Today I have two reasons to say sorry. One feedburner seems to have given up the ghost and only updates when it feels like it meaning many posts don't show up in the feeds up to 12 hours after I have posted them. Utterly useless but I have switched over to Feedblitz and things seem to be back on track. Secondly due to the first reason I have not up until now blogged about the Nars Guy Bourdin One Night Stand Palette and it has since sold out. However you may be able to find it at NARS counters on perhaps in a blogsale? Worst case scenario you could always take the dreaded eBay route.
Much like all NARS powder products this comes presented in a sleek, matte black but rubberised plastic compact which is much larger than I had anticipated. I must state that the typical NARS packaging does get grubby rather quickly and as a result can look less than pleasing but the good news is that it is nothing a quick wet wipe can't solve. Apparently the concept behind the rubber finish is so that the packaging has some sort of shock absorbency factor yet I have shattered many a NARS powder when dropped/bashed etc. That aside I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the blush pans as past experiences haven't quite been the same, normally NARS blush palette pans are fairly skimpy. The time around they are almost as large as a typical NARS blush. Despite this fact the palette is still slim and perfect for travel.
The NARS One Night Palette features six shades all in some of which you may be familiar with and others are exclusive to the kit (Devotee, Mistinguette and Goulue). There is pretty much all most light to medium complexions need to create a perfect sculpted face look with a flush of colour. The shades are Devotee - which is a highlighting Blush and is a light oyster pink in tone. Pretty much the likes of Benefit High Beam but in powder form. The blushes are Mistinguette which is a matte bright blue based candy pink. Annoyingly Orgasm makes an appearance again. I get that the golden pink coral shade is universally flattering but there is only so many times it has to be featured. I now own five pans of Orgasm to date through various palettes. There is also a pan of Deep Throat which is a light peachy pink that has a slight shimmer finish but is rather flattering and lastly Goulue which is a deep almost berry pink. It is a pink toned shimmer based blush with a red undertone. For your bronzing and sculpting needs the palette also features a pan of NARS Laguna which is a medium olive green toned almost matte bronzer that makes for a great contour as well as being able to warm the skin up in a typical sense.
Typically speaking NARS blushes wear on my oily skin when primed for around 8 hours but that of course is merely a guide - some days my skin is oiler than others and make-up wear time is vastly reduced and others not so much. What I will say is that I don't find NARS Shimmer based blushes to be all that flattering on enlarged pores as the shimmer particles tend to settle into such fault and I imagine it to be the same for those with more mature skin. That aside I do think that the NARS One Night Stand is one of the better NARS Blush palettes we have seen in a long while. I just hope in the future NARS restrain from popping Orgasm into every palette they produce...wouldn't that be nice?
