I was in two minds wither I should review my RiRi ♥ MAC purchases given that the majority of the collection sold out so quickly but as I am unsure on the in-store stock availability and if products will be re-promoted after Christmas I thought I may as well. So without further ado let me share the RiRi ♥ MAC Her Cocoa Eyeshadow Palette.
There has much ado about the special edition packaging that has been rolled out for the RiRi ♥ MAC Fall collection. Some have said they find it cheap and have experienced problems with the magnetic closures on the palettes but I have to say so far I have found neither to be the case. My palette is as well made as any other MAC quad I own and that I am in the minority in saying that I really adore the rose gold colour way. For me as an avid MAC fan it is nice to see something a little different and in my opinion it is the embodiment of girlie girl!
As you may or may not know there is (or were) two palettes to collect within the collection one neutral the other more deep and sultry. Yes both were fairly safe in terms but that is totally my thing and it seems it appeal to the masses too. RiRi ♥ MAC Her Cocoa Eyeshadow Palette features four warm neutral shades which are composed of mostly metallic in my opinion eyeshadows and one true satin shade. I would have liked to have seen a matte formula for the sake of variation but as the colour layout is so pretty I can't complain too much. Oddly this palette has been subject to many variations of individual shade names - I'm not sure if it is a territory thing or simply things have changed since launch but I have went with what the MAC UK site have provided as far as shade names go.
Bright Bronze Gold (lustre formula) - The shade name says it all really but to elaborate a little further I would deem this to be a cool toned almost silver based pale gold that has shimmer a plenty and good colour pay off with a fine almost glittery finish. This makes a great inner corner highlight and can be likened to MAC Retrospeck.
Soft Peach (satin formula) - My least favourite shade and formula from the quad, the light almost flesh toned shade is slightly chalky and has a dry formula. MAC Brule would be a good permanent dupe.
Warm Antique Gold (veluxe pearl formula) - A beautiful warm somewhat deep golden bronze that reflects more gold in the natural light. This shade features a silky soft formula with great colour pay off. If you are looking for a permanent MAC shadow of this shade I would suggest MAC Woodwinked.
Chocolate Bronze (lustre formula) - Another beautiful deep and warm toned golden bronze that again has great levels of pigmentation and no formula faults. Easily my favourite shade in the quad. If you are looking for a permanent dupe then I would try MAC Mulch.
All in all the RiRi ♥ MAC Her Cocoa Eyeshadow Palette is a great eyeshadow quad that is perfect for those like myself who enjoy neutral based eyeshadows. However I should point out that you can dupe all four of the eyeshadow shades using MAC's permanent eyeshadows pretty easily so don't fret too much if you missed out.
Sadly this has sold out everywhere online but if you live near a MAC counter you may be in luck!
