Essence Cosmetics UK Haul

Essence cosmetics first launched in the UK last year but it was only in selected Wilkinsons stores, all of which were in England. Great if you live local not so much if like myself you happen to be based in Scotland. Well the good news is that Essence can now be found in many more Wilko stores yes even in Scotland! With a current 3 for 2 offer (prices range from 99p - £3.99) on all Essence products I thought I'd share what I have picked up recently...

Obviously I need time to play around with each product before I review anything but I simply couldn't resist the Essence Blush Up Blush in Heat Wave. In my opinion it is the closest dupe I have ever seen to my beloved and now defunct MAC Ripe Peach blush. The coral, orange and pink medley is perfect for the Summer months and I rather like that it is matte! Speaking of Summer finding a good, olive toned bronzer that is kind on the wallet is easier said than done - enter Essence Sun Club Brunettes Matt Bronzing Powder which is huge in size, completely matte, smells amazing and is not orange in the slightest. You can use it to warm the skin and to contour, not bad for less than £4 huh? I also have Essence Sun Club All in One Bronzing Highlighter which is a bronzer, blush and highlight all in one nifty little palette. I know it is for the face i.e the cheeks but I can't help but feel it would be more at home on my eyes?

Speaking of eyes I couldn't resist an eyeshadow palette or two. I'm currently on the look out for a good neutral palette that will travel well so I have Essence Quattro Eyeshadow Palette in Over the Taupe. As the name suggests this is a cool toned quad which I personally think would look great on green eyes and is more of an evening palette for my personal taste. So far I can tell you that the eyeshadows are really pigmented and soft. If you like soft but cool toned eyeshadows you have to pick up the Essence All About Nude Eyeshadow Palette in 01 Nude. Six, almost fairy tale pastel nudes to choose from, that are buttery soft and a snip at just £3.99. I rather like cream eyeshadows to use as base and I have high hopes for the new Essence Eye Sorbet's, as I'm enjoying cooler toned neutrals I settled for the shade Illuminating Plum. Oddly this is more of a silver based taupe than plum but it is beautiful none the less. I really need to find a good water proof mascara so I'm keen to see how Essence All Eyes On Me Waterproof Mascara fairs, I shall keep you posted!

Lipstick! Oh how I love thee. One of the most raved about Essence products in the blogging world has to be the brands lipsticks so it is of little surprise that I have three new shades to try out. In the end I plumped for Essence Long Lasting Lipsticks as sometimes reapplying lipstick several times a day isn't always ideal (first world problems eh!). I have the shades Coral Calling which reminds me a lot of MAC Viva Glam Cyndi, Natural Beauty which could be a good dupe for MAC Angel and lastly Love Me which is a mid toned pink. So far I can state that they glide on to the lips, creamy, have beautiful colour pay off and do wear exceptionally well. I am really looking forward to reviewing this lipstick line in full.

Please don't throw me to the lions but I am a foundation snob. Sorry! I am trying to be more open minded but will tend to splash cash on base products and skimp on nail polish. So it is with an open mind I will be trying Essence All About Matt Foundation and Essence Cover Stick. What has swayed me is the fact both products are matte and aimed at oily skin. Fingers crossed.

I'm not what you'd call a nail polish enthusiast. I like the idea of perfectly polished talons but normally fail at the first hurdle. With Essence being so budget friendly and on a 3 for 2 offer I thought meh why not? After months of false nails I'm determined to grow my own natural nails, to help this process I am placing my faith in Essence Pro White Nail Harder which should prevent my nails from splitting, breaking off and also helps remove polish staining in one step. Pretty clever. I'm obsessed with gel top coats, I love wet look nails so I have both the Essence Gel Look Top Coat and Essence Ultra Gloss Nail Shine - we shall see which turns out to be the best choice. Lastly I have one of the new Essence Colour and Go Nail Polish in Naughty and Pink, I really only selected this to be able to give a brand over view. In hindsight I should have went for a glitter polish or a nude. Not to worry I think this shade will look great on my toes...well as great as toes can look!

I will of course post full reviews in the coming weeks, do let me know if you like the look of anything and what you personally recommend from the brand.
