Bourjois Rogue Edition Velvet Lipsticks

By now you will most likely have heard all about the Bourjois Rogue Edition Velvet Lipsticks, a new line of matte liquid lipsticks that come in six shades and are currently exclusive to Boots online within the UK. Well here is my tuppence (I hear my Granny use this phrase the truth is I don't actually know how much tuppence is ha!) worth...

First of all kudos to Bourjois as the packaging is wonderful and looks pricier than the £8.99 they retail for. Small colour co-ordinated lids to the lip colour that contain a doe foot applicator which I'm not always the biggest fan of but in this instance it works wonderfully. The doe foot evenly and easily glides the balm like consistency of this lipstick over the lips for even coverage, with a mirror you could apply these with ease even on the bumpiest of commutes. I truly have no reason to fault the packaging of the new Bourjois Rogue Edition Velvet Lipsticks.

Truthfully I do find the Bourjois Rogue Edition Velvet Lipstick colour range to lean a little red - out of the six shades are red based (one of which is a red pink), there's a ducky but deep pink, a nude and a peach which when applied and dry turns red toned. I would have liked a lighter shade throw in the mix for us that don't quite feel confident or simply don't enjoy wearing bold, in your face shades. I have the following shades: 03 Hot Pepper which is a bold, shocking blue based red, 04 Peach Club which looks to be your typical mid tone peach until applied when it turns almost neon coral red, 06 Pink Pong a shocking pink that is again blue based. If you enjoy a bright matte lip colour this line was all but made for you!

Okay I may not be the biggest fan of the shade range (I will pick up the nude hue soon) but the formula is truly astounding. Yes it is matte but as I earlier mentioned it glides on like a balm and even when dry and settled on the lips it does not feel heavy or drying in any way. Out of all the matte liquid lipsticks I own I would deem this to be the most moisturising and light weight. Once fully dry on the lips the Bourjois Rogue Edition Velvet Lipsticks are going nowhere, you can eat, drink, kiss and most likely even swim and your bright pout will stay put. Sometimes with matte liquid lipsticks they have a tendency to flake and wear off unevenly this is not the case with the Bourjois Rogue Edition Velvet Lipsticks but you will need a good eye and lip make-up remover to get rid of the colour ha! I kid you not when I say I experienced a good six hours of full wear from one application.
