Pinch, punch first of the month!
Yay it is September and for me that now means it is acceptable to harp on about Autumn, dig out the cosy cardigans, don a pair of ankle boots and light a warming candle or two.
As you can probably tell I adore the colder seasons, speaking of adoring let me share what has been rocking my cosmetic world as of late.
Laura Mercier Foundation Primer £18.50/30ml via Space.NK - link
Despite only having the travel sized version this is over 3/4 full and I use it almost daily, a little truly does go a long, long way. Laura Mercier Foundation Primer creates a smooth and even canvas, has a lightweight gel formula which is suited to all skin types in my opinion and really does help to prolong the wear of make-up and reduction of excess oil. I only wish it disguised enlarged pores a little better.
Chanel Nail Colour in Orange Fizz £18/13ml via Debenhams - link
As a wearer of false nails I don't often get to paint my own nails but I do like to give myself an at home pedicure. All summer long there has only been one said on my toes and that has been Chanel's Orange Fizz, no it's not the best formula but the slightly orange based coral does wonderful things with a tan.
Lime Crime Velveteen in Suedeberry £11.50 via Love Make-Up - link
Truthfully I didn't go out at night all that much in the last month as I have had to save up for grown up things (sigh) but on the two nights out I did have this bright, orange based matte lip colour was my go to.
It is shockingly bright yet totally wearable and wear it does, nothing will budge this lip velvet once set.
If you have yet to try out the Lime Crime Velveteen's I urge you to remedy that asap!
NARS Chelsea Girls Lip Lacquer £17.50/4g via House of Fraser - link
In my opinion this is the most beautiful yellow based pale pink nude lip shade but I have a love hate relationship with the formula. You see it is rather thick and sticky but unlike other glosses it does wear exceptionally long and I have to admit that it is moisturising. Lately I have been pairing this with either MAC Angel Lipstick or NARS Tashkent for a typical everyday nude lip. I like it I don't love it and it is only through laziness (I left it in my bag) that it makes it on to the favourites list.
Chanel Illusion D'Ombre in Epatant £24 via Boots - link
It is no secret that I am obsessed with the Chanel Illusion D'Ombre formula, it is a light gel come cream formula that stays in place all day even on my oily lids. Lately I have found myself reaching for Epatant which is perhaps best described as a metallic brown grey. Teamed with a quick flick of eyeliner and lashings of mascara you have an easy peasy smoky eye that wears all day. Love it!
Jo Malone Wild Bluebell Cologne £39/30ml via House of Fraser - link
Is it too early to start to think about Christmas? Well topping my list this year is a Jo Malone Wild Bluebell Candle and a bottle of Wild Fig and Cassis Cologne and if you are feeling particularly generous Santa Baby I wouldn't say no to a bottle of Lime, Basil and Mandarin either! Greed aside if you have yet to experience Jo Malone fragrances you are in for a treat, yes the majority are floral but my goodness they are so pretty. Yes pretty - not your typical adjective when it comes to fragrances but very true. My personal favourite is Wild Bluebell - it is light, refreshing and perfect for the warm weather. Try it out and let me know what you think.
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair II 30ml/£44 via House of Fraser - link
At first I kicked myself for falling for the hype and now I really couldn't care less as my skin has never looked better - yes it really does de-congest along with brightening, tightening and protecting from environmental damage. I didn't want to love this quite as much as I do (it is so pricey £65/50ml...eep!) but I am afraid I am hooked and can not be without it. If you have yet to try the new formula, get your little butt to an Estee Lauder counter asap and ask for a sample - I promise you won't regret it. You may weep at the price but it is so very worth it.
What have you been loving this month?
That chanel polish is gorgeous! Such a pretty colour :)

Great post as always! I do highly encourage you to look into Lime Crime's shady business practices though, just to be an informed consumer. I was excited about their products but their history put me off. (doedeerelies.tumblr.com has a good archive of everything that happened).
ReplyDeleteI'm really bummed about how their business is run (especially with the cultural appropriation) because I've heard a bunch of good things about their products, but can't bring myself to buy any of it.
DeleteEep off to read, I'm guessing that this is going to be an eye opener!
DeleteI have heard so many good things about lime crimes lip products. I really want to buy some, however that link that was floating around totally put me off.
DeleteI think people have to remember it is a 'history' and not how things are run anymore - there are plenty of big beauty companies who have equally made mistakes or been dishonest about certain things. I was put off by it too but the standards of their products and business etiquette has obviously changed a lot and now I feel comfortable buying their products (most of which really are excellent and unique!)

Ive just added the Laura Mercier radiance primer and the chanel cream eyeshaddows to my basket... I hope they're as good as you say! I have the Estee Lauder ANR to thank for my improved skin too x

Great picks, Adrienne, have to try that Laura Mercier.
ReplyDeleteJust a note, I was genuinely interested in trying Lime Crime, have heard such positive ripples in the UK/Irish blogosphere but that link Maya posted (Thanks Maya) has put me right off :/
You and me both Sue, the above Lime Crime purchase will be my first and last. I'll be sticking to the Stila and Hourglass Liquid Lipsticks from now on. I'm a little embarrassed that I didn't read about the company prior to this post.
DeleteIve been really tempted by the Laura Mercier primer recently, it sounds great!x

ReplyDeleteI love a monthly favourites post that has a few handpicked products rather than a million and one different things. I have the Laura Mercier primer, but really prefer my silcone based ones over it (Smashbox photo finish and Benefit porefessional to be precise!). I have my eye on the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair after trying a few samples, although the price does slightly scare me! I think you have me convinced though..!

ReplyDeleteI so need Orange Fizz. Every time I see it, I love it even more. Eep! I did not know about the Lime Crime drama. I almost bought one of their lipsticks, too. Nope!
