In an attempt to be more classy (it's an up hill battle let me tell you) I have been indulging in Chanel Nail Polishes. Let's be truthful nothing screams luxury quite like Chanel and a visit to my local counter can make even the dullest of days seem a little brighter. My current and dare I say new favourite is Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Rouge Noir.
Chanel Rouge Noir is not quite a red nor is it a burgundy hue but rather a blend of both with a slight hint of brown thrown in the mix too. Depending on the light source this can reflect black, deepest red, burgundy and even brown - it really beautiful but classic at the same time. I don't own any outright dupes but Nails Inc Victoria comes pretty close albeit a little more red in tone. If you like deep nail shades but don't want to go for a black polish this is a great and less dramatic choice.
Although fairly pricey at £18 per bottle I have to be truthful and say that I don't find Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colours to be anything special in terms of formulation, you are mainly paying for the Chanel tag and in some instances a unique colour. Now don't get me wrong Chanel Rouge Noir is fully opaque with a high glossy finish in two coats which dry quickly enough but without a top coat you will experience chipping within the first 24 hours. I'm not for one moment stating that it is a terrible formulation but it is far removed from the best so unless you can't live without the shade I'd skip.
Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Rouge Noir £18/13ml £18 but currently £16.20 via Debenhams - link.
