So Australia now have a Sephora (so I've heard anyway), who is hoping the UK is next?
For the moment that is a pipe dream but on the bright side Sephora do deliver to the UK so all is not a loss. If you are planning on placing a Sephora order any time soon may I suggest a Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick especially if like myself you are a huge fan of liquid and long wearing lipsticks. I promise you will not be disappointed!
Look beyond the tacky packaging - sorry Kat Von D, yes I do think you are one cool lady but your make-up packaging is not at all my style. The majority of the items come in cheap, plastic casing that does not reflect the price point at all. Like I said overlook it, no it won't impress anyone on your dresser but in the brands defence each product more than preforms. The Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks each come in a typical lip gloss style tube with a doe foot applicator which surprisingly makes application a breeze. The foam wand grips on to just the right amount of product meaning it is easy to somewhat line and fill the lips - no mess or waste. What is not to like!
Online (via Sephora) there are 12 shades to choose from, personally I am super bland when it comes to lipstick - nudes, dusky pinks or corals and that is about it. The shade that spoke to me the most was Lolita and I purchased without as much as swiping the tester onto my hand. Whoops. Luckily Lolita is my kinda shade - a light, dusky pink that is cool in tone with a strong brown undertone. Apparently it is Kat Von D's pink/nude of choice and I can see why. It is really flattering, doesn't leave my somewhat large lips looking clown like (it happens more frequently that I let on) and is the perfect everyday shade without being lacklustre and bland. Off the top of my head I can't think of any outright dupes but if you enjoy MAC Soar and Whirl lip liners but want something a little easier to apply and wear this is for you.
Being a liquid lipstick applying Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick is a little trickier than your run of the mill lipstick in the sense that you do have to wait on it drying. The key thing to do and remember is that you must allow it to dry completely before eating or pressing your lips in any sense otherwise it will crack and bobble off. Once dry this is not an issue, rather you have a soft and long wearing matte lipstick that doesn't transfer, bleed or fade. I will be entirely honest in saying that the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick are somewhat drying, not as much as say a MAC Retro Matte Lipstick or as uncomfortable as wearing a lipliner all over your lips but you can definitely feel them on your lips. I guess if you are familiar with Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipsticks et al you will know exactly what to expect. As someone who wears matte lipstick almost daily this is not a problem at all for me but worth pointing out none the less. On the plus side the wear time is sensational, I never shut up as well as drinking and eating like a fiend all day long and each application stays true for a good six hours at least. If you can find a shade that you utterly adore I'd go as far as saying this could have holy grail status stamped all over it.
Now Sephora if you could kindly open in the UK (again) you will please many a beauty lover.
