I have so much love for the OCC Lip Tars but the price tag can be a little off putting especially when in an ideal world I'd love to own one of each. Well the newest lip launch from Barry M could well be the answer to all my pigmented lipstick dreams. The new Barry M Loud Mouth Extreme Lip Colours cost a mere £3.99 each and here is why I deem them a Summer staple...
I don't want to call the Barry M Loud Mouth Extreme Lip Colours out right OCC Lip Tar dupes because they aren't, the formula is different for starters. Yet much like the OCC Lip Tars the Barry M Loud Mouth Extreme Lip Colours come in small squeeze tubes with slated nozzle spouts so you can apply on the go should you wish. As a word of warning less really is more, do not squeeze too firmly or you will end up with the product everywhere and I mean EVERYWHERE. Learn from my mistakes ha! To apply I personally find a lip brush to come in handy, that way you can spread the liquid all over the lips in a thin layer minus the mess. Are the Barry M Loud Mouth Extreme Lip Colours a product to apply in a rush? In a word no!
Barry M Loud Mouth Extreme Lip Colours come in seven shades all of which I have been lucky enough to receive. Before I share a general over view of the formulation please see below for a shade run down. Apologies that there are no lip swatches, my face is covered in some sort of hives. They got that bad that my doctor sent me to A&E. Trust me when I say you will never feel more ridiculous than I have sitting in hospital for blinking hives. Anyway the shades are as follows:
Diva LM1 - A deep berry come red, fairly cool in tone and a nightmare to photograph as it is so glossy. My photos don't do this much justice but if you like a deep cool toned red this is one to look out for.
Tease LM2 - Your basic bright red, nothing new but a great staple. If you love red lipsticks and want a long wearing true red gloss look no further.
Gossip LM3 - A bright blue toned shocking pink, this reminds me of MAC Girl About Town Lipstick.
Show Off LM4 - A brighter than bright coral pink, this is almost neon and reminds me of an amped up version of MAC Flamingo lipstick.
Chatterbox LM5 - Very similar to the above Show Off shade only more pink based and not as neon.
Screamer LM6 - Do you miss MAC coral lipsticks such as Ever Hip and Reel Sexy well Screamer is your new coral best friend. A light but bright true coral that will compliment a tan or deep complexion. My favourite shade out of the bunch.
Tell-Tale LM7 - Every collection needs a nude and this is the Barry M Loud Mouth Extreme Lip Colour offering. A light, milky pale pink come nude that I personally really like but do worry that it may be a little stark on deeper complexions. You can also use this shade to lighten any other lip colour.
As you can probably see from the swatches the Barry M Loud Mouth Extreme Lip Colours are extremely glossy and a little prone to bleeding/smudging when first applied. I find that if you apply in thin layers and allow to set for a few moments you eliminate this. On the lips they feel very akin to a gloss but not sticky which is why I think they will draw comparisons to the OCC Lip Tars as time marches on. They are fairly comfortable, moisturising yet not heavy or tacky in texture and beyond pigmented. The main issue is that they do transfer, if you are eating, drinking etc you will find yourself reapplying otherwise you are looking at two hours of wear. The colour range is great, you can make a statement and I think you will be hard pushed to find anything as glossy yet pigmented as the Barry M Loud Mouth Extreme Lip Colours on the high street.
