Urban Decay X Eyeshadow

I have an Urban Decay Create Your Palette which only contains one eyeshadow (Urban Decay Easy Baked), I did have three other shades but along the way I gifted them to my younger sister. The gifted shadows were bright, glitter based and not at all "me". I have decided to re-build my Urban Decay palette but only with shades I truly adore and will use regularly. My guess is that it will be a slow process as I am so choosy but once completed I will share the finished project. Joining Easy Baked is Urban Decay X which I really couldn't recommend more.

As you may or may not know Urban Decay Eyeshadows can be used as individual eyeshadows or popped out of their pans and slotted into one of the build your own palettes. I can not fault the packaging - it is fairly compact, robust and pleasing on the eye. It travels well, I have dropped many an Urban Decay eyeshadow and never as much as chipped one which is surprising given the buttery soft textures.

So yes Urban Decay X Eyeshadow, a light neutral come pink hue that you may assume would already be in one of the Urban Decay Palettes (most likely Naked 3) and yet it isn't. I have made a point of ensuring that I do not purchase any Urban Decay palette shades which is oddly easier said than done. Anyway Urban Decay X Eyeshadow is a light golden pink, warm in tone and more of a peach than your typical pink eyeshadow. If it looks familiar and you can't quite place it, then that may be because once applied it is not entirely dissimilar to NARS Orgasm blush but only when you completely sheer it out. If you simply swatch NARS Orgasm the effect will not be the same but a good blending brush and light hand may garner similar results. If you like the idea of Urban Decay X Eyeshadow but want something a little cooler the Naked 3 Palette offers Burnout which is both lighter and cooler in tone. Personally I like Urban Decay X as the orangey peach tone gives the illusion of bluer eyes and as it is quite subtle it is a great all over the lid shade for lazy days.

I may consider myself to be a MAC girl but will happily state that I do think Urban Decay are King of the eyeshadow world. Just like the vast majority of Urban Decay eyeshadows X is a soft, finely milled and texture shadow that offers intense pigmentation yet can be sheered out with a blending brush. Urban Decay eyeshadows also work well wet, great if you like a more foil like finish. Speaking of finished X is a shimmer based shadow that does not contain glitter, should you wish you could also use this shade as a blush. In terms of wear Urban Decay eyeshadows are one of the few formulations that I would dare to wear minus a primer, on my oily lids they remain crease free for around 6 hours. With a primer it really is a case of the shadow remains crease free and bold in colour until I am ready to remove it which is never more than 10 hours. At £14 each creating your own quad can become pricey but I do recommend the formulation none the less.

Next on my hit list is Maui Wowie and either Mushroom or Laced. Like I said I am picky...
