If I Could Only Own Five Nail Polishes

I have no problem confessing that I am rubbish when it comes to nails, I can paint my left hand perfectly then make a mess when it comes to my right hand. I don't have a whole lot of patience and more often than not leave it up to the professionals (you can beat a good gel manicure). I have tinkered with the thought of signing up for a nail technician course and I think once I have a little more spare time this will be top of my to do list. Until then let me share my top five easy to apply and wear nail polishes...

If I Could Only Own Five Nail Polishes

1, Chanel Nail Lacquer in Frenzy - link.
This is one of the very few nude nail polishes I can wear, it is light but doesn't look bizarre on my hands (or toes) even when tanned. It can be worn sheer for a polished but "I didn't try too hard" look or layered on to achieve a muted grey nude. Chanel Frenzy is my go to polish when I have a busy week and not a whole lot of time to paint my nails, yes it chips fairly easily but it isn't that noticeable when it does. Basically I love the shade but not so much the formula, which reminds me I must hit Google and find a more pocket friendly dupe.

2, Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in Coconut - link.
White manicures can look so chic on others and in my opinion so fresh, they look great all year round and compliment every outfit choice and skin tone. Yet when I try to wear white nail polish I feel silly, I often look at my nails and all I see is Tippex (White Out) not a perfectly polished white manicure. Sound familiar? Well in that case you need Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in Coconut - an almost white that is glossy in finish and a snip at £3.99. To the naked eye it looks white but once applied it does have a slightly grey cast which makes it so much easier to wear. The glossy finish also stops it from looking bizarre!

3, Nails Inc Nail Polish in Baker Street - link
Forget only being able to own five nail polishes, if it came down to selecting only one shade to wear for the rest of my life it would be this! Words can not describe just how much I love and I mean LOVE Nails Inc Baker Street. This is the most beautiful blue polish in the world and I mean that. It is bright yet works on every skin tone and season. Yeah it is a little prone to chipping and peeling off but I will happily put up with that for the beauty of the shade. As you can tell I am a fan of this bright cobalt blue.

4, Michael Kors Nail Lacquer in Sensation - link.
Every nail polish collection needs a classic red, even if a little like myself you feel alien when you wear it. Red is such a fiesty shade that I don't always have the courage to wear it on my lips or as clothing but do dip in and out with a red polish. I like a classic, bold red and Michael Kors Nail Lacquer in Sensation is just that. It doesn't have a blue tone so it compliments tanned and medium skin tones and the formula is just perfection. Two coats and you are good to go. It is glossy, long lasting and oddly more affordable than a Chanel polish. Who'd have thought it?

5, Chanel Nail Lacquer in Black Satin - link.
Just as every collection needs a red polish, I feel a good black nail lacquer should not be over looked. I may not always sing the praises of certain Chanel polishes but Chanel Black Satin is one of the few good 'uns. It applies beautifully, two coats and it is fully opaque and glossy (some Chanel polishes are thin and streaky). It isn't as prone to chipping and generally is one of the best black polishes I have ever tried out.

Okay that is my top five, what would make the cut from your stash and why?
