Lush Cosmetics Sun Care

As you may know I was lucky enough to visit the Lush Factories in Poole last month and it was here I saw a sneak peek of the now launched sun care range. Being Lush innovation both of the new sun care products are just that...innovative. In the shower sun block? Check! A sun lotion that can help you to tan all the while cooling the skin? Check and check!

My guess is that just like myself the product of intrigue has to be the in shower sunblock aptly dubbed - Lush The Sunblock. It really is rather genius. The Sunblock almost looks like a giant golden slab of chocolate (very Willy Wonka-esque) and for good reason too! You see each third of The Sunblock bar is enough for one full face and body application - taking out the guess work of just how much SPF should be applied (if using a liquid/cream SPF you should apply an egg cup full of product to your body per application). Admittedly the concept is a little bizarre, you break off a chunk jump under the shower, rub the bar all over damp skin, rinse off and gently dab yourself down with a towel. It contains an SPF of 30 and has been formulated with three broad-spectrum sunscreens as well as soothing, nourishing ingredients such as cocoa butter (softens and moisturises the skin), Calamine Powder (to soothe), Rose Absolute (restorative) and Chamomile (to soothe the skin). Personally I think the novelty factor will really appeal to kids and make what I can imagine to be a difficult task a little easier. Personally I would bung this into a drink cooler bag and take this to the beach, as you rinse it off in the shower it will be ideal for dips in the sea. In other words no more burnt shoulders! You can find it here for £8.95 per bar - link.

Liv who works for Lush PR was one of the first to test out the new Lush Sesame Suntan Lotion and where better to put it to good use than in Dubai! I met Liv the day after she flew back from Dubai and the first thing I said to her was "Wow you are tanned!". A beautiful tan, healthy, even and just generally enviable. That was well over a month ago and guess what the lucky so and so is still a beautiful deep bronze shade. She really didn't have to sell me on Lush Sesame Suntan Lotion as her glow spoke volumes. Lush Sesame Suntan Lotion does have a funny scent - toasted sesame seeds to be exact. Bizarre but not unpleasant. It has a light non-sticky consistency that will be ideal for those like myself who hate the feeling of lotions and oils on their skins. So just what makes Lush Sesame Suntan Lotion so special? It contains sesame oil and a walnut leaf infusion help to increase the skin's melanin production. Which I am told is the skins natural reaction to sun exposure which in theory can help the skin to tan not burn.It also contains an abundance of cocoa butter and aloe extract to soothe and nourish the skin so you don't end up with dry, flaky skin. Think of the aloe as an in-built after sun in that it cools and moisturises the skin in one quick step. Much like The Sunblock bar this contains three broad-spectrum sunscreens to ensure that the skin is well protected. I must state that this is quite a low SPF at 10 so it won't be ideal for fair skin types or children for that matter. You can find it here for £15/250g - link.
