshot Shampoo and Conditioner have both been created to targets the areas in most need of repair meaning that your hair is never overwhelmed or left feeling greasy. I know a lot of people are put off the idea of moisturising shampoo's as the concept of putting any kind of moisture on the roots is baffling. Trust me if you have dried out hair and/or scalp this is the best option as it will help rid you of a dry, itchy scalp and replenish the hair so it can continue to grow. If your hair is damaged at the root imagine what it will be like in a few months or even years time...yikes! No pun intended but it is best to solve get to the root of the problem. The Tigi Headshot Shampoo and Conditioner duo have been formulated with complex of ginseng extracts, wheat protein and amino acids, helps to reduce breakage, split ends - progressively repairing wash after wash.

Admittedly the scent of both the Tigi Headshot Reconstructive Shampoo and Conditioner is a little lemony and artificial (think washing up liquid) but I'd be lying if I didn't say I enjoy using it. The shampoo thoroughly cleanses my hair without leaving it dried out, the conditioner is deeply nourishing yet doesn't weigh my hair down. My dried out locks do have a habit of absorbing a little too much of the conditioner so one bottle doesn't last nearly as long as I'd like (isn't that always the case?). The shampoo on the other hand does last forever and a day and is well worth the investment if you have damaged hair.

Benefit They're Real Push-Up Liner Dupe

I have been told that the Maybelline Lasting Drama Black Shock Gel Liner was actually on the make-up stands before the Benefit They're Real Push-Up Liner. I truly can not say if this is the case or not and will say that I discovered the Maybelline Lasting Drama Black Shock Gel Liner a good month or so after I tried out the Benefit version. I guess that is irrelevant as both are available now and eerily similar...

Benefit They're Real Push-Up Liner Dupe

Benefit They're Real Push-Up Liner Dupe

The packaging is very samey - two black pen style liners which feature a twist off cap, a slanted nozzle (both of which come with little plugs) and twist up mechanisms at the bottom. Both are fairly weighty which does help with application. Oddly they are identical in height, the main difference seems to be the applicator nozzle which is a slanted silicone tip. The Maybelline version features an almost tear drop shaped which is softer in shape compared to the sharp angle of the Benefit They're Real Push-Up Liner.

The idea behind both products is that the silicone tip helps create crisp lines each and every time as well as hugging the lash line making application a breeze. I agree to some degree but will admit that it does take a little trial and error to get the swing of either liner. Both formulas are super black (the Maybelline version is the blackest though) which may be a little harsh for some complexions/tastes. As both products are gel based so I am afraid that you do have to work fairly quickly when it comes to application as they both have a habit of drying out and crumbling mid application (this is typical of the vast majority of gel liners in my opinion). On the lids both gel liners look identical the only real difference boils down to the fact that you can create crisper/finer lines with the Benefit They're Real Push-Up Liner opposed to the Maybelline Lasting Drama Black Shock Gel Liner. However the Maybelline Lasting Drama Black Shock Gel Liner is longer wearing and less prone to flaking during wear not to mention it costs half the price. Both are fairly messy to remove and require a waterproof eye make-up remover and if I am entielry honest I wouldn't recommend either to those with sensitive eyes. Personally neither are great enough to make me shun my beloved Inglot Gel Liner Pot!

Why Pay More - Pen Gel Liners

Benefit They're Real Push-Up Liner Dupe

I have been told that the Maybelline Lasting Drama Black Shock Gel Liner was actually on the make-up stands before the Benefit They're Real Push-Up Liner. I truly can not say if this is the case or not and will say that I discovered the Maybelline Lasting Drama Black Shock Gel Liner a good month or so after I tried out the Benefit version. I guess that is irrelevant as both are available now and eerily similar...

Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Lacquers

Recently everyone has been recommending the Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Lacquers, telling me that they were worth the wait and one of the best lip glosses they have tried. With recommendations like that I simply had to purchase a few shades - I was also urged on by the Superdrug buy one, get one half price offer. It is only fair that I mention I'm really not a lip gloss fan but they are pleasant enough to wear...

Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Lacquers

The packaging of the Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Lacquers is rather deceiving, the inner casing is shaped like a lipstick when in fact it is a balm like textured lip gloss. Naughty Maybelline. The Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Lacquers are fairly dinky in size and comfortably fit in the palm of my hand and feature a screw top lid complete with a doe foot applicator. Said applicator is angled and flat in shape so that it easily and evenly coats the lips with one quick swipe with zero mess. No complaints what so ever.

After a quick look online it seems that there is 11 shades here in the UK (there could well be more), I would have purchased a nude and coral hue had there been un-tampered products to do so. I have been purchasing make-up for over 10 years now and still don't understand why people open stock rather than testing the tester product. It infuriates me and I don't even work in retail. Gah! Anyway rant over I walked away with the Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Lacquers in the shades: 105 Petal Plush which is a yellow toned medium pink that oddly contains glitter. You can not see it on the lips in my opinion and it doesn't feel gritty. My guess is that it is to help create a plumping effect. The other shade I have is 705 Blush Essence which is a slightly deeper pink with a strong blue undertone. This does not contain glitter at all. It is important to mention that neither shade is terribly pigmented and rather than masking the natural lip colour they add a tint - much like the vast majority of lip glosses out there.

The obvious comparison to make with the Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Lacquers is to compare them to YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Lip Stains. The Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Lacquers are the closest dupe to the aforementioned YSL product and are almost identical in formula - shade options aside. If you like the idea of a thicker, non-sticky yet utterly moisturising lip product that is glossy and offers a wash of subtle colour this is the product for you. On the lips the Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Lacquers feel like a thick lip balm and really do hydrate the lips. Despite being a heavier texture they are not uncomfortable but you will be very aware that you have something on your lips. They are not prone to bleeding, smudging or smearing but will wear off quickly with general eating and drinking. I wore test both shades yesterday and I managed around two hours of wear at the very, very most. Long wearing they are not (nor ideal for a windy day) but if you want a moisturising, glossy, sheer lip product this is the one for you.
