MAC Antonio Lopez Nude Lip Kit

One last Antonio Lopez purchase left for me to show case, I say one more but that could be a bare faced lie as the blush palettes are calling my name but we shall see. As you may well know MAC have recently launched the Antonio Lopez collection who was and still is a notable fashion illustrator whose work appeared in such publications as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Elle, Interview and The New York Times. Fans of his work and MAC lovers alike are in for a treat not only is the collection mainly constructed of limited edition shades but the packaging is to die for.

This time around the packaging reminds me of an almost cartoon version of model Erin O'Connor? Very 80's but very cool and a nice break from the typical black MAC packaging. Size wise this palette is rather dinky and can sit comfortably within the palm of my freakishly small hands. Much like yesterdays eyeshadow palette the size is very deceptive as there is three well sized lipstick pans held within. Dinky, cute, robust with a good sized mirror and a proper lip brush all be it in mini size.

As this is a nude lip palette all three shades featured are fairly muted but not necessarily what most deem a typical nude. First up we have Vivid Image which is a a light milky blue based pink which in my opinion is pretty stark but fans of the likes of MAC Pink Friday and St Germaine will snap this up. Vivid Image is an amplified formula so it is jam packed with pigment with a creamy, soft texture.

My favourite shade has to be Antonio's Girls which is a light yellow based peach that is perhaps the most nude-esque shade in the trio. It can be somewhat likened to MAC Peachstock but this does lean a little more orange based. Antonio's Girls is a satin formula but unlike my past experiences with such formulation I did not find this to be as drying and there was no issue with pigmentation levels either.

Lastly we have Art Directed which is a shimmer based, glossy pink tinged shade with purple glitter flecks. I have to admit that I'm not that keen on this shade and as it is a glaze formula the colour pay off is pretty minimal it equates to a pale purple cool toned mauve on the lips with a frosty finish. The saving grace is that it works well layered over the other two shades within the palette for a softer finish.

If you are looking for a compact palette with a good few lip shades that can be mixed and matched you may well enjoy this palette especially the packaging. If you are looking for a little more bang for your buck I highly recommend plumping for one of the MAC Pro Lip Palettes - link which offer six shades for £10 extra - not to mention they are permanent.
