Before work on Wednesday I popped into the Body Shop and bought a few sweet treats. Now normally I loathe anything chocolate scented and really only like the real deal by that I mean I'm not even a huge fan of chocolate cake - a Dairy Milk yes anything else not so much. Anyway my mind was swiftly changed when I sniffed The Body Shop Chocomania range.
Unlike typically chocolate based fragrances this is not overly sweet and is wearable without being obvious. In my opinion it has a slight nutty scent (a little like Nutella) that is basically a more intense version of Cocoa Butter. Speaking of which a few of the products do contain in fair trade form. Essentially if you enjoy the fragrance of Cocoa Butter I imagine this would be right up your alley.
I am annoyingly allergic to Cocoa Butter so my choices were somewhat limited - no body lotions, hand creams or soap for me but I did walk away with the eau de toilette (£8.50) which reminds me a little of Thierry Mugler's Angle only more chocolate based. Despite being a cheap and cheerful purchase it does last all day long which does tempt me to perhaps pick up a few more fragrances. My other chocolate based purchased were the Chocomania shower gel and body scrub in mini form. I thought I'd see how my skin gets on with the new additions before plumping for the full size versions. So far so good, the shower gel is more of a creme that leaves the skin silky soft and well cleansed. The scrub looks and smells exactly like brownie mix and again seems to be more than doing the job. The only problem is that The Body Shop Chocomania products do leave me craving chocolate which is less than kind on the hips.
Me being me I can be swayed by a cute novelty item hence why the rather sweet Gingerbread Man Wash Sponge has made his way into my shower. At £3.50 it was hard to say no but he is a great size and so much softer on the skin than a typical loofah. Find him here - link.
The mini bath and body products I purchased were on a 3 for 2 deal so I also walked away with a hand sanitizer which I go through like nobody's business If like myself you are partial to a pina colada or two then you need the Body Shop's Coconut Hand Cleanse Gel which smells exactly like said drink. I should also mention that it does the job nicely without drying out the hands.
What are your favourite Body Shop picks?
I've never been able to stand the scent of products that are supposed to smell like chocolate. They make me feel sick. But I think I'll pop into body shop just to check those products out. I love chocolate so I really want to love chocolate scented stuff too.
ReplyDeleteWell I love Nutella so I need to give this a sniff!

Oh wow! That wee sponge is gorgeous. And I am so glad they are carrying on the Chocomania range, I adore the body scrub because I don't need to use moisturiser after using it.
ReplyDeleteAw, I was so disappointed by this range :( OK, yeah, I'm not entirely sold on the idea of chocolate smell in cosmetics, but as I *love* chocolate in all its forms, lol, I gave this a try, really wanting to like it -- nope, nuh-uh, not for me.. :S (awful smell)
ReplyDeleteThough I adore TBS and its products, my favourite by far is the satsuma range (I've gone through many bottles of shower gel & lotion), followed by the tea tree (facial wash).
I love chocolately things :D these are right up my alley!
ReplyDeleteOh my God I actually asked TBS' facebook page when they were making a Chocomania spray I didn't think it'd happen wow.
