These are a Few of my Favourite Things - August 2014

My monthly favourites are fairly predictable, basically I have fallen into that trap where I reach for the old familiars. Basically what I am saying is that if you read this blog fairly regularly then you will more than likely have heard me rave in some form about the soon to mentioned products. I am not even sorry.

Now for a quick round up of my current favourite skin care products, first up we have Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair for Eyes which is a light repairing serum for the eyes. I'm a little dehydrated at the moment and this light serum quickly plumps up any fine lines, leaving my area soft and well cared for. Although I'm not entirely convinced that the Kiehl's Skin Rescuer does reduce redness or signs of stress for that matter I do rather like it as a moisturiser. It is light yet rather hydrating and works well before make-up application.

I have four stand out base products of sorts - I have more than enjoyed the combination of Chanel Le Blanc de Chanel and Clarins True Radiance Foundation. Both promote radiance but in a subtle way and give the most natural and dare I say it angelic glow. All month long I received compliments on my skin and it has been down to this combination. I should also mention that Chanel Le Blanc de Chanel does help to lock foundation in place in my opinion at least. Continuing my theme of creating glowy skin my blush of the month has to be Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Dim Infusion which I do like to combine with a dusting of Hourglass Incandescent Light as a highlighter. Basically I am Hourglass obsessed as of late.

My eye make-up has been really basic, I have been reaching for my Urban Decay Basics Eyeshadow Palette or Clarins Ombre Matte Eyeshadow in Earth. The Urban Decay palette is perfect for everyday use and is rather flattering but my goodness are the Clarins eyeshadows something to behold. If you like matte formulations you need at least one shade. The formula is game changing - it glides on, stays put and wears beautifully both alone or with other products layered on top. I will be purchasing more shades, mark my words. A quick shout out to my beloved Rimmel Scandal Eytes Eye Liner in Nude, it opens up my eyes and quickly hides any signs of fatigue.

Yes, yes I am predictable. Matte nude lips? What else! The three lip colours I have had on repeat for the last month or so are Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Nudeist, MAC Lip Liner in Whirl and NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Isola Bella. MAC Whirl and  Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Nudeist are pretty similar the main difference is that the Bourjois shade is a little less drying than the liner and pinker in tone. I tend to wear Nudeist during the day and MAC Whirl in the evening. As my hair is now almost white blonde I have had to ditch a good few lipsticks as they were washing my out luckily my trusty NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Isola Bella is not one of such shades. This pinky peachy come nude hue brightens and adds a little life to my complexion, my two deeper nudes may be inspired by Kylie Jenner but NARS Isola Bella is 100% Bridget Bardot!

I think pretty much 99.9% of my readers would have bet good money on Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt Cologne making an appearance in my favourites. Well you wouldn't be wrong. I have harped on about this all month long and rightly so. It is fresh, cool (in more ways than one) and a new staple product for me. In my mind it reminds me not only of the British Sea Side but also the beginning of seasons changing.

And that is all for the month of August! If you made it through the entire post you more than deserve a pat on the back.
