I'm ready for Autumn, oh so ready!
I'm over neons, bronzing and all the typical summer make-up trends and paving the way for some warmer, muted hues. If you haven't already guessed Autumn is my favourite season both generally speaking and for cosmetics and NARS Autumn/Winter 2013 collection may just have the most seasoned of sun worshipers beginning to look forward to the cooler seasons. Their offering of jewel toned products complete with a good few staple neutrals makes for a very interesting line up to say the least.
I don't feel that I really need to go into too much detail about the packaging as it is classic NARS - a rubberised matte compact that is dinky in size and prone to fingerprints and general dirt but nothing a quick wipe down can't solve. I like that each compact comes complete with a mirror (even their tiny eyeshadows) but do warn that despite the rubber finish of the packaging NARS products can be fairly delicate.
For me the stand out shade within the NARS Autumn/Winter Collection 2013 has to be Yamal which is limited edition. Yamal is officially listed as a Maple Sugar shade but to elaborate a little further I would deem it to be a cool toned mid-brown come taupe shade that has a slightly lilac tone and is matte in finish. In my opinion it is a great blending transitional shade and not worlds apart from the likes of Urban Decay's Naked. Basically a suit most shade that has plenty of uses - all over wash of colour, a blending transitional shade or even an eyeliner.
The texture of NARS Yamal is soft but not overly so and is free from both dryness and substantial product fall out and a breeze to apply. It blends out wonderfully with next to no effort, can be layered on without caking or appearing chalky and has great pigmentation. As with most eye shadows I do recommend using a primer (funnily enough NARS do a great one) to prolong the wear of the product, in the case of Yamal with a primer it stays put for close to 10 hours on my oily lids and around 6 hours without a primer.
If you want to see more of the Autumn/Winter offerings from the brand in action you can watch this video -link, it is particularly helpful if you have hooded eyes and/or small eye lids in my opinion.
