Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Paint in Rich Russet

Truthfully the Rimmel Eyeshadow Paints passed me by with next to no interest and it wasn't until I was loitering near a Rimmel stand in my local Boots store while waiting on a prescription that they caught my eye. Five shimmering metallic shades that are perfect for a night out or dare I utter it the upcoming festive season was a little too much for me to pass up on so I went home with one well considered shade.

Basically the Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Paints are a liquid to powder formula that takes next to no effort to apply. They come presented within what I deem to be typical lipgloss style packaging complete with what is best described as a flexible doe foot applicator. In my opinion the best way to apply this formula is to dot it on to the eyelids using the wand and then blend out using your ring finger using a patting motion.

As mentioned there is five shades to choose from in the Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Paint line up - there is two neutrals and the others are your typical foil like shades such as silver and gold. No they aren't ground breaking or anything new for that matter but they are pretty. In the end I plumped for Rich Russet which is a cool toned metallic chocolate brown that despite being cool toned does have a slight golden tone and in some lights it does ring rose gold. To see it in person is to truly understand the complexity of the shade.I don't own anything quite like it which is fairly rare given the extent of my neutral eyeshadow collection.

I haven't really dabbled with paint formula eyeshadows in the past so the texture of the Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Paint is quite new to me - when first applied they cool the eyelids and feel very wet and liquid like however once patted or blended they somewhat thicken up and form a powder like finish with all the staying power of a cream shadow. As many will know I have oily lids and this formulation does not pool in the creases of my lids after a few hours of wear nor does it dry out like other cream formulas and flake off. Instead with a primer it stays in place for close to 10 hours and on it's own makes a great base for powder products to be layered on top off. You could also get creative and use a fine brush to turn this eyeshadow paint into a liquid eyeliner should you wish.
