MAC RIRI ♥ Diamonds Cream Colour Base

With MAC RIRI ♥ Fall making a re-appearance on the MAC site (quick, quick if you want anything) it really is now or never for me to share my reviews of my purchases. Truthfully my opinions of the collection is very divided - the products are either rather wonderful or couple duds (yep i'm looking at you brushes). My favourite item from the collection has to be the MAC RIRI ♥ Diamonds Cream Colour Base...goodness knows I am a sucker for a pretty highlighter or two!

Much like the majority of the collection this product comes presented within special edition packaging which I have to say I am a huge fan of. Rose gold, with hints of neon pink and a mirrored finish. Very pretty indeed although I could live without the Rihanna signature but that is a story for another time. Some have commented on the quality of the packaging this time around I have to say that other than a colour change I can see nor have I experienced anything different. It is sturdy and closes well...basically job done.

Oddly this is my first Cream Colour Base from MAC - I know call myself a fan pfft! In essence this is a cream based highlighter than can be used all over the face and body. MAC list the Diamonds Cream Colour Base as a "golden shimmer cream" and that is some what accurate but to elaborate it is a cool based champagne soft gold it reminds me somewhat of Hourglass' Luminous Light Powder only this is cream product and can be worn on the lips should you wish. What I will say is don't get to bogged down by the undertones or general shade of this product as it is very sheer and will lend itself to all skin tones nicely.
It is worth mentioning that the Diamonds Cream Colour Base does feature shimmer but the particles are fairly minute and do not look over the top for day wear nor does it have a gritty texture.

To the touch MAC RIRI ♥ Diamonds Cream Colour Base is firm yet creamy - in my mind they feel very emollient based and as a result can look a little wet on the skin. After a few minutes in my experience it does dry down to a softer glow/sheen finish that can be muted further should you wish with a powder on top. I don't tend to recommend using cream products on top of powder but as this has such a slippery texture to begin with you can pat it over a set face without the make-up caking. On the skin this doesn't just give a soft healthy glow radiance but it also feels light and is one of the few highlighters I own that does not settle into open pores nor fine lines. In terms of wear the few times that I have dotted this on my cheekbones (F.Y.I the heat of your fingertips tends to work best with this cream) it has worn really well with around 7 hours and slightly less when worn on my brow bone.

Luckily this diamond (get it? Hey just be thankful at no point did I type shine bright like a diamond!) is back in stock via MAC - link and I thoroughly recommend purchasing it if soft cream highlighters are your bag.
