Lanolips 101 Strawberry Ointment Review

I am a little obsessed with lip balms, by little I mean I need to have one on my person at all times especially now the weather in Scotland has become positively chilly. Chapped lips are a bug bear of mine but as I like to lick and bite my lips (it sounds far more seductive on paper than it looks in person...trust me) I really do have to be vigilante with lip balm. One of my favourite balm brands ever is Lanolips particularly their Banana and Lemonaide balms. One word. Yum! So it took next to no persuasion for me to test out the newest scent of the block - Strawberry.

So let me first of all tell you about the main ingredient of Lanolips 101 Strawberry Ointment - Lanolin.
Lanolin is a by product that is found in wool bearing animals (more often than not sheep) within their coat, it acts as a barrier to prevent moisture loss. As Lanolin (when found within nature) only role is to protect wool and the skin against the harsh conditions of the environment, it can contain more than 200% of it's weight in moisture so it does make sense that it is used within the beauty industry. The extraction of Lanolin is typically created by squeezing harvested wool between rollers. Most or all of the lanolin is removed from wool when it is processed into textiles, such as yarn or felt - hence it being a by product. Now we all know eh! Lanolips have also added strawberry extracts and vitamin E (can help make the lips appear more plump) and is to treat and heal, dry and dehydrated skin. Strawberries naturally exfoliate dead skin cells meaning with a few uses any dry skin on the lips is removed without the need for a separate (and often harsh) lip scrub. Clever huh? The Strawberry addition gives the balm a light and very natural scent, it isn't sickly sweet or strong in fragrance.

Given the product title - Lanolips 101 Strawberry Ointment, I'm sure it will come as little surprise to learn that this balm is multi-purpose. Personally I only use the Lanolips balms in general on my lips but they can be used anywhere you have dry skin and oddly really help with rubbing shoes. A great little multi-purpose product to keep in your bag for all dry skin emergencies!
