Diptyque Résine Candle for Winter 2014

Diptyque Résine Candle for Winter 2014

Diptyque's Holiday Collection for 2014 is a beautiful medley of gloriously intricately designed glass holders - rich shades of blue, red or green depending on which scent you purchase. Each of which when lit illuminates the entire casing breathing life into the delicate, golden etchings on each candle holder. They truly are show stopping. . All three scents come in two sizes much like the permanent Diptyque candle range -  the smaller size features solid coloured frosted glass votive holders each of which has the same golden and white etchings. The larger sizes are similar in design but the main difference is that the candle holders have a gradient effect and instead of being frosted in finish the glass is glossy.

I was kindly gifted Diptyque Résine Candle from the Diptyque Holiday Collection which in my opinion smells like Christmas/Winter and all things you associate with the colder months, wrapped in one candle shaped gift. Once you can bring yourself to light the candle (the beautiful packaging does leave one a little hesitant) the scent throw is almost immediate. I have tried several Diptyque candles and this is by far one of the strongest fragrances to date - it is in no way overpowering but one hour of burn time can and will fill your entire home. I tested this around 12pm today and four hours later the fresh pine notes are still lingering in the air.

"Infused with the invigorating scent of crushed pine needles, bark and resin, the distinctive woody notes of Diptyque’s limited edition Résine Christmas Candle is a fresh and modern take on a traditional festive fragrance. Presented in a stunning emerald green glass vessel with gold embellishments, this striking jewel-coloured candle makes for a beautiful gift and a stylish addition to any interior. Its subtle, elegant scent will fill your home with an inviting ambience - perfect for entertaining over the Christmas period."

I agree with Space.NK when they describe it as a aromatic, fresh and woody, scent. All aboard Adrienne's imagination train...choo,choo! If you have ever been skiing then I feel this candle will have a special place in your heart (even if like myself you just lounge around in the lodge). It has the fresh, crispness of Alpine air - cool and refreshing, yet it is tinged with a festive green pine note and has a slight woody base. It really is a luxurious scent and one I feel both female and male audiences will appreciate.

  1. I just bought this and I thought I'd prefer the other scents more, but this one was my favourite after smelling them all in SpaceNK. It has a certain sweetness to it, even though it's a fresh woody scent. It's a real Winter treat!

Beautiful Life as I know it

  2. The packaging of this candle is definitely one of the nicest I've ever seen! However, I don't think I could EVER justify £45 for a candle!!

  3. This sounds amazing, I love wintery/christmas scented candles! x

  4. This sounds so amazing! I've tried a couple of Diptyque candles and the scents are all so fantastic, so I'm definitely keen to give this one a try! The only problem is justifying the price tag when I should be buying other people Christmas presents!

  5. This sounds so incredible just from pine needles being in the description and I love the packaging!

  6. This sounds lovely. I'm currently burning their Santal candle, but I really want to try the holiday collection too.
