We've seen plenty of beauty subscription boxes in the last few years and sure the occasional box contained a nail polish or two but the UK had yet to see a box solely dedicated to nail polish. Well that was until So Susan Nail Lacquer launched their Love Subscription Box. Each month for £14.95 you get a box of four full sized items in which at least three will be So Susan nail lacquer. There is no surprises as you can view the box in advance on the website so you are not left disappointed by the choices.
I was lucky enough to be sent the first So Susan Lacquer Love box and inside this months box there is four full sized polishes in the shades Raspberry (deep red, very Chanel-esque), Pink Guava (Bright blue based cerise pink), Silver Clouds (duo chrome mauve again it reminds me of a certain Chanel shade) and lastly Mimosa (palest milky pink). As mentioned above the shades are very chic and will suit most tastes, it is a shame that the packaging lets it down somewhat - it reminds me of the old style MUA £1 polishes (beautiful presentation boxes aside). The brushes however are great as is the ingredient list: 4-Free lacquer - No DBP (Dibutyl Phthalate), No Toluene, No Formaldehyde, No Formaldehyde Resin. No Parabens, No Sulfates, No Mineral Oils, No Phthalatesm, No Triclosan and No Animal By-Products.
Ingredients aside I'm afraid I found the polishes to be three coaters (bright pink aside it required two coats), maybe one if used with a white base coat. The problem is that the formulation is so thin that it dries somewhat streaky and transparent. Now don't get me wrong some people enjoy semi-transparent nail shades and if that happens to be you then you are on to a winner otherwise it is a time consuming affair. I do like the shades, the concept and ingredient list but do feel that the overall formula needs improving before I could make it my go to brand for nail polish.

I'm not sure I'm sold on it, for that price I might as well pop down to Boots and get 6 Barry M polishes!

xox
I have to agree with others - I think I'd just buy some I know I'd like each month if I was going to be spending that kind of money on nail varnish monthly.
ReplyDeleteInteresting review though, I had no idea something like this was launching. :)
They look really good!

I've not heard of this brand before. The colours do look nice but I hear what your saying that they look like the old MUA polishes. I often find that most nail polishes are 3 coaters - or maybe I just like a nice dense colour? Anyway nice review.
