Today MAC Maleficent Collection dropped on the MAC website and needless to say it all but sold out instantly (update it is now on the Selfridges website - link). I only managed to snag the eyeshadow palette and a nail polish as the other things I hoped to purchase were long gone. I'm praying it will go onto other sites such as Selfridges, House of Fraser and Debenhams soon so I can get the rest of my wish list but until then I present the second instalment of my MAC Alluring Aqua Collection...
The one thing I had my heart set on from MAC Alluring Aqua was the Enchanted One Lipstick which out of the five shades from the collection that appealed to me. MAC Enchanted One is a matte mid-tone neutral pink which leans a little cool in tone and may not be all that flattering on deep skin tones. Admittedly I wouldn't reach for it when tanned but if you like mid toned pink tinged nudes this is one to try and source as it is an easy shade to slick on. In my opinion colour wise this is a little like a deeper version of MAC Angel, so if you like shades of that vain you should enjoy this. Yes it is a matte formula but it is not completely flat nor is it as drying as other matte formula's I have come across. In terms of wear I found it to wear evenly for close to three hours before somewhat fading.
MAC Lipglass is the only true lipgloss I like and use, yes it is a little sticky but there is no denying it delivers both decent pigmentation and wear time. I'm not very adventitious when it comes to lip colours so needless to say my choice from this collection is a little muted - MAC Water Deities. This is a somewhat bronze based pink that again is cool in tone, in fact you could say it is the gloss version of the above lipstick. MAC Water Deities isn't the most pigmented lip product out there but it will suit most skin tones offering a nude pink wash of colour which admittedly a little metallic in finish that works with your natural lip colour rather than mask it. On the lips you certainly can feel it and as said it is a little sticky but it is long wearing and moisturising. Above the last image shows the gloss over the aforementioned lipstick.
I have said it before and I'll say it again when MAC launch their In Extra Dimension collections the cheek products is what you should hone in on - particularly the highlighting products. Annoyingly the Alluring Aqua collective doesn't contain any highlighters but does feature two blushes, one of which I have MAC Seduced at Sea. Best described MAC Seduced at Sea is ....... If like myself you have enlarged pores and find some blushes only highlight such faults and some matte formula's look dry and flat this is the blush line you want in your stash. I find the MAC In Extra Dimension blushes to add a subtle hint of colour that warms the face, as well as having a radiant finish that illuminates without highlighting my enlarged pores or clinging to dry areas. The downside on my oily skin this formula only tends to wear for around 7 hours but that could well be my complexion to blame.
Lastly I have, MAC Alluring Aqua Submerged Nail Lacquer which annoyingly I can not share a swatch of as I have gel nails on (due to come off tomorrow) but what I can say is that it is the perfect mermaid blue. It shimmers blue, green, gold and all that is in-between. Imagine the sea at night fall and this is exactly what you will see within this nail polish. In it truly beautiful and unique.
At the moment I would say your best bet to snag any of your most wanted MAC Alluring Aqua items is to visit your local counter but you can still pick up certain items via MAC - link, Selfridges - link, Debenhams - link and House of Fraser - link.
- This post contains both products I have purchased myself and press samples.
