I've read a few reviews regarding the Seventeen Skin Wow 3 Way Highlighter and a good few people have stated that it is a great alternative to Becca's Shimmering Skin Prefector only marginally cheaper. Sadly I wouldn't call it an outright dupe but don't overlook it as it is a great product none the less, with three uses!
The packaging is nothing to write home about but it does have a built in pump which allows for ease of use, limits mess and due to the transparent bottle you can easily see how much product you have left. Like I said it is somewhat basic but given the price tag is £6 you can't complain.
As mentioned above the Seventeen Skin Wow 3 Way Highlighter has three purposes: it can be used as a primer, mixed into foundation or as a typical highlighter. Truthfully it did nothing for me as a primer - no oil control, it didn't help disguise my pores nor did it prolong my make-up. So for that reason I deem it to be more of a typical liquid highlighter. The Seventeen Skin Wow 3 Way Highlighter is a light pearlescent pink hue that is cool in tone and very similar to high beam both in results and colour. The reason I don't find it to be a good dupe for any of the Becca Shimmering Skin Prefector's is that the 17 version has more obvious shimmer particles and is not as refined nor flattering on less than perfect skin types. If you don't mind a more chunky shimmer approach when it comes to highlighters then you will enjoy this but if you have enlarged pores or fine lines this may be one to skip.
I have tested the Seventeen Skin Wow 3 Way Highlighter as a primer (mentioned above) as well as mixing it into my foundation and as a standalone liquid highlight and prefer it mixed in with foundation. When I attempted to dab it over the top of my foundation I found it to lift any product underneath. It truly didn't matter how I applied it be it with a brush, sponge or fingertips it removed any product underneath which is less than desirable. However it is not all doom and gloom as it is rather wonderful mixed into foundations, BB or CC Creams and to some degree tinted moisturisers. I find that winter drains the life out of my skin and leaves it looking dull so a quick pump of this mixed within my foundation helps add a quick boost of radiance and a light glow to my skin. Oddly despite my earlier struggles the Seventeen Skin Wow 3 Way Highlighter mixed into foundation didn't alter the consistency nor coverage levels of my foundation but I do warn that as the day goes on and as my foundation wore off the shimmer element became more obvious.
I know my review may not seem entirely positive but I do like it and I think it is perfect for the upcoming festive period.

This looks interesting....I never really understand how to use highlighter's correctly...I always seems to be a bit heavy handed with my applications!

I blogged about this too :) im no expert but i really like it!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow! It looks so...illuminating. As you said though, the festive season is approaching so it'll be perfect. I tend to like liquid highlighters because they aren't powdery and, to me, seem easier to work with. Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteIt looks very similar to soap n glory hocus pocus highlighter
ReplyDeleteGreat post! After reading this I'm going to pass on this one! Have a great night!
ReplyDeleteI have this but I wasn't too keen. I tried as a highlighter only and it removed my double wear foundation as I patted it on my cheekbones. It remained tacky on my skin also. I will try it mixed with foundation maybe then off to the next car boot sale it will go along with all the other duds. X
