Despite owning several MAC lipsticks I am not all that adventurous when it comes to trying out the numerous formulas they offer - rather I stick with the bog standard MAC lipsticks we know and love which is a shame as the Pro Longwear Lipcremes are nothing short of wonderful.
Not only is the packaging different from the regular MAC lipstick line but so is the still of the lipstick bullet - slimmer with a more defined bevel tip which makes application a breeze particularly if you are in a rush. The only downside to this style of packaging is that the lipstick cap isn't as secure as I'd like and has clicked off/became loose a few times. Initially I thought it was a one off fault but as time as went on the other shades of the MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme have the same problem.
All in there are 19 permanent shades within the MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme to choose from and after some online research I settled on To the Future! which has been described as a"light yellow pink" which is mostly true but to my eye it is more of a bright peach and fairly similar to Illamasqua's Androgen pigment. It has just enough pink within the shade to prevent it from looking washed out or looking corpse like on the lips but it is a rather light shade. If you have a light to medium complexion this could well be your perfect everyday nude pink lip colour.
The formula of the MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme's truly is something else, they glide on with such ease
and are really comfortable to wear which has not always been the case with long wearing lip products.
They feel light, comfortable and hydrating coupled with Mac's typical vanilla scent (which oddly smells more appetising in this formulation). The closest MAC formula I can liken these to is the Mac Amplified finish in
the standard lipstick line but if said formula had been refined and boosted, the pigmentation is amazing and offers full opaque coverage in one swipe so lovers of full on loud colour should definitely check this formula out!The finish begins off as a semi glossy sheen and eventually fades to more of a semi matte finish.
MAC do claim that the Pro Longwear Lipcreme formula will wear for around 12 hours
but I found 5 hours without feathering or bleeding to be a more accurate which is still a great wear time none the less.
