The velvet manicure trend is going no-where and Ciaté have newly launched a bright red kit that is sure to stop traffic not to mention it is perfect for the upcoming festive period. I will be truthful and say that the effect is not for me as I can not stand the texture of velvet or cotton wool for that matter. If you can get past that it is visually stunning not to mention really easy to do at home.
To apply you simply use the provided polish, paint the nails and leave to dry.
Once dry you apply another coat and place nails into the try the Ciaté kit comes presented within, next you take the "Luxurious Red Crushed Velvet" and gently tap it over the wet polish. Allow it to dry for around 10 minutes and then using the mini nail brush swipe off any excess topping.
I am not the most skilled when it comes to nail art (I struggle to paint my nails) but I will hold up my hands and say that this is easy peasy and pretty effective to boot.
Is this something you would try? Or are you a little squimish to such textures like myself?
The Ciaté Red Velvet Manicure Kit* is currently exclusive to John Lewis and costs £14 - link

I do like the effect this gives but it probably wouldn't last very long so that's a bit ofa turn off for me.
ReplyDeleteThis looks super! Really lovely effect, and certainly a plus that it's easy to do as I really am not the best at nail art!
ReplyDeleteThis looks so pretty! I really want to get my hands on some of these, I just can't see it lasting long, but it would look awesome on a night out!
ReplyDeleteThe colour is beautiful but I am not a matte/textured nails fan - give me glossy and glittery any day!

I like and i have this velvet effect:)
ReplyDeleteLove this!! I got a blue one last year and really liked it - although I make sooooo much mess when applying!! Defo going to get the red one too!!

I love the colour but I wouldn't use the velvet stuff on top of it. I'd be too worried that bits would fall off into food.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I can't stop looking at the cake pieces in the background!

The Caviar manicure set didn't intrigue me as much but this looks amazing. The pictures makes me want to touch it, hehe.

I love how vibrant it is! Im such a sucker for some nice red nail polish but as im the one who does all the washing up in my house i doubt something like this would last long on me at all! Great review though! x
ReplyDeleteI have so many mixed feelings about this one!

Mmmm cake. I've never tried any textured polish of any kind so I don't know how I'd feel about it and I'm not sure I could be bothered with cleaning up the mess and as someone else said, I'd worry the bits would come off in food. It looks lovely though for special occasions.

wowww this is definitely very different! I just can't decide whether I love or hate it though!

I would DEFINITELY give this a go! I love Red Velvet cake and anything to do with it for some bizzare reason and this would be nice to try and have on my nails for the autumn and Christmas period. I love the colour red, but I never really wear it on my nails as I find that mine look quite manly when red polish is on my nails.
ReplyDeleteBut sod that, I love the look of this! :D

Love it I am definitely going to try it , ordering it now.....
ReplyDeleteUmm, I'm not sure about this. I like the look of it in your pictures but I'm a bit concerned that once I had it on my nails it would look like I'd stuck pieces of Fuzzy Felts to them!
